RSTMH is a charity and membership society for those working or interested in tropical medicine and global health, and currently have almost 1,800 members from more than 90 countries, with a network of more than 10,000 involved with our work in some way. We are looking for an experienced Membership Manager who will help us manage all aspects of our membership programme. This involves maintaining high levels of retention and developing and delivering new recruitment strategies for members across the world.

The role will also focus on developing membership journey programmes to ensure our members receive top quality service from the Society and that all membership processes are undertaken with efficiency, energy and effectiveness.

The Membership Manager will also play a crucial role in ensuring that we are promoting RSTMH, and its membership offer, to our members and supporters. This person would be the first point of contact for our members and so must be professional, a sound communicator and efficient.

Part of this role involves creating policies and processes to ensure members feel valued at each stage of their journey with RSTMH, developing new marketing products and materials for recruiting and retaining members where necessary.

The successful applicant will have Membership management experience within a relevant charity or learned society setting and will relish the opportunity to take on a new challenge, working on their own initiative for much of the time.

The role

• To lead on developing and implementing current strategies to increase members of RSTMH, including monitoring and evaluating performance against plans and KPIs
• To analyse, identify and develop plans to optimize member journeys
• Manage enquiries from current/prospective members in a professional, timely manner, to agreed service targets
• To cultivate strong relationships with members and understand their specific needs so that RSTMH can support them most effectively via targeted communications
• Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate RSTMH’s membership retention and recruitment success
• Deliver reports to keep the team, CEO and Board up to date with progress on membership activities and strategy 
• Support the Senior Manager with leading our CRM work, which is using Civi CRM
• Work with the team to develop activities and marketing campaigns to improve membership value and take-up
• Develop and oversee communication templates for members, and ensure these are kept up to date
• Keep up to date with best practice in membership management
• Ensure the membership pages and members Area of the website are up to date, accurate and compelling
• Ensure the RSTMH website, journals, materials and other channels have up to date membership information
• Work with a third part finance company to ensure membership subscription payments and renewals are processed efficiently and effectively, and ensure payment processes are fit for purpose
• To be a member of the International Members Committee and help utilize the group to support membership goals  
• Maintaining and improve processes for members
• Establish systems that monitor updates within the membership effectively and ensure that they are communicated to the CEO and Board of Trustees regularly
• Work closely with the Communications Manager to commission and create content for the bi-weekly Members newsletter and membership recruitment campaigns

Person specification

• At least 3 years' experience of working in a membership role, with experience of recruitment and retention campaigns
• Experience of working in a learned society or membership organization
• Working in international development or global health is desirable
• Passion and commitment to the work of the Society
• Experience of developing and delivering successful membership programmes, that have increased recruitment and demonstrably reduced attrition
• Experience of account management of suppliers is desirable
• Experience of creating compelling messages to different audiences
• Highly organised, with ability to self-plan and prioritise workloads 
• Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical people
• Experience of using social media in a professional capacity Knowledge of how to use and optimize a CRM system for membership retention and recruitment
• An understanding of Civi CRM is desirable
• An understanding of current and emerging membership and marketing trends
• A solid understanding of relationship building and how to create a compelling membership journey
• Excellent oral, copywriting and communication skills

The role
This is a key role within the organisation, internally support the Senior Program Directors, as well as externally working directly with government partners to provide implementation guidance, in order to ensure the successful delivery of transformational, cross-sectoral initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In this role, you will review and develop program-related materials that drive strategic priorities; monitor program achievement progress; manage local consultants and technical assistance providers; provide financial oversight of grants; identify and highlight compelling stories about leaders with whom they work; document and help disseminate best practices across their programs; and track and document results across programs.

Experience
To be successful you will need extensive experience in managing complex and large-scale program implementation, ideally in Sub-Saharan African countries. 

You will have a good understanding of how governmental departments work (ideally with direct experience working within government) and have had significant interactions at high policy levels within governments, with proven experience in managing complex and politically sensitive relationships with different stakeholders. 

Able to demonstrate methodical program oversight and management, you will need an exemplary work ethic with a drive for achieving concrete results from often complex environments.  You will be experienced in the use of program management tools such as dashboard creation, program monitoring and strategic planning and be able to example good financial acumen and excellent research and analytical skills, with ability to synthesise comparative research clearly. 

Knowledge wise we are looking for substantial, relevant expertise in one/some of the following: health, nutrition, job creation, urban development or education, ideally in Sub-Saharan Africa. This will include familiarity with evidence, key actors, and proven interventions in a broad range of human development areas.

About the opportunity

Fundraising is critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future.  The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year), of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations, £100k is from individuals, and the remaining from trusts and foundations. We are looking for a Fundraising Manager to work within our passionate Philanthropy Team to help grow our fundraised income and develop and maintain an effective, high-quality funding pipeline. · Work with  Fundraising Coordinator for Campaigns, Events and Individual Giving to build Action Tutoring’s income generated from individual giving, developing campaigns for driving more regular giving and building our strategies to cultivate, engage and thank individuals. 
 

