About You

As the twin nature and climate crises continue to accelerate, communities are already feeling the effects of increased flooding, drought and soil loss. At the same time, nature disconnectedness is causing many people to feel powerless to act. This role seeks to redress that balance, by telling the stories of nature recovery from those that it is affecting directly. To give a voice to local communities and amplify these messages in ways that inspire others to take action be that through direct action, policy making, funding or wider support. 

The Temperate Rainforest Restoration Programme is a £38.9 million, 100-year programme working in a long-term partnership with Aviva. Native to the British Isles, temperate rainforest is an incredibly rare and biodiverse habitat, rarer even, than its tropical counterpart. This programme is going beyond traditional habitat restoration and creating new rainforests on eligible sites across the bioclimatic envelope (the area along our Atlantic coastline with the specific conditions needed for rainforest to thrive). 

This post will work across teams within The Wildlife Trusts’ to tell the story of this restoration and promote the importance of temperate rainforests based on connecting with people and telling their first-hand accounts of the work of Wildlife Trusts along the west of the UK, with a particular focus on Wales. This role will need to relay stories of how nature restoration benefits communities helping them adapt to our changing climate. Your work will give a voice to living memories of the land but also look ahead, effectively and compassionately communicating the need for a just transition to create more resilient landscapes that benefit future generations. 

About You 

You are a passionate science communicator with a demonstrable ability to inspire action in others for nature’s recovery. Your strong communications skills include the ability to create clear, audience-specific messaging and use digital tools to engage and connect with people wherever they are. You can build coherent narratives so that stories gather momentum over time and balance personal storytelling with the need to maintain brand consistency. Your outgoing and collaborative working style also makes you comfortable engaging with people face to face, going to meet people where they are and using these relationships to share real-world stories which foster a sense of shared ownership of content produced. 

Experience of working in rural or farming contexts is beneficial, particularly in terms of Welsh culture and while knowledge of UK nature conservation, particularly woodlands, is helpful, it is not essential. What matters most is your ability to build rapport quickly and tell stories with conviction whoever the audience.

Ecologist (Inverbroom)

We’re looking for a dedicated Ecologist to support the development phase of a landmark conservation initiative at Inverbroom, a 7,000-hectare reserve in the Scottish Highlands. About the Role 

You will: 

· Oversee contracted habitat surveys including National Vegetation Classification (NVC) surveys across the Reserve. 

· Undertake habitat condition assessment surveys and woodland Herbivore Impact Assessments (HIAs). Oversee contracted dwarf shrub heath and blanket bog HIAs. 

· Undertake protected species surveys, including but not limited to otter, water vole, red squirrel, pine marten, badger and bat surveys. 

· Undertake breeding bird surveys, including upland wader surveys. 

· Oversee contracted ecological river surveys. 

· Undertake Invasive Non-Native Species surveys, including plants and mammals. 

About You

· Proven comprehensive knowledge of Scottish habitats and species experience 

· Significant experience in ecological surveys/monitoring, ideally including habitats, birds and protected mammals 

· Significant experience of preparation of reports and presentation of key results

Job overview

The role will focus  on growing the value of funding from large trusts and foundations globally, as well as from corporate foundations and institutional funders via consortium partnerships with larger conservation actors.

The role will oversee grant and contract management with existing organisational and institutional partnerships, as well as grow this portfolio through developing a robust pipeline of new opportunities, finding creative ways to secure visibility and first meetings, developing relationships, compelling funding applications and ensuring strong contract management oversight.

The role will lead a team of two, work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues based in the US and UK to secure visibility with and develop strong long-term partnerships with new Trusts and Foundations; and work closely with colleagues in Kenya to ensure strong project delivery and grant management. Responsibilities include:

• Lead the implementation of the Trusts & Foundations (T&Fs) programme with a particular focus on growing the portfolio of large T&Fs in the USA, UK and European markets;
• Work with fundraising colleagues across priority markets and with communications colleagues, using innovative and proactive approaches to business development and relationship building to unlock visibility opportunities and develop relationships with new prospects; in order to develop and maintain a strong pipeline of high-value funding opportunities.  
• Continue to oversee the current ‘programme funding’ portfolio which includes existing institutional funding partnerships and corporate foundation relationships in Kenya, ensuring that ongoing and new opportunities where they exist are capitalised on.
• Collaborate closely with and provide technical expertise to Ol Pejeta’s Project Implementation function in Kenya to develop and embed ‘programme funding’ systems, policies, processes, to ensure that the organisation works to the highest standards in grant management;
• Oversee collaboration and co-working with Ol Pejeta’s Programme teams and other colleagues to ensure high quality  project design content is translated into  technical proposals and budgets for donors;
• Work closely with Kenya’s implementation function to support strong project delivery and contract management. 
• As a Head of, actively contribute to team and department objectives through decision making and action on planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.

