We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

We are seeking individuals who are outgoing, with a confident personality. You will enjoy engaging with other students and be able to advise us on the experiences of students with regards to gaming and gambling.We’d love to hear from students with an interest in mental health, psychology, content development, and gaming. 

We are looking for trustees who will offer challenges, experience, and expert knowledge to help us think differently. We are looking for individuals who will take an active role in the governance of the Charity and support our expansion objectives - to remain financially stable whilst actively growing our volunteer network, our geographical coverage and our paid services to increase the number of families and young people we can support each year.

Responsibilities: Facilitators are responsible for designing creative and interactive workshops for our young people, and delivering these workshops with our young people. We run some of our workshops online and other workshops are held in London. All workshops are held during the school holidays, in the evening and on weekends.

The workshop facilitator role is flexible and as part of your role, you may be involved in:

• Delivering and leading short workshops or courses, on behalf of GT Scholars (Online or offline)

• Designing engaging, interactive and educational workshops and short courses for young people and ensuring that the content is targeted to suit different abilities and capabilities

Rate of pay: This is a self-employed role. You must be aged 18 or above. Facilitator sessions range from 2 to 6 hours. The rate of pay will vary based on the budget of the funder.

Wekume

Wekume is a comprehensive mobile app designed to provide university students in Uganda with seamless access to reproductive health services, including counseling, testing, products, and health education, while also offering personal development resources like business incubation and career-building opportunities.

Challenges we address

• Limited Access to Reproductive Health Services: Many university students in Uganda face barriers such as stigma, limited health resources, and lack of awareness, which prevent them from accessing essential services like family planning, STI testing, and HIV prevention.

• Stigma and Misinformation about Sexual Health: In my Ugandan community, discussions about sexual and reproductive health are often taboo, leading to misinformation and fear.

• Youth Unemployment and Lack of Opportunities: Beyond facing rigid access to reproductive health, there's a lot of unemployment among student

• Inclusivity for Vulnerable and Minority Groups: These marginalised groups include refugees and students with disabilities.

How we address them

• Convenient Access to Reproductive Health Services: Wekume provides a centralized mobile platform that enables students to easily obtain sexual and reproductive health information without the need to visit healthcare facilities in person. This includes:
  SafeChat: Anonymous virtual counseling services aimed at reducing stigma and promoting open discussions about reproductive health issues.
  QuickTest: A feature that allows students to schedule HIV testing and receive their results quickly.
  ARV Corner: Offers information and support regarding anti-retroviral treatment for students living with HIV.
  Circumcision: This initiative seeks to promote better health outcomes among students in the battle against HIV and enhance efforts against cervical cancer.

• Support for Business Development and Entrepreneurship:
  Wekume aims to establish an incubator model that leverages reproductive health to provide resources for students to develop business ideas, pilot projects, and create sustainable enterprises. This includes mentorship, workshops, and fundraising tools that empower students to turn their concepts into reality.

• Exchange Programs and Internship Opportunities:

Events Manager

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

The Events Manager will play a central role in designing, organizing, and delivering impactful in-person and virtual events that align with WEKUME’s mission. These events include university engagements, outreach activities, networking forums, and capacity-building sessions. The Events Manager will coordinate logistics, lead cross-functional collaboration, and ensure smooth execution of all event activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate between the Events Team and other stakeholders within Wekume to ensure the success of Wekume events.
• Schedule and lead Event planning meetings before every event to ensure clear purpose, messaging, and goals are established.
• Schedule and lead Event debriefs, to evaluate the results of each event against the stated plans determined during the planning meeting.
• Document and evaluate each event, collecting feedback and reporting key outcomes to inform future planning.
• Supervise on-site event staff and volunteers, ensuring seamless delivery and attendee experience.
• Lead the Events team, exemplifying Wekume values, to ensure fulfillment of the following responsibilities of the Events Team: Plan and execute Wekume events, including campus activations, partner forums, outreach programs, and stakeholder dialogues.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; confident working with diverse stakeholders including students, faculty, civil society, and government officials. Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; familiarity with event management tools and social media promotion. Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.

If successful, you will be joining a growing team of diverse, but likeminded individuals, collaborating to increase the reach of the Charity and improve support provisions available to young people. All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers, but that doesn't stop us keeping in touch and maintaining a strong positive culture amongst our whole team. 

About the role

Our Peer Mentors are at the forefront of our Youth Services delivery, tackling head on the issues that young people are facing everyday. As a Peer Mentor, you will engage with young people who reach out to Youth4Youth for support, taking time to coach and guide them through the difficulties that they are facing. This exciting opportunity, targeted at individuals who are between the ages of 16 and 25, provides young people with the space to directly impact and transform the lives of young people, significantly improving their overall wellbeing.

