Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare. 

What can you expect to be doing? 

• Communicating with others including newsletter, social networking and website volunteers
• Advising others on the content of newsletters and web posts
• Interacting with others to make sure information is positive, accurate and consistent
• Liaising with your volunteer group and our National Cat Centre to organise media campaigns
• Responding to local media requests if required

They directly help cats by raising awareness of Cats Protection. As an Assistant Speed Skate Coach (Volunteer), you will assist in supporting the Speed Skate Coach in delivering training sessions for athletes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in coaching and help develop skaters of various levels, supporting them as they work towards their personal and competitive goals. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Assist in planning and delivering speed skating training sessions. 

• Provide one-on-one or small group support during training. 

• Help athletes develop their skating technique, speed, and endurance. 

• Support the monitoring and tracking of participant progress. 

• Assist with setting up and maintaining equipment before and after sessions.

Volunteering as part of our Cycle Hire addition to Ickworth's Visitor Experience, this role is to shape and develop the cycling culture at Ickworth and support with customer service as well as hiring out bikes.

To support the Cycle Hire Supervisor in the day to day running of the cycle hire hub

• Helping visitors navigate and plan their cycle route across the estate 
• Basic bike repairs (if you can, training can be provided)

Volunteer with the RAF Air Cadets – Make a Real Difference in Young Lives 

Do you want to help shape the next generation? As a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer (CFAV) with the Air Training Corps, you'll be supporting teenagers aged 12 to 20 as they grow into confident, capable and compassionate young adults. Whether you're helping them learn new skills, face exciting challenges, or just listening when they need advice, you’ll play a key role in guiding young people through some of the most important years of their lives – and make friendships and memories of your own along the way. 

There are plenty of practical reasons to get involved, too. The RAF Air Cadets is a national organisation with over 45,000 members and an incredible range of opportunities – from flying experiences and adventure training, to STEM activities, overseas camps, expeditions, and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. As a volunteer, you’ll receive full training and gain recognised qualifications in youth leadership, first aid, and more. Detailed description

Having access to a secure garden or outdoor area can be crucial for providing opportunities to socialise and relax, which can be invaluable for the mental well-being of our residents.

The gardening and growing volunteer will support our accommodation sites in maintaining their outdoor spaces, including:

·Weeding

·Sweeping

·Pruning

·Clearing leaves and large twigs

·Watering plants

·Planting bulbs and tidying up flower beds

We would love for this to be an opportunity to involve our residents and potentially lead a gardening activity with them, equipping them with knowledge and skills to maintain their own green spaces in the future. 

You will need:

• Enjoy working outside in all weathers.
• An interest/basic knowledge of gardening
• Role requires some degree of physical work and lifting/manual handling
• To work under your own initiative.
• Good communication skills
• Opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills

A full induction to the service and specific site will be provided as well as access to training and events throughout the year!

Some sites have basic tools however any additional tools and material required can be discussed with your volunteer manager .

Are you dedicated to supporting young people and want to make a difference to siblings and young carers? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

A sibling or young carer is a young person who lives with a family member with a disability, such as a parent or sibling, often providing support or care. Here at Sense, we know that it’s not always easy being a young carer, or the sibling of a disabled person. Their wellbeing and happiness are just as important. That is why we deliver activities and sessions specifically for young people aged 5-18, who have a caring role for a parent or have a sibling with a disability.

We run a wide range of virtual group sessions after school and at weekends. Our sessions are designed to meet the interests of the young people we support, supporting their wellbeing, giving them opportunities to socialise with other siblings and young carers, and providing a fun break that is just for them. 

We are looking for volunteers to engage groups of young people through fun, interactive, and accessible Zoom workshops. Volunteers will support existing workshops by running games and activities with their assigned groups of young people. This could involve:

• Leading activities in your own Zoom room
• Running a Zoom session independently
• Quizzes
• Book clubs
• Film nights
• Online/digital games
• Challenges
• Board games/party games

We also welcome your application if you have exciting new activity ideas for young people to partake in. This a great opportunity to deliver impactful recreational sessions to siblings and young carers across the country. 

You do not need to have previous experience working with siblings or young carers, we will provide you with training and ongoing support to equip you for your role.

Our staff team will be there to support you every step of the way. The volunteer role is really flexible – you might run workshops after school, evenings, or any time at the weekend – once a month, twice a month, or more if you’d like! You will build up a great rapport with the young people and gain amazing experience supporting them each month.

About the role 

As a Regional Fundraising Volunteer, you will support Rethink Mental Illness in generating income, raising awareness, and building community engagement through local fundraising initiatives. The role will involve event planning and support, and public engagement to help achieve regional fundraising goals. 

You will play a major part in bringing to life regional fundraising activities in line with our “Rethink in the Community" concept and increase regional awareness to generate much needed additional income and amplify the impact of the work Rethink Mental Illness do.

You will receive training and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role.

One way we are doing is through our valued staff networks which play a critical and highly valued role in keeping us focused on creating a diverse, inclusive and engaged employer.  We recognise and support staff networks for our Black, Asian and minority ethnic and our LGBTQIA+ colleagues. We are also proud to have been awarded Disability Confident Employer status and are a signatory to the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter.   

Becoming a truly anti-racist organisation   

We have an ambition of become a truly anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation and service provider - and in our efforts to influence policy and wider societal factors impacting on mental health set out in our anti-racist statement . We have designed a multi-year anti-racist programme of work contained in our Race Equality Action Plan which demonstrate our intention to hold ourselves accountable and be judged on our progress on becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.