Key Activities

• Support the Chief Fundraising Officer with overall strategy development, implementation and adaptation;
• Work closely with the Chief Fundraising Officer to ensure operational and budget planning, management and reporting of resources;
• Oversee the T&F team’s operational planning processes, annual reporting and core performance monitoring;
• Strategic coordination of multiple stakeholders in proposal development processes (programme experts, internal stakeholders, partners and donors);
• Build strong relationships across all departments of the organisation and with existing and new partners;
• Support the recruitment process/selection/appointment of fundraising staff across the department.

Strategic leadership delivery and management of Trusts and Foundations priority in the global fundraising strategy.

• Develop and implement tactics for T&Fs that support Ol Pejeta to meet its overall strategic objectives;  
• Ensure that the relevant parts of the Fundraising strategy, planning and practice is adaptive to both internal and external changes and that the team adopts innovative approaches to its work;
• Effectively integrate T&F team objectives and outcomes into wider Ol Pejeta income targets and programme priorities.

Business development and management

• Proactively cultivate relationships with key prospects, donors and partners (with particular focus on US, UK and European markets);
• Network both internally and externally to ensure relevant stakeholder participation and intelligence gathering in various fora;
• Lead and coordinate proposal development, including budgeting, with programme teams and finance;
• Collaborate with Ol Pejeta’s communications and marketing department to ensure communication activities appeal to donor interests, promote our partnerships and help to position Ol Pejeta as a partner of choice;
• Research and share trends and intelligence on T&Fs, and develop relationships that strategically position the organisation to mobilise resources from new and existing donors.

Support effective grant & risk management and compliance

• Support the development and implementation of improved business policies to facilitate improved management of and accountability for T&F funding and other larger institutional partnerships;
• Provide quality assurance and technical backstopping on reporting and general compliance, in line with organisational and donor requirements;
• Guide the negotiation of strategic grants/contracts to ensure the organisation signs up to appropriate contractual requirements;
• Advise on the interpretation and application of donor rules, regulations, processes and procedures;
• Provide guidance and capacity building on grant cycle management to colleagues across the organisation.

People Management, Financial Management and Departmental contributions

• Provide inductions to staff across the organisation on T&Fs and institutional funding opportunity;
• Build, motivate and effectively collaborate with teams remotely;
• Conduct probationary reviews and annual performance management reviews for direct line management staff;
• Support the Chief Fundraising Officer to have oversight of the team budget lines;
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in the global fundraising team based in different geographical locations
• Contribute to overall departmental processes and initiatives;
• Act within the parameters set by the organisation on financial policies and procedures.

Capacity Building and Knowledge Management

• Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration to strengthen fundraising and grant management skills across the organisation;
• Oversee the development and maintenance of information systems and tools for sharing donor policies and guidelines, funding opportunities and best practice across the organisation;
• Keep pace with international developments and engage with other INGOs to keep abreast of opportunities and global trends in T&F fundraising.

Education, Language & Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent in a relevant field preferably Fundraising / International Development;
• Excellent verbal and written communication with fluency in English;
• Language skills in Swahili and German advantageous.

Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience

• Relevant experience working in an international NGO or philanthropy environment with diverse workforce;
• Experience in Trusts & Foundation fundraising across international markets;
• Demonstrated experience cultivating and managing relationships with trusts and foundation donors (or others) to secure six figure grants;
• Substantial experience cultivating and managing donor and stakeholder relationships;
• Exceptional interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with demonstrable proactivity in business development;
• Strong technical proposal writing and budget skills;
• Strong ability to manage staff and influence team members remotely;
• Ability to manage and facilitate complex projects and processes;
• Experience working on the African continent with a deep knowledge of conservation and community development;
• Willingness to travel internationally as required;

The Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) is dedicated to protecting orangutans, their forests, and their future. Together with our local partners in Sumatra, we’re protecting vital ecosystems and creating resilient landscapes where orangutans – and people – can thrive.

We’re looking for an experienced and creative fundraiser to lead our individual giving and supporter engagement programmes, grow our supporter base, and champion innovation in public engagement and income generation. You’ll be rallying resources which will ultimately help us grow our impact for wild orangutans and the people living alongside them.

The Role

As Head of Individual Giving & Supporter Engagement, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of SOS’s public fundraising portfolio – inspiring individuals around the world to take action and give generously for the future of Sumatra’s rainforests and wildlife.