· Act as a system manager for fundraising platforms, databases and tools including Just Giving and the Giving Block, with support from Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Oversee the development of the fundraising area of the website and fundraising pack to attract new funders and fundraisers to the charity, with support from the Fundraising Coordinators.
 

· Manage the Fundraising Coordinators, ensuring they are growing and developing, and that work load is shared fairly. 
 

· Represent Action Tutoring at relevant meetings and events.
 

· Alongside your team, prepare applications for corporate funding opportunities identified by the Corporate Partnerships Team.

Person specification

This role requires an ambitious, passionate and determined individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Alongside your team you will be responsible for writing and submitting grant applications and reports, so an excellent understanding of the English language and a keen eye for detail are crucial for success within this position. Working to deadlines and line-managing three Fundraising Coordinators, exceptional time-management, prioritisation and organisation skills are essential. With a focus on developing our individual giving strategies, we’re looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills. 
 

Qualifications criteria:

· A*-C in maths and English at GCSE (or equivalent experience).

ROLE

Stella Maris is growing as a charity, in terms of income generation and new programmes of activity around the world. To help support this development, we have created this new important role. The Fundraising & Communications team at Stella Maris comprises about 12 staff members (some full time; some part time).  The team and the charity have now reached the point in their evolution where we need to appoint a Major Donor Manager. This post holder will offer excellent stewardship to our existing Major Donors. He/she will also help to identify and cultivate new potential Major Donors from within and outside our existing pool of individual donors. MAIN PURPOSE

The Major Donor Manager, reporting into the Director of Development and working with some guidance from the Head of Major Gifts, will maintain and grow a stable pipeline of income from Major Donors. He/she will secure unrestricted and restricted income from a portfolio of Major Donors to support the activities of the Stella Maris network in the UK and overseas. He/she will produce cultivation plans for individual Major Donors, meet them, craft tailored applications and reports for them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Manage relationships with a portfolio of Major Donors in accordance with the Charities fundraising strategy and giving programme activity.

2 Establish individual donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship strategies, ensuring each prospect and existing donor has an appropriate communications and cultivation programme in place.

3 Ensure that donor profiling and research activity is undertaken on existing and potential Major Donors (within data protection regulation guidelines) in order to enhance and develop relations.

4 Identify potential Major Donors from within the Mid-Value Donor portfolio and help graduate them up to Major Donor giving levels.

5 Working with the Governance and Executive team, conduct meetings and visits with individual Major Donors around the UK.

6 Accompany Major Donors on port visits within the UK and possibly abroad.

7 Craft carefully tailored applications, thank you letters and reports for Major Donors.

8 Support other senior staff and stakeholders, such as Trustees, in cultivating relationships with Major Donors by providing research and other information as required, and bringing them to meetings with Major Donors when appropriate.

9 Build and cultivate relationships with intermediaries, e.g. wealth advisers, lawyers.

10 Arrange events for Major Donors.

11 Ensure that all activity is recorded accurately on the charity’s Customer Relationship Management database, and that actions are undertaken in a timely and professional manner. 

12 Extract monthly reports on activity levels with Major Donors, e.g. number of contacts, meetings, asks, etc., and circulate this internally to selected senior staff members.

Magic Me is one of Arts Council England's National Portfolio Organisations and as we move into the second year of this funding, we're recruiting to the role of Project Manager who will be instrumental in developing new project initiatives, fostering relationships within our Tower Hamlets community, and delivering our established innovative creative care home work in Essex & beyond. 

This post is a 12 month fixed-term contract but we’re working hard with our funding partners to secure the necessary funds to make the post permanent as part of our drive to increase our reach and our impact.

We are seeking an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser to spearhead the Trusts and Foundations programme at the Hall. This is an exciting new role within the team who are eager to invest in this area of income and see immense potential for growth.

Building upon the current small programme, you will lead on initiating conversations with new funders and effectively convey the funding needs of the Hall and capital appeal. Your focus will be on developing and growing an engaged portfolio of trusts and foundations who share the Hall’s vision and ambitions.

As Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will:

• create and coordinate the trusts and foundations strategy focused on driving growth and income;
• personally manage a portfolio of trusts, foundations and other grant funders giving 6- and 7-figure gifts, ensuring you deliver fantastic stewardship and reporting;
• oversee and develop a high value T&F pipeline, proactively cultivating and building relationships with potential funders;
• produce compelling funding proposals, applications and cases for support to secure transformational restricted and unrestricted donations;
• provide leadership and support to the Philanthropy Coordinator – Trusts & Foundations;
• work closely with the rest of the Philanthropy team to identify and maximise the lifetime support of donors and partners.

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable experience of managing and securing 6-figure+, multi-year funding from a range of trusts, foundations and statutory funders
• Proven experience of managing and developing a pipeline of funders
• Exceptional interpersonal and persuasive communication skills, with ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders of all levels
• Line management experience, and keen interest in motivating and developing direct reports
• A creative flare, team player, proactive and tenacious
• Passion for the arts, sciences and the work of the Royal Albert Hall
