We have a unique opportunity for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor in a pilot project at Charing Cross Emergency Department. This s a full time position working 37.5 hours per week.

Co-locating, in a health service, an Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA), a Domestic Abuse (DA) Coordinator and a violence prevention worker has never been trialed before anywhere in the UK.

This pilot project aims to showcase a gold standard approach to care for families experiencing DA by: -

• Improving recognition and management of victims and perpetrators of DA
• on-site specialised help for victims and perpetrators
• Building sustainable and long-term partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham council, Standing Together Against Domestic Violence (STADV), and Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP).

About the role:

You may be a qualified IDVA or a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker wanting to work alongside health professionals in a hospital environment, although we will consider applicants from other fields providing you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse.

This role is co-located within Charing Cross Hospital 4 days per week and 1 day per week at our office near Old Street.

You will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.

• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+

• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

• Be comfortable with running group training sessions and be willing and able to share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.

• Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.

Please note that the successful applicant will be required to sign an honorary contract with the Hospital Trust in addition to their contract of employment.

You will need:

• Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).

• Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.

• Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children

• Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.

• Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.

• Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.

• Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

ECHO supports children and young people with heart conditions and their families, who have been treated within the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS network of 47 hospitals. Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect and affects just under 1 in every 100 babies born throughout the UK.

• Develop and oversee the Youth Engagement Programme as part of the ‘100 years of Ashburton Park Project’ including a range of activities in and nearby to Ashburton Park, including after school drop-in’s, evening sessions, group work and one-one mentoring.
• Support the development and engagement of young people in a Food Growing Enterprise based at Ashburton Lodge.
• Work closely with Croydon Council and other partners to support young people to engage with a wide range of programmes and activities that are part of the ‘100 years of Ashburton Park Project’.
• Deliver open access sessions, group and one to one interventions with young people including; half term, afterschool, evenings and residentials, using a planned youth work curriculum.
• Line manage youth workers, sessional youth workers and youth volunteers to plan, deliver and evaluate youth work termly.
• Contribute to the development of youth work across the area and lead on specific areas of work on behalf of the team.

Amongst other requirements, the successful post holder must have:

· Relevant experience OR qualification in Youth & Community (JNC), Social Work (QSW) or SEND.

· Proven experience working with young people ‘at risk’.

· Reliability, with a flexible approach to changes and able to work unsociable hours.

· Experience of project and/or people management

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Act as the main point of contact for visitors to Headway East London.
2. Manage external communications through post, telephone, and email, ensuring information is redirected to the relevant person to be dealt with efficiently and effectively.
3. Undertake regular checks of the office space so it stays organised.
4. Manage the organisational online calendars and the relevant databases and spreadsheets ensuring these are all up to date.
5. Support managers to keep staff rotas up to date, ensuring efficient and effective use of staff time.
6. Manage day service transport bookings daily and keep day service staff informed.
7. Process referral forms for all services ensuring that they are fully complete.
8. Work closely with Service leads to manage service waiting list and liaise with referees where necessary.
9. Work with service leads to provide administrative assistance to support the smooth running of services.
10. Work closely with the Admin and Premises Manager to ensure data collection systems and the Charity Log database function efficiently, are accurate, and are up to date.
11. Support the finance function with administrative tasks as necessary.

IPSEA is the leading charity in the field of special educational needs and disability (SEND) law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. IPSEA has a proven track record of successfully securing grants, and this is a new role designed to help strengthen and grow IPSEA’s income from charitable Trusts and Foundations. You will be responsible for researching new funding opportunities, preparing and submitting tailored applications and reports, and managing relationships with existing funders through thoughtful and timely stewardship. You will also support the early development of strategies in major gifts and wider philanthropy. 

This role is an opportunity to play a key role in our future fundraising strategy and help secure long-term financial sustainability for our services. 

You will work remotely, with occasional travel required for essential meetings approximately 4-5 times per year.

About this job

As the HR Officer you’ll be responsible for providing an efficient, friendly and high-quality HR and recruitment service to our amazing internal customers across the organisation.

You’ll also be undertaking general HR support and provide cover for colleagues within the HR Operations team as and when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Liaising with our managers regarding recruitment and advertising agencies
• Compiling and issuing application recruitment packs, arranging interviews

• Processing new appointments (including completing all required pre-employment checks) and changes to existing employment contracts using established templates

• Responsible for maintaining appropriate paper and electronic records including ensuring that records are compliant with relevant legislation and records management policies
• Processing probation and other documentation
• Supporting with pay and benefits administration
• General admin support as required