You’ll be responsible for individual giving, digital acquisition and retention, legacies, appeals and campaigns, and supporter events. You’ll be given the freedom to innovate, identifying and developing new income streams and engagement products and approaches that help us reach and inspire new audiences.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with strong acquisition experience, who can help us grow and diversify our supporter base.

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll work closely with communications, partnerships, and programmes colleagues to build an engaged community of supporters and advocates for SOS.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the development and delivery of SOS’s public fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and income targets.

• Set and manage income and expenditure budgets for all individual giving fundraising streams, ensuring healthy ROI and sustainability. 

• Set clear targets and KPIs, with robust financial planning, forecasting, and monitoring.

• Foster innovation across public fundraising, developing and testing new products and propositions.

• Promote a culture of data and insight-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and connecting our supporters to the impact they enable.

Individual Giving & Donor Development

• Oversee acquisition, retention, and uplift strategies for individual donors, ensuring a seamless and inspiring supporter journey.

• Design and manage a calendar of appeals and campaigns, including the Big Give Christmas Challenge.

• Work closely with Communications & Marketing colleagues to deliver compelling creative content and integrated fundraising campaigns across digital channels.
   

Digital Fundraising

• Lead on digital acquisition strategy and performance, testing and optimising paid and organic campaigns to grow SOS’s online giving and supporter base.

Legacies & Events

• Develop and implement SOS’s legacy marketing strategy, raising awareness and nurturing pledgers and enquirers with care and authenticity.

• Manage fundraising events (such as our Buffoonery comedy night) and oversee community fundraising initiatives, optimising engagement and lifetime value.
   

Collaboration & Management

• Line manage the Development Assistant, ensuring that our supporters receive outstanding stewardship.

• Work closely with colleagues across Development, Communications, and Programmes to ensure a joined-up approach to engagement, conversion, and storytelling.

• Keep up to date with sector trends, digital innovations, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and best practice in all fundraising activity.
   

About You

Essential:

• Significant experience in individual giving and/or digital fundraising, including both strategy development and delivery.

• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding income targets across multiple channels.

Purpose of the role

The Prospect Research Manager will be instrumental in identifying and unlocking the potential of these supporters.

This strategic role sits at the heart of our Development team, building and maintaining a data-led pipeline of high-impact donors to advance ZSL’s conservation science, fieldwork, and education. By leading on prospect research, philanthropic analysis, and network mapping, the postholder will help ensure ZSL’s fundraising efforts are focused, proactive, and aligned with our organisational priorities.

The Prospect Research Manager will play a key role in overseeing best practices in prospecting across the team. From crafting research tools to spotting new funding opportunities, this role will directly support the success of ZSL’s fundraising programmes and, ultimately, our mission to save wildlife around the world.

This is a part-time role, with the option of working either 2 days (15 hours) or 3 days (21.5 hours) per week which can be spread flexibly over 5 days. We see a real benefit in face to face collaboration and staff work from our London offices regularly.  We understand that flexibility is important and for this research-based role we are happy to discuss working location on a case-by-case basis with candidates.

The full-time equivalent (FTE) salary for this role is £36,750-£43,050, which equates to a pro-rata salary of:

Key responsibilities: 

• Prospect Research & Pipeline Development: Conduct high-quality, targeted prospect research to identify and support new fundraising opportunities across ZSL’s priority income streams: institutional fundraising, individual giving, and corporate partnerships.

• Knowledge of data protection regulations and how it applies to prospect research and development (e.g. GDPR and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice).
• Experience of successfully implementing a prospect development strategy to support increasing and diversifying income.
• Proven experience in identifying and conducting detailed research on high-net-worth individuals, trusts and corporates for the higher education / charity sector.
• Evidenced track record of supporting fundraisers with insights in fundraising to achieve six or seven figure donations.
• Experience of using databases within fundraising for prospect management and reporting and making appropriate data management recommendations (Tessitura would be an advantage).
• Knowledge of the principles of philanthropic analysis, relationship mapping and connections, and what makes a good fundraising prospect.

We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Programme Officer to work with a small friendly team, supporting the delivery of high-impact events and citizen science programmes connecting people with nature.

About the Role

As Programme Officer, you’ll play a key part in delivering a varied and inspiring events programme that engages thousands of people each year. Working closely with colleagues, partners and volunteers, you’ll help bring flagship events to life, including the Festival of Nature, Wild Summit and Communicate conference.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of events for both public and professional audiences
• Contributing to the development and coordination of citizen science programmes
• Handling event administration, including ticketing and logistics
• Liaising with partners, contributors, volunteers and attendees
• Supporting communication and marketing activities
• Coordinating volunteer recruitment, support and management
• Gathering data and supporting evaluation and reporting for funders and partners

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, well organised and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll enjoy variety in your role and be happy to get stuck in to make things happen.

