Job description

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Principal Business Analyst to help enable successful change by guiding stakeholders on our business initiatives throughout the organisation.

The Role: 
•    This is a key role in the Digital enablement team that is responsible for supporting the organisation with complex multi-stakeholder programmes within business processes.
•    Facilitate workshops, interviews and discussions to capture business needs and define problem statements.
•    Develop business cases, process maps (As-Is/To-Be), requirements documentation and solution options analysis.
•    Define and manage risks, issues and interdependencies within and between projects.
•    Mentor and coach junior business analysts to build capability and technical requirements.
•    Collaborate with the data engineer and architects to ensure data flows, definitions and models support business requirements.
•    Support with complex multi-stakeholder programmes involving business process redesign, system change and data migration.
•    Act as a trusted adviser to project managers, product owners and business leads. 
•    This role includes a mix of working from home and at our main office in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Visits to Grantham would be required no more than once a month on average.

The Candidate: 
•    You have an enthusiasm for the environment and share our core values-Grow Together, Explore, Focus and Make it Count.
•    You’ll have experience as a senior or principal business analyst working on complex functional change initiatives.
•    You’ll have knowledge of service design principles and user journey mapping.
•    You’ll have strong communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders across al levels of the organisation, including senior leadership.
•    You’ll have strong knowledge on project lifecycles from initiation to BAU handover.
•    You’ll have experience translating strategic goals into clear business and technical requirements with the ability to communicate these with a range of audiences.
•    You’ll have knowledge of data governance principles, data dictionaries and master data concepts.
•    You’ll be proficient with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Miro, Excel, Power BI (for data exploration) and other BA documentation tools.
•    You’ll have strong negotiation and collaboration skills with the ability to secure commitment from individuals.
•    You’ll have experience supporting data migration, including source-to-target data mapping, data quality assessment and supporting testing/validation activities.