Ideal candidates are those who are able to commit to regular volunteering activity of at least 2 hours per week (on average) and who are able to comfortably communicate via written e-mail and other remote chat functionalities.

Responsibilities:

Your core responsibilities as a Peer Mentor at Youth4Youth include:

• Building strong, professional relationships with young people seeking mentoring support.
• Demonstrating commitment to the charity by regular volunteer engagement to maintain ongoing communication with young people (which includes responding to young people within an agreed and reasonable time frame).
• Providing light support, advice and guidance to young people in relation to the troubles that they are facing, in line with the resources provided to you by the charity.
• Maintaining professional boundaries with young people and not seeking to offer support beyond your capability that may put a young person at risk.
• Maintaining regular contact with your Youth4Youth supervisor, with the expectation that you will meet at least once per month for a supervision session that involves reflective practice and a focus on your development as a mentor.
• Providing support as part of our Peer Mentor network to colleagues across the Charity who are also directly supporting young people.
• Maintaining compliance with all policies. Most importantly this means maintaining the right level of confidentiality around your conversations with young people and recognising your safeguarding responsibilities in raising concerns as they arise to keep young people safe.

Peer Mentors are also actively encouraged to get involved in fundraising, outreach and social media activities where they feel comfortable and able to.

Skills 

• Strong written communication skills, such as being able to effectively compose a written e-mail in response to a young person.
• Ability to build strong, professional relationships and maintain trust between yourself and a young person, such as through active listening and adapting to the individual needs of different young people.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy to others.
• Ability to work in a challenging environment and recognise when you may need support yourself.
• Proficient in the use of IT tools, such as Microsoft Outlook.

This investment in you not only equips you with the understanding of what it takes to be a successful peer mentor, and the skills that you will need, but also is an investment in you. This training will provide you with core soft skills that are transferrable to many opportunities, whether that's in everyday life for you, your education setting or your place of work. All Mentors graduating from the Youth Services Academy will be provided with an electronic certificate to demonstrate your successful completion of the program, which can be shared with potential employers.

Through grassroots initiatives, advocacy, and partnerships, the Obuyisibwomu Initiative aims to uplift marginalized groups—particularly women, youth, and children—while fostering long-term, sustainable change.

Obuyisi bw’omu Initiative addresses critical challenges faced by underserved communities in Uganda. These include limited access to mental health support, poor water sanitation and hygiene practices, barriers to quality education, and the escalating effects of climate change.

As a Volunteer your role will include:

• Contacting services users to conduct a needs assessment, identifying service user needs and services to be delivered
• Deliver the appropriate services consisting of emotional and practical support
• Signpost to other organisations where needed, and complete onward referrals where consent has been obtained from the victim. 
• Advocate for service users with other organisations where appropriate e.g. with the police, housing associations etc.

What do we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Service Delivery Volunteer, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or over.
• Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week, for at least 12 months.
• Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes five virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.
• Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.
• Be able to provide two satisfactory references.

Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

We are a national service with home-based call takers county wide and a call centre in Old Hatfield Hertfordshire.

Once trained volunteers sign up for a weekly 4-hour shift comprising 3 hours ‘online’ followed by a debrief session with your supervisor which can last around half to one hour.

We recruit volunteers with a range of backgrounds and experiences though we ask that volunteers have experience of parenting or working with children and young people, are good listeners and have a willingness to learn. Being remote it will be very important that you have a PC/laptop, plug in headset with microphone, good Wi-Fi and a private place to work from home. You need to be a UK resident.

We're passionate about helping people to reach their full potential, so we'll offer you full training suitable for the role, supervision from a named member of staff, including help setting personal development goals, and opportunities to increase skills and input into practice via regular Practice Development Groups.

Our training programme is excellent and will give you the opportunity to develop the skills needed to offer empathic support and guidance to callers whatever their circumstances; all shifts are overseen by a regular shift supervisor who provides ongoing remote support.

We ask our volunteers to make a commitment of 1 year (with time off for holidays), obviously we understand that circumstances sometimes make that an impossibility but can be helpful to know at the outset that is the general expectation.

We have remote call taker training sessions that run over five sessions and is done remotely connecting you via a Microsoft Teams link. Our next training is starting in September 2025.

10am to 2pm

You would need to be able to attend all five sessions and be available on four occasions to listen into calls, this can be organised remotely. If you are unable to attend the training however are interested, please do apply as we run training throughout the year.

We are Buttons & Bubbles CIC. We work to increase inclusion and representation across society for disabled families.We have several different services including inclusive characters, sensory workshops, resources, events, advocacy and more.

