About the role:

This is not a role where you sit on the sidelines. This is a role where you show up, stand alongside women, and help create the kind of safety and belief that many have never experienced before.

In our Women’s Respite Service in Camden, you’ll be working with women who have faced abuse, exploitation and homelessness, often after systems have let them down. You’ll be part of a space that feels different. A space where women are listened to, where their experiences are understood, and where they can begin to rebuild a sense of control over their lives.

No two days will look the same. One moment you might be de-escalating a sensitive situation, the next you’re advocating with services, or sitting alongside someone as they begin to make sense of what they’ve been through. You’ll use your understanding of trauma, gender informed practice and the realities of violence against women and girls to shape how support is delivered, making sure every interaction is grounded in safety, dignity and respect.

You’ll hold a small but complex caseload, working intensively with women to build trust, navigate risk and move towards stability and independence. You won’t give up easily. You’ll stay curious, creative and persistent, even when progress feels slow or uncertain.

As a senior in the team, your impact goes further. You’ll lead by example, guiding colleagues through complex situations and helping to embed a way of working that truly recognises what women have experienced and what they need to move forward. You’ll help shape a service that doesn’t just respond to crisis, but creates real, lasting change.

Our Young People & Families (YP&F) Operational Hub delivers a wide range of integrated support services designed to help resolve complex difficulties experienced by young people and their families/carers.

Support is provided to people who find themselves in a range of circumstances; they may be missing from home or have emotional, housing or substance misuse issues. We also support families where parents/carers are experiencing domestic abuse, substance misuse, emotional issues, youth violence, exploitation, homelessness or unemployment. Whatever the situation, we work alongside young people and their carers to find a way of stabilising their lives.

Redthread is one of our services delivered as part of the Young People and Families Hub within Catch22. 

Job Description

Redthread is a hospital based youth work service, working alongside NHS staff and other professionals in emergency departments.

Our experienced, specialist youth workers engage with and support young people, aiming to reduce serious youth violence and exploitation. We often meet young people at a moment of change and work with them to find a positive way forward.

We provide long-term, holistic support. We consider every aspect of a young person’s life and build support around them.

The Young Women's Worker role is to be part of the youth work team within Redthread, whose  primary focus is around providing youth violence interventions in a health care setting.

In this role you will be part of the Youth Violence Intervention team at St George's Hospital. You will support young women aged, 11-25 years old, who present to hospital following an incident of violence/sexual violence of for whom them there are concerns around exploitation (criminal and sexual) or extra-familial harm. You will work with the young women in the hospital as well as supporting them post discharge to ensure they have the support in place that they need and want. The Young Women's Worker provides long term, holistic support and can work with a young women for up to a year.

Main responsibilities include:

• Holding a caseload of young women and to support them in a range of settings and support their personal, emotional, educational and health and social development through all interactions 
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to safeguarding young women 
• Ensure young women's details and case records are kept up to date on our case management system
• Support the delivery of training to clinicians

Qualifications

Key Skills and Qualifications are: 

• Significant professional experience of working with vulnerable young people in a range of activities and settings
• Experience of working as an effective team member
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of working autonomously
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of the physical, social and emotional developmental needs of young people and especially young women 
• Understanding of the issues faced by young people living in inner city areas
• An awareness of child protection and safeguarding issues and knowledge of current best practice within the youth work sector
• A knowledge of best practice in case recording

Additional information

Hours & work pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week including regular weekend and evening working and shift patterns covering hours of 9am - 9pm.

Spires was established as a response to homelessness in the late 1980s. Spires has developed into an organization that provides a range of services, including day centre style drop-ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working. Our core mission is to support homeless people into housing and to assist those who have been homeless in maintaining their accommodation.

Part 1:  The Role

The Women’s Service Coordinator will manage Spires’ Women’s service offer. The Women’s Service offer comprises of:

• Spires-Street Link, which is a dedicated nighttime outreach service to support women who are involved in street-based sex working. This includes follow up work, casework, and multi-agency working.
• Centre based support for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This also includes casework and supporting Spires’ Housing and Homelessness team.

Part 2: Key duties and responsibilities

• Manage a small team of support workers and a team of dedicated volunteers.
• Oversee the delivery of effective assessment and allocation for clients.
• Oversee the effectiveness of casework across the Women’s Service.
• Directly support a small caseload of clients.
• Manage the team’s rota to ensure sufficient coverage across activities.
• Represent Spires to external organisations, developing and maintaining good working relationships with other professionals, community organisations, and statutory agencies.
• Manage the teams’ outcomes and data to produce reports for funders and stakeholders.
• Support Spires’ fundraising manager in making applications where required.

Part 3: Person specification

Essential experience: 

• Experience of working with women with complex support needs (including substance addiction, mental health needs, domestic violence, no recourse to public funds and sex working) .
• Experience of managing people within a relevant sector.
• Experience of challenging appropriately and maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries
• Networking and effectively liaising with specialist service providers or agencies in order to establish and/or improve access to services for clients.

