Welfare benefits jobs
About the Foundation
We’re an independent charitable foundation funded by Lloyds Banking Group. We work in partnership with small and local charities, people and communities, changing lives and working towards a more just and compassionate society.
This is an exciting time to join Lloyds Bank Foundation. We are coming to the end of our strategy period and under the leadership of a new CEO, we are developing and rolling out our new strategy, brand and values. We believe this will enable us to turbocharge our work, allowing us to have an even bigger impact to create social change and cohesion and ensuring people in England and Wales are in a good place.
About the Programme
The Foundation has been awarded a £2.1m grant by the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) to deliver a pilot as part of it's Grant Holder Support programme. This pilot, Investing in the Power of Civil Society (IIPCS), will support up to 640 charities across the Northwest, Southwest of England and Yorkshire and Humber .
Delivered in partnership with eight organisations — IVAR, Groundwork UK and local trusts, CAST, The School for Social Entrepreneurs, NCVO, Voice4Change England, the AVOCADO Foundation and Access (advisory) — the pilot will offer diagnostic-led, tailored and relational support to help organisations strengthen their work.
Support will focus on resilience, environmental impact, readiness for AI and digital technology, enabling participating charities to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing world. With a strong emphasis on equity and access, the pilot is designed to ensure organisations of all sizes and backgrounds can benefit.
We will be using a test-and-learn approach — trying out new ways of supporting charities, learning from what works and what doesn’t, and using those insights to improve future programmes. This approach will help shape NLCF’s future support for both grant holders and grant seekers, strengthen the Foundation and partners’ own development practice, and contribute to wider learning across the sector.
About the Role
As Relationship Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering this new, collaborative pilot programme. You’ll be the key point of contact for grant holders referred into the programme, guiding them through a diagnostic process, co-creating tailored development plans, and connecting them with the right support.
You’ll also work closely with National Lottery Community Fund Funding Officers, helping them make confident and effective referrals. Your work will ensure that learning from these relationships directly informs the future design of the programme and how the UK’s largest non-statutory community funder supports small charities.
This is a highly relational role that requires empathy, curiosity, and a deep understanding of the voluntary sector.
The Benefits
- Salary of £48,240 per annum (FTE)
- There is flexibility as to where this role is based; however, regular travel to London and across England will be required, with some overnight stays
- A further list of benefits can be found on the Lloyds Bank Foundation website.
About You
You are passionate about supporting small and local charities and have a strong understanding of the challenges they face.
You bring experience of working directly with organisations to identify development goals, build capacity, and improve service delivery.
You are a confident relationship-builder, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders—from charity leaders to funders and delivery partners. You are organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Strong knowledge of the voluntary sector, particularly small and local charities.
- Experience supporting organisations through capacity-building or development work.
- Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, both in-person and virtually.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Confidence using CRM systems and digital tools.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
Experience working in partnerships or consortia, or familiarity with test-and-learn approaches, would be a bonus.
So, if you’re ready to bring your expertise to a collaborative, test-and-learn programme as a Relationship Manager, please apply via the button shown. We are hoping for an immediate start for the position or as soon as possible thereafter.
- The deadline for applications is Sunday 7th December at 23:30.
- Interviews with shortlisted candidates will be held online on Thursday 18th December.
We support small, local and specialist charities across England and Wales.

At The Humane League, we believe in maintaining a fair and nondiscriminatory work environment. As part of our commitment to transparency, we have implemented a job architecture framework, which levels all of our roles according to size and complexity, as well as a compensation step system, which allows us to determine fair salaries for all. We also look at market data for each country that we operate in, to allow us to create specific salary bands per country. This work is time consuming and involves a cost to THL. Therefore, when expanding into a country for the first time, we only undertake this work towards the end of the recruitment process, when we know where our ideal candidate is based. In addition, we have adopted a no negotiation policy for salaries. To determine a job's level, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including a job's size and complexity, required experience, knowledge, and/or skills, internal comparability, and market data. Candidates whose experience places them at step 5 or above of their job level within our compensation structure will be awarded a “senior” title designation. These practices are aligned with our organizational values and will help us ensure we maintain clear, consistent, and transparent HR processes.
THL offers a unique and competitive benefits package. Each country will be provided with benefits that are applicable and relative to the location they are in. Therefore, your exact benefits package will be shared with you at the time of offer. However, as an idea, some of the benefits that are currently offered to our global team are:
- Unlimited paid time off
- The last Friday of every month off as a THL ‘Public Holiday’ called ‘Mend Your Heart Friday’
- Enhanced sick pay
- Generous bereavement leave
- Generous personal emergency leave
- Sabbatical leave

We are seeking a committed and creative Outreach and Communications Officer who will be responsible for sharing our knowledge and expertise as widely as possible.
About The Role
The Unity Project (TUP) supports people who are facing poverty and homelessness because their immigration status allows them ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NRPF). We believe NRPF should not exist and we are working to end it. Until then, we seek to minimise its impact by supporting people to make the ‘change of conditions’ (CoC) application to access public funds. However, as the number of people living under NRPF continues to grow, we know we will never be able to meet the need for CoCs. Ensuring that our knowledge and experience is shared - with advisors, support services, community groups and individuals who could make applications themselves - is vital. Raising awareness of our work also supports our income diversification strategy by building corporate partnerships and individual donations.
In this role, you will be leading The Unity Project’s outreach and communications work in order to increase awareness of the Change of Conditions process and the support The Unity Project can offer to individuals and organisations. Your first priorities will include mapping CoC provision across the country; working with the Director to design and implement a communications strategy to engage applicants, advice organisations, corporate partners and donors; and creating a suite of CoC resources to share online. As you develop in the role, you will deliver outreach and information sessions online and in the community. We hope that over time you will have the opportunity to grow, take on new responsibilities and help to shape how we do outreach and communications as we evolve.
About The Unity Project
Who we are
The Unity Project is a small charity that supports people with ‘Change of Conditions’ (CoC) applications required for access to public funds.
Why we exist
We want everyone living in the UK to have equal access to the welfare system. We exist to challenge the 'no recourse to public funds' (NRPF) policy in order to end it and, until then, minimise its impact.
Our values
We aim to be:
- Representative of and accountable to people who are navigating or have navigated the systems we want to change.
- Sustainable, so we can continue our work as long as it is needed.
- Trauma informed, recognising the impact of prior traumatic experiences and promoting an organisational culture which is safe, transparent, collaborative and responds empathically to each individual’s needs.
- Rooted in community, as we believe that strength comes from relationships of solidarity and mutual support.
- Equitable to all who give their time to the project.
- Tenacious, innovative, reflective and adaptable in our casework.
Our benefits
- Salary - £37,800 pro rata
- Flexibility - We all work together in person on Tuesdays. Beyond that we can be flexible about how you meet your hours.
- Annual leave - 35 days inclusive of bank holidays, plus a regular Christmas closure period (subject to board approval)
- Pension - 5% employee contribution, 8% employer contribution
- Clinical supervision - All staff have access to monthly clinical supervision
- Wellbeing - All staff have a personal wellbeing budget to spend as they need
- Professional development - We organise regular all-staff training sessions to address needs identified by the team, and every staff member has an individual training budget for their own professional development. We aim to support all staff to grow and shape their roles in line with their career aspirations.
- Immigration support - On a case by case basis, we may be able to offer legal assistance with the immigration applications necessary to sustain this employment in compliance with UK immigration law.
- Working environment - We are a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers. We believe that effective opposition to the hostile environment is rooted in our relationships with each other and our community.