What are we looking for?

Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity that you can do in your own time and without having to leave the comfort of the sofa? Do you have a good imagination? Are you interested in graphic design? Or have an artistic flair?

We’ve created ‘Bubble World’ which is home to our characters. We have had some graphics made for ‘Bubble World’ but we would love more! We can then use them and others such as little Santa Hats, Pumpkins and Easter Eggs to keep creating our resources and activity packs.

What do we expect?

• Be willing to undertake our training programme which will be done virtually and at a time to suit you.

• Have an Enhanced DBS check (preferably be on the update system)

• Sign our volunteer contract. (If you disagree with anything in it please do discuss it with us and we will be happy to have a conversation and make small changes if appropriate).

• A positive attitude to disability and illness. We are happy to answer questions on this.

Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative

Through grassroots initiatives, advocacy, and partnerships, the Obuyisibwomu Initiative aims to uplift marginalized groups—particularly women, youth, and children—while fostering long-term, sustainable change.

Obuyisi bw’omu Initiative addresses critical challenges faced by underserved communities in Uganda. These include limited access to mental health support, poor water sanitation and hygiene practices, barriers to quality education, and the escalating effects of climate change.

Mental Health: Stigma, lack of awareness, and limited access to mental health services leave many—especially youth—without the support they need for emotional well-being.

Water, Sanitation & Health (WASH): Inadequate clean water sources and poor sanitation infrastructure contribute to preventable diseases and poor health outcomes in rural communities.

Quality Education: Many children face barriers such as lack of resources, insufficient learning environments, and limited access to inclusive education opportunities, hindering their personal and community development.

Climate Change & Environmental Degradation: Communities experience direct impacts of climate change, including environmental degradation and food insecurity, but often lack the tools or knowledge to mitigate these effects.

Through our programs, we aim to empower communities, raise awareness, and drive sustainable solutions to these interconnected social and environmental issues.

Obuyisi bw’omu Initiative provides community-driven, practical solutions that empower individuals and promote sustainable development in Uganda.

Mental Health Awareness: We create safe spaces for dialogue, organize awareness campaigns, and engage youth in mental health education to reduce stigma and promote emotional well-being.

Water, Sanitation & Health (WASH): We work with communities to improve access to clean water, promote proper sanitation practices, and conduct health education to prevent disease and improve public health outcomes.

Quality Education: We support learners by providing educational resources, mentorship, and advocacy for inclusive, quality education—ensuring that children and youth in rural areas have better opportunities for growth.

Climate Action: We engage communities in environmental conservation activities such as tree planting, climate education, and sustainable practices that build resilience to climate change.

By combining grassroots engagement with volunteer expertise, we foster community ownership, empower young people, and promote lasting positive change.

Public Relations Officer

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

Media & Press Relations Build relationships with international media outlets to secure coverage of the organization’s work and campaigns. Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, and statements.

Reputation & Brand Management Ensure consistent, positive representation of the organization across all communication channels.

Storytelling & Impact Communication Develop compelling human-interest stories, success profiles, and campaign highlights for public sharing. Work with program teams to translate impact data into relatable, inspiring messages.

Content & Messaging Strategy Create and manage high-quality content (articles, speeches, newsletters) that aligns with the organization’s mission and tone. Assist in shaping talking points for spokespersons and leadership.

Event & Campaign Promotion Support promotion of events, fundraising campaigns, and community activities through strategic communication efforts. Coordinate media coverage and documentation

Barefoot and Free is a grassroots charity that supports families of neurodivergent children and children affected by trauma. We offer fully funded staycations and nature-based respite breaks for families and parent carers who are often at breaking point.

We’re a small, warm team not a large wealthy organisation and we care deeply about what we do. There are no airs and graces here, just real people doing our best to help families who need a break. Right now, we need someone with the skills and experience to help us bring in more funding to meet the growing need.

We’re looking for someone experienced and independent.
This is not a start out training opportunity. You’ll be working alongside an existing bid writer and need to come in ready to get stuck in with little to no guidance, it will test your resiliance and give you some amazing challenges. We’re looking for someone who knows how to write strong, successful bids and is comfortable finding opportunities, matching them to our projects, and managing the process from start to finish, we are giving you alot of exciting responsibility so if you wish to progress and move to the next step and meet some personal goals this is for you. 

What are we looking for?

• Solid experience writing successful funding bids, ideally in the charity or non-profit sector

• Someone self-motivated, confident, and able to work without close supervision

• A clear communicator who can work independently and enjoy networking.

• Someone who genuinely cares about the work we do and wants to help us keep doing it

• Meet funding dealines and reporting deadlines

• Help along with our team to maintain the funding database and outcomes