Desirable experience: 

• Relevant management experience
• Working with people who are sex-working

Essential knowledge: 

• Sound understanding of the issues faced by women and other individuals involved in sex work.
• Understanding of the legislation around supporting the victims of Domestic Violence.
• Understanding of the effects of trauma on people and how to work in a trauma informed way.
• Good understanding of safeguarding practices in outreach work, social care and/or day centre environment. 
• Good understanding of confidentiality and working with sensitive information. 
• Good understanding of the principles of people management.

Essential skills and personal qualities: 

• Willingness to work unsocial hours
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills 
• Full drivers’ licence (required for outreach)
• Ability to effectively manage time, work under pressure and balance competing priorities to meet deadlines 
• IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and databases 
• Honest and reliable, with ability to maintain enthusiasm for a high level of contact with clients on a day-to-day basis 
• A commitment to providing a safe and inclusive service to all regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age

Part 4: Summary of terms and conditions of service 

Probation: This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Notice: This post is subject to one week’s notice during the probationary period and a six-week notice period thereafter. 

Annual leave: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year pro rata, made up of eight bank and public holidays and 27 days annual leave. The 27 days annual leave is normally split between 24 ‘bookable’ days and three closure days that fall between Christmas and the New Year.

Pension: The Spires Centre operates an Opt-out group pension arrangement and currently contributes 5% of annual salary for those who qualify. Personal contributions are currently 3%. 

Other benefits: The Spires Centre will provide life and income protection insurance for those who qualify for our group plans.

Safeguarding: The postholder will adhere to The Spires Centre’s safeguarding policy for vulnerable adults. This post is also subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

You will have worked with people experiencing various aspects of severe and multiple disadvantage: homelessness, substance use, mental health issues, insecure immigration status, prostitution, offending history and children taken into care.

About You

You will have experience supporting women and children affected by violence against women and girls (VAWG), including undertaking risk assessment, safety planning and managing high‑risk cases. You will be confident working with people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage and skilled in effective multi‑agency partnership working. You will bring a strong understanding of domestic abuse, including the practical, emotional and financial impacts, alongside knowledge of housing, welfare, safeguarding for adults and children, and relevant policy. You will be calm under pressure, with strong crisis management, problem‑solving and time‑management skills, and able to manage and monitor a small service user welfare budget responsibly.

Alana House is PACT’s flagship community project that uses a holistic approach to support and empower women. As the Women’s Centre Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of Key Workers to achieve the positive engagement of service users which leads to positive outcomes.  Your responsibilities will include:

· manage a team of Key Workers: monitoring performance and progress to ensure KPIs and goals are met

· contribute to identifying, training and supporting service user representatives and peer mentors

· act as the first point of contact for women referred to our service and conduct structured assessments to understand needs

· regularly meet with women to provide dedicated emotional and practical support

As the Key Worker Team Leader, you’ll bring highly demonstrable people management skills to encourage, motivate, support and develop a team and monitor and manage performance, along with an in-depth knowledge of issues facing justice involved women and those at risk of entering the justice system.

KSAAS (formerly East Kent Rape Crisis Centre) has provided sexual violence services in East Kent since 1981. We offer ongoing practical support and therapeutic services for survivors who have experienced any form of sexual violence, at any time in their lives, across Kent & Medway.

KSAAS holds UKAS accreditation through The Survivors Trust and is Professionally Approved by Rape Crisis England & Wales, demonstrating the consistent, high-quality services we provide.

KSAAS operates specialist Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) services, including joint ISVA and Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) provision for those experiencing sexual violence alongside domestic abuse.

We also offer trauma-focused therapeutic counselling for children, adolescents and adults, accessible through hubs across Kent & Medway.

Core functions

• Work as a committed member of the Kent Sexual Assault & Abuse Service (KSAAS) team.
• Support KSAAS’s aims, values and working principles, and work in line with KSAAS policies and procedures.

Specific duties

• Provide support to children and young people, and their families, through a range of channels as appropriate, including face-to-face, video, text and telephone.
• Travel to schools and community venues to provide support as required by your caseload.
• Contact young people or the parents/carers of allocated child service users in a timely and professional manner.
• Work with children and young people who are survivors of sexual abuse to promote their emotional and physical wellbeing.

Due to the nature of work at KSAAS, tasks and responsibilities can be unpredictable and varied. About the Role 

We are looking for a Duty and Triage IDVA to join our team. The successful candidate will act as a first point of contact for incoming referrals to Tower Hamlets SASS. As the Duty IDVA you will triage referrals into the Tower Hamlets SASS team, responding to professionals and members of the public. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with external agencies. In addition, you will risk and needs assess and safety plan with survivors of domestic abuse. 

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals affected by domestic and/or sexual violence, with the ability to assess and manage risk and follow effective case management processes for a diverse and vulnerable client group.

You will have a good understanding of housing, welfare, and policy related to domestic and sexual violence, alongside strong administrative and time‑management skills, including confident use of Excel.

You’ll lead the delivery of our health information from website content and monthly education webinars to social media copy. This is a full time, permanent role at a salary of circa £33,000 per annum. Location: Hybrid - Remote and London Office (with occasional UK travel for meetings and events).
