The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is recruiting a permanent, full-time Marketing & Communications Manager to lead the strategic development and delivery of marketing and communications activities across the organisation, including the activities of both the BSI and our journals. 

The British Society for Immunology is an influential and authoritative voice for immunology, a key scientific and health field that plays a central role in many of the most pressing global health challenges we face, including research into the COVID-19 pandemic, developing new treatments and vaccines against disease, and supporting ageing populations to experience healthier lives for longer. As Marketing & Communications Manager, you get to work at the heart of this exciting discipline, using your outstanding communication and project management skills to develop impactful content strategies across a wide range of activities, such as membership, events, training and policy projects, to ensure we engage effectively with our members and wider community and maximise our impact for immunology in the UK. On publishing (which will form approximately 20% of the role), the role-holder will be responsible for leading the strategic development of marketing activities for our three journals. A core part of this role is managing two staff members, the Senior Marketing & Communications Officer and Marketing & Communications Officer, and overseeing their professional development.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Policy Manager to join our team. This position is based in the Policy and Public Affairs (PPA) team and reports to the Director of PPA. As part of the External Affairs directorate, we aim to radically improve healthcare for women and girls by influencing positive change within UK Governments.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a small but highly impactful team, taking the lead on issues that are central to the wellbeing of women and girls. You will be responsible for the delivery of the RCOG’s policy strategy and operational plan, working closely with colleagues in PPA, Communications and other teams across the College. You will ensure that the RCOG is at the forefront of policy debates which affect women’s health, and you will work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including women and the RCOG membership, to develop policy solutions to improve the health of women and girls.

• Lead on the development of evidence-based policies on women’s health issues and strategic College priorities.

• Provide expert advice to the RCOG President, Officers, Chief Executive and senior managers  on political and policy matters.

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including policy makers healthcare professionals, women and the wider public.

• Line manage the Policy and Public Affairs Officer.

The Operations Manager is responsible for Dose of Nature’s day-to-day operational management, providing a welcoming and efficient front face and ensuring organisational effectiveness to support the delivery of Dose of Nature’s strategic objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join our warm and friendly charity team on a full-time basis for a period of one year, with the possibility of a part-time position thereafter. Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive greater funding to expand our reach. The nature of the job responsibilities may require occasional flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours up to 6 times per year, or adjusted beginning and ending times, for example to support with monthly evening training sessions. 

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature. We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature, and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing. Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team. 

The role is 37.5 hours per week and will involve working at Pensford Field, Kew, Monday to Wednesday from 9am-5:30pm and from home Thursday and Friday 9-5:30pm.

Role: Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager
Reporting to: Senior Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager
Purpose of job: To work as a key part of the Philanthropy and Partnerships Team, line managed by the Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, and accountable to the Museum’s Director. This role will bring in vital income from trusts, foundations, corporate partners and individuals to deliver the business plan. This role has responsibility for achieving income targets by collaborating across all departments to understand and translate fundable and core activities into compelling cases for support.
Working pattern: 35 hours per week, usually worked from 10 – 6pm. Flexible/hybrid working offered for up 40% of hours to be worked from home.

Salary: c£36,000-38,000 depending on experience

• You will have excellent written and organisational skills; be able to juggle multiple priorities and work across diverse departments; and manage relations with a range of supporters and funding bodies, including timely submission of reports.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporter Identification, Communication and Cultivation

• Identify, research and develop a pipeline of trusts and foundations prospects, ensuring that relationships are well managed and planned for first, second and third requests for funding, as appropriate.
• Identify, research and approach corporate partnership prospects to support agreed priorities such as exhibitions and programmes
• Work closely with colleagues in Events, Commercial and Communications to promote corporate sponsorship packages, including working on communications and campaigns that encourage uptake and renewal

The Philanthropy & Partnerships team
In Autumn 2023, Foundling Museum delivered a successful, ambitious capital campaign to secure the future of the Museum through a variety of supporters, from individuals, major supporters and trusts/foundations.
The Philanthropy team is responsible for the funding revenue needs of the Museum, which for 2024-25 is c£800,000, making up approximately 36% of total income.
The post of Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager will deliver against personal targets toward this goal. Remaining income includes Arts Council England National Portfolio funding, NLHF funding, core earned income (admissions) and trading activities (retail and venue hire).
The Philanthropy and Partnerships team collaborates closely with the Director, Chair of Trustees and Development Consultants and across all departments to understand and translate fundable and core activities into compelling cases for support. Across a year the team raises vital income for exhibitions, learning and participation activities, events, capital projects, an established endowment fund and unrestricted revenue income.

The role:

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective, efficient and accurate day-to-day financial management and financial controls for the Fidelity UK and international Foundations, including leading on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning and delivering the annual reports and accounts for all four Foundations. The post holder will prepare all finance papers for Board and Finance and Investment Subcommittee meetings and will support the oversight of the Foundations’ investment portfolios. This role will also be responsible for managing all payments made by the Foundations, in addition to ensuring risk and compliance guidelines are adhered to at all times.

The person

The successful applicant will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles, ideally with experience of the charitable sector, and a strong track record of day-to-day financial management in a comparable role. You will have strong analytical skills and be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking. You will have a proficiency in accounting (with a relevant finance qualification) and will be able to evidence the successful production of annual accounts and monthly reporting, ensuring monitoring against budgets. Additionally, you will have strong analytical and reporting skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication and presentation skills, and hands-on experience of explaining complex financial information clearly and concisely. Finally, you will have a high degree of humility and a collaborative style and will be able to pro-actively manage a diverse workload on your own initiative.

About the role: 

As our National Youth Project and Campaigns Manager,  you will be responsible for delivering the charity’s youth strategy, we are looking for someone who is well organised, passionate and has a range of skills to work on a diverse project. You will develop engaging, innovative and creative national campaigns reaching young people, parents/guardians and professionals across the UK. You will also be responsible for supporting our Regional Managers in the development of regional campaigns.

• Maintaining, reviewing and developing the Fearless website
• Inspiring and engaging our volunteer Youth Panel. Managing the recruitment and retention of the panel, as well as supporting all projects generated by the group
• Maintaining and developing the suite of Fearless resources; including digital assets, national artwork and crime specific resource booklets

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. The Services Manager will be the key operational lead for the Alliance, and oversee successful delivery of housing casework services to young people fleeing violence and exploitation who are referred in. You should have experience of working in services that support young people fleeing violence or who are impacted by the criminal justice system, and have a solid understanding of housing options for young people under 25. You should be exceptionally well organised and have excellent partnership management skills.