You don’t need to have worked in the environmental or charity sector before. We’re more interested in your ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly and confidently, and work effectively with a wide range of external stakeholders. Purpose of the job

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed individual to fulfil the combined role of project manager for the Roding Rises project, and catchment partnership co-host for the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne catchment partnership. The Roding Rises is an ambitious 3-year project funded through The National Lottery Heritage Fund that aims to deliver the following key outcomes: 

1. Raise the value placed on the river Roding by the local community through a river connection programme of engagement events that will work with urban and rural communities throughout the Roding catchment.

1. Raise protection of the river Roding through a citizen science action programme, giving communities and catchment partners the data and knowledge to advocate for the river, and through a masterplan for the lower Roding, which will influence and inform future development. 

1. Raise the quality of the habitat in and along the river through the delivery of a significant capital river restoration scheme and a catchment grants programme, so the river brings maximum benefits to both people and wildlife.  

1. Deliver a legacy for the river Roding by integrating the outputs of The Roding Rises with ambitions of the wider catchment partnership and using the project as a springboard for leveraging further catchment-scale restoration work.

The Roding Rises Project Manager will work alongside a multidisciplinary Thames21 team to ensure each element of the project is delivered on time, within budget, and with maximum impact. 

Within the role of co-host of the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne Catchment Partnership, this position will help develop and advance the namesake catchment’s action plan through building the partnership, facilitating knowledge exchange between various partners, and working across the partnership to develop and successfully fundraise for river & catchment improvement projects. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the delivery of ‘The Roding Rises’ project, ensuring each work programme delivers its required goals on time, within budget and with maximum impact.  

• Work with The Roding Rises admin and finance officer to ensure the smooth administration and reporting of the project. 

• Develop and oversee the administration of The Roding Rises grants scheme.

• Support the Roding Rises Engagement, Evidence and River Restoration leads with the administration and coordination of their direct areas of work.

•  Line manage and oversee the work of the Roding Rises Reporting and Finance Officer.

• Work with Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, to identify, scope and develop river and catchment improvement projects which are realistic and fundable, thereby enabling the implementation of the Catchment Partnership’s Objectives and Catchment Action Plans to meet national environmental objectives.

• Arrange, host and coordinate meetings for The Roding Rises and the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne Catchment Partnership to share knowledge, news and project progress between stakeholders, including the production of agendas, minutes and actions.

• With support from Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, lead on the development of match funding applications for The Roding Rises project, and wider funding applications to enable the delivery of river improvement projects across the catchment partnership.

• Work with Catchment Partners and Thames21 support functions, to share information between partners and stakeholders to ensure that all interested parties are up to date with the latest information and knowledge of techniques, opportunities and developments in areas relevant to the Partnerships. 

• Update Thames21 central record-keeping databases in line with GDPR requirements. 

• Represent Thames2, the Catchment Partnership and The Roding Rises project at events throughout the catchment.

Cameron's Cottage is the RSPB's residential centre for young people, located within the stunning woodlands at RSPB Franchises Lodge in the New Forest. The small and dedicated team is passionate about connecting young people to nature.

We are seeking a well-organised, communicative team member to provide comprehensive administrative support to both Cameron’s Cottage, and the reserve team, in facilitating the fulfilment of bookings and an effective working environment. Regular tasks include, liaising with group leaders, keeping bookings and finance documents updated, arranging meetings, coordinating deliveries, arranging contractors for routine maintenance and assisting with marketing & promotion.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint  and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of budget management terminology and processes.
• Experience of billing software for invoices, purchase orders etc.
• Organisational and time management skills.
• Proactive approach to problem solving.
• Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences whether by phone, email or in person.
• Able to organise meetings events and take bookings and coordinate all aspects of the logistics to ensure things run smoothly.
• Able to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities.
• Prioritising and delegating tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand.
• Experience of working in an office or customer care environment in an administrative role.
• Proactive approach to all tasks, making the most of all booking/marketing opportunities.

Additional Information:

• This is a part-time, fixed-term role for 3 months until the end of March 2026.
• The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
• As this role is dependent on funding, any subsequent contract extension may be fewer hours.
• The role is 22.5 hours per week, which can be conducted flexibly.
• Although this role is mainly home-based, there will be a requirement to attend on-site meetings periodically.
