The Senior Support Worker is the lead practitioner within their designated intensive support  domestic abuse refuge, providing day-to-day operational oversight and support to staff, volunteers and bank staff. 

Working closely with the Refuge Manager and Deputy Refuge Manager, the postholder ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed support to women and children fleeing domestic abuse. The role acts as the main point of continuity within the refuge, supporting staff induction, maintaining standards of practice, and contributing to a safe, stable and supportive environment.

About the role:

This role is home working based with travel in the West Midlands area of England. As a Homicide Service Children and Young Person caseworker you will be:

• Delivering a specialist service to children and young people (CYP) bereaved by homicide, and for those CYP who have witnessed a homicide
• Working collaboratively and jointly within the Homicide Service and other relevant organisations that can help to progress identified needs and ensure that young people are central to all processes that involve them.
• Acting as the designated caseworker and manage a caseload
• Implementing the CYP Homicide Service Delivery Model
• Working closely and supporting colleagues to provide a trauma informed service to children and young people.

You will be responsible for providing a high-quality, front-line service to bereaved young people following murder or manslaughter. Working with colleagues in the National Homicide Service, as well as partner agencies including education, police, courts, social services and many other statutory and third sector organisations.

You will need to be able to travel to face to face sessions within, and occasionally outside of region, and therefore a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. We have an exciting opportunity for experienced and skilled caseworkers to join the staff of a unique social enterprise. The core function of this role is to provide comprehensive casework, advice and advocacy which assists and supports clients throughout the NHS continuing healthcare assessment, appeal and care planning process. MAIN DUTIES:

1. To provide an independent and comprehensive casework, advisory and advocacy service to private and NHS-referred clients (typically health and social care service users or their representatives) in England and Wales throughout the entire NHS Continuing Healthcare assessment, appeal and care planning process from initial assessment stage through to complaints to the Ombudsman.
2. To provide specialist information and advice to our clients tailored to their specific situation and needs regarding the interpretation of a primary health need from a thorough understanding of relevant criteria, assessment frameworks and legal tests which are based upon case-law. 
3. Provide advocacy and active case support remotely and in person to clients in England and Wales, and their representatives throughout the appeal and complaint processes, and occassionally assessments. This will include periodic travel to assessments and appeal meetings across England and Wales (including overnight stays where necessary), as well as attending virtual meetings via videoconference.Please note: most meetings are now completed virtually via videoconference, however a small number of in-person meetings are still taking place. Applicants will need to be comfortable working from home for long periods as well as with periodic long-distance travel.
4. To keep informed of issues, policies, guidance and legislation affecting clients ensuring that the information provided is relevant, current, complete and accurate.
5. To analytically examine all relevant health and social care records and assessments, and to prepare detailed advisory letters and appeal statements based upon a sound understanding of the facts, and referencing evidence compiled from such records.
6. To assist clients in the preparation of submissions which will be presented on their behalf to relevant Integrated Care Boards and NHS England review and/or appeal panels.
7. To respond to new referrals by making prompt initial contact with the client within the timescales specified by company policies. To keep clients informed of progress at regular intervals.
8. Work closely and efficiently with health professionals from relevant Continuing Healthcare (CHC) teams with the aim of resolving client issues at the earliest possible opportunity so as to provide an efficient and cost-effective service, and to minimise stress for the client.
9. To develop and maintain working relationships with health and social care colleagues within the field of Continuing Healthcare in order to influence best practice.
10. To work with partner organisations and stakeholders to share knowledge, make appropriate referrals, maintain consistency and draw upon each other’s expertise, always striving to improve the quality of both services and provide a better customer experience.
11. To keep relevant and sufficiently detailed case records at each stage and as the case progresses; ensuring that all client information is kept up to date in line with Beacon’s systems and procedures, including data protection (GDPR) policies.  This applies to case files, database entries, authority forms, client correspondence, use of the project management system, filing and archiving.
12. To minimise business costs and maximise income for the company by meeting chargeable time targets, working efficiently, charging clients appropriately and in a timely manner.
13. To uphold the principles of paralegal casework as specified by the Institute of Paralegals, providing a good standard of client care by working with skill and competence thereby ensuring clients are able to place their trust in you.
14. To uphold organisational values, promoting Beacon’s social goals through each area of your work.
15. To manage your own caseload and work independently within the boundaries of Beacon policies and procedures.
16. To undergo a minimum of 12 hours of professional development each year.  To foster an atmosphere of continuous learning and development.

About the role:

Becoming a Homicide Caseworker is a unique opportunity to support families and individuals bereaved by and, eyewitness to murder and manslaughter. The National Homicide Service is a fast paced, specialist team funded directly by the Ministry of Justice to provide exceptional trauma informed practical and emotional support every day.

As a Family Caseworker you will:

• Work closely with the Major Crime Police Units, Senior Investigators and Family Liaison Officers, providing a pivotal role to support clients through the Criminal Justice System.

The region’s leading charity in tackling violence against women and girls, BSWA offers a helpline, webchat, drop in and and community support as well as emergency accommodation in six refuges across the area.  

Projects supports women in the criminal justice system, in healthcare settings, and throughout the community, offering support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Alongside this, we also have staff offering training and consultancy to businesses and health and social care professionals alike, raising awareness on gender based violence issues.  

We seek like-minded women to join our enthusiastic team of workers, all of us passionate about the vital and valuable work we do to support women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, and tackling the wider issues of violence against women and girls. 

·To work as part of a team to provide emotional and practical support to women and children affected by violence and abuse through our Early Intervention hub and helpline service

Key Responsibilities-

• To develop and deliver family support and play sessions to children, young people and their mothers in refuge and the community. To lead on domestic violence awareness raising sessions with children/young people and professionals.
  

*BSWA provides safe secure accommodation to some of the most vulnerable women and children therefore in order to ensure we provide maximum support and safety it is essential that our service is available to them 24/7. We do this through operating an on-site rota that covers weekends, evenings and bank holidays as well as a 24 hour call out system.

Experience: 

- Working within a children and family setting with women and children affected by domestic violence

Experience:

• To keep up to date with current legislative changes for dissemination within staff team, and for use when working with women and children around their rights.

Can you help us keep changing lives and breaking the cycle of reoffending for good? As Project Support Worker you will be working closely with our Proejct Manager to engage and support mentors and mentees in HMP Brinsford, Birmingham and the West Midlands. You will have previous Criminal Justice experience, will be a driver with access to a car and will use your experience to develope and encourage a positive and meaningful mentoring relationship for both the mentee and mentor. Your ultimate aim is to understand the key challenges facing each mentee and how these impact on each individuals ability in desisting from crime. 

You will be a proven self starter who is used to working in a challenging environment with hard to engage and disaffected people. You will be able to work independently and have the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Training and Support Worker to deliver our Propel programme across Yorkshire, building partnerships and championing neuroinclusion. 

As the Training and Support Worker, you'll engage with schools, colleges, community settings and employers, delivering training, supporting implementation, and empowering neurodivergent young people into sustainable employment. You'll play a key role in developing the programme through partner insight and keeping up with best practice in workplace neuroinclusion. 

You will be required to travel regularly to deliver face-to-face training within schools, colleges, community settings and workplaces across Yorkshire. 

What We're Looking For 

• A passionate advocate for neurodivergent young people with experience in SEND, employability, or community engagement 

• Strong facilitator who can deliver engaging, impactful training to diverse audiences 

• Excellent communicator who builds genuine relationships across education, community and employer sectors 

• Self-motivated with a 'make it happen' attitude and ability to work independently 

• Team player who understands the importance of collaboration 

• Driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)
