Who we are looking for
Volunteering is a growing area at JDRF with huge potential to connect with people who want to give their time to support the work we do by sharing their lived experience, their enthusiasm or their core skills. To do this we are looking for a passionate, organised and collaborative person to manage our centralised volunteer department.
You will work with teams across JDRF to recruit, retain and steward our amazing volunteers as they support the work JDRF delivers for people living with type 1 diabetes. Promoting the benefits of working with volunteers and ensuring that all teams within JDRF consider the impact volunteers can bring to our work.
You will lead on our volunteer programmes, the Insight and Experience Panel and Youth Ambassadors Programme. Ensuring volunteers receive excellent stewardship alongside delivering to the needs of JDRF. Reviewing and evaluating the programmes alongside agreed KPI’s alongside the administration of these programmes.
You will ensure there is a portfolio of volunteer opportunities that support organisational need and match volunteer motivations and that we review and evaluate the success of opportunities available.
As the first point of contact for volunteer queries, you must be a confident communicator both verbally and in writing. You should be as happy to pick up the phone as you are to write out an email and be able to judge what type of communication works best in different instances.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that all information relating to volunteering is recorded on our database. And that the data is used to help support decisions made within the department.
Above all we’re looking for someone who can get excited about volunteering and champion the benefits of getting involved.

About the role
As News and Media Manager, you will lead a hard-working and experienced team of media experts to bring to life Crisis’ work, demonstrate the solutions needed to tackle homelessness and inspire the public and politicians to join our mission to end it for good. You will oversee the development and delivery of high-profile media and communications campaigns, including our annual Christmas appeal, helping to build our brand. This is a fixed term role covering a secondment in the team, and with an upcoming general election, this is an exciting time take up the role for the next 10 months.
About you
You will have significant experience of working in a challenging, fast-paced news and media environment to secure high-profile coverage and championing the voices of marginalised people. Experience and knowledge of managing and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders is essential in this role, as is the ability to navigate competing priorities to develop and implement creative media strategies that reach a diverse range of audiences.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience of working with the media to help secure policy change at a national government level, outstanding people and project management skills and proven experience when it comes to handling reputational risk. You will also have exceptional news sense, with the ability to take a creative approach when seeking out new media opportunities.

The Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project in Southwark has been successfully supporting families with young children to ensure fruit and vegetables are a part of their everyday diet since 2018. As we enter the seventh year of the project, we are now looking for a new member of staff to join the 1st Place Rose Voucher Project team and support our work in delivering the project, while measuring its wider impact on families. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience of working in a community setting and an understanding of impact and evaluation to take on a key role in the project, involving ongoing interaction with families and professionals.
Job Summary
As Rose Voucher Project Officer, you will be working alongside the Southwark Rose Voucher Project Lead to forward the development of the Rose Voucher Project in Southwark. Your key areas of responsibility will be registering new families onto the Rose Voucher Project, overseeing the two Rose Voucher distribution sessions which take place at both our centres, supported by our dedicated Rose Voucher volunteers, and coordinating and supporting the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Project. You will also provide support to our network of other Rose Voucher distribution centres in Southwark to ensure they are working in a coordinated way and according to agreed processes.
You will be a motivated individual, with excellent written and communication skills, and proven experience of working in a community setting where service users are valued, listened to and respected. Previous experience working with and signposting families is essential to ensure that our Rose Voucher families are aware of the many services and activities available to support and increase their health and wellbeing. We are in the early stages of implementing our 10-year organisational strategy, ARUK: Towards a Cure. Sitting within the Chief Executive’s Office and reporting to the Head of Programme Management, the Project and Programme Manager leads the Project Management team and is responsible for driving complex, strategic projects and facilitating project management best practice across the wider organisation. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Project management
- Deliver key, strategic projects, as determined by the yearly Operational Planning process, working with project teams to develop flexible project plans that can adapt to change.
- Manage project risks and decisions, liaise with third parties, and monitor project progress, ensuring stakeholders are updated at key checkpoints.
- Lead project reviews to capture successes and learnings and ensure project outcomes are embedded into BAU.
- Maintain oversight of key, strategic projects, identifying and managing dependencies as they arise.
Programme management
- Support the Head of Programme Management in scoping large programmes of work in line with our wider organisational strategy.
- Support the development of strategic working groups and assist the Head of Programme Management in monitoring progress against key strategic activities.
- Support delivery of the annual Operational Planning process
Team management
- Facilitate project management best practice across the wider organisation, contributing to the delivery of the Project Management Masterclass and developing and leading an internal Project Management consultation service.
- Line-manage and support the Projects Lead to ensure they deliver work to a high standard and their personal development is supported. Carry out annual appraisals and quarterly meetings.
What we are looking for:

- Sound knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile).
