RSBC Dorton College is an independent specialist college in the London Borough of Bromley. We offer day provision for 16 to 25-year-olds, and many of our students have additional needs.
We’re the only independent specialist further education provider for vision impaired young people in London and the Southeast. We offer a wide range of courses, and a bespoke curriculum supported by a diverse range of trained staff.
Dorton College are looking for volunteers to help assist in the general running of the college, getting hands on with lessons, movement and independance building exercises.
Role: Learning Support Volunteer
Commitment: Due to the nature of the role, RSBC are looking for a regular commitment. 1 half day per week for example.
Location: RSBC Dorton College of Further Education, Orpington Campus, The Walnuts, Orpington, BR6 0TE
Availability: We have shifts available between Monday and Friday, the centre is open from 8am – 4pm term time only.

What will I be doing?

RSBC are looking for volunteers here at get involved at our Dorton College helping our young people to learn, grow and develop with your support.
Dorton college’s specialist approach which blends mainstream and specialist education creates a unique environment for students to grow their independance.
You will be helping young people to navigate their educational environment: preparing resources, assisting with movement and making sure young people are engaging with
Alongside this, you can also have the opportunity to get one on one experience, helping students to take notes and engage with the lesson, and supporting and running small group activities.
Moveover, Dorton college prides itself on helping our students to grow their independence. Volunteers would also have the opportunity to get involved in sessions designed to help grow learners independant skills such as cooking sessions, local community visits and utilising public transport.
This is a fantastic role if you are looking to gain experience in education or health and social care, especially in the SEN sphere.
Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for volunteers who can contribute 1 half day per week, and as explained below, there are safeguarding checks to complete before you can start.
Key Tasks and Main Duties
Operational support tasks:

Who are you?
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in the sector before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow RSBC’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for RSBC. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of sight problems.

As part of your volunteering, you will have access to Sighted Guide training, a training session designed to help you understand the issues and complexities of sight problems and give you the ability to help others navigate the world.
RSBC also provides paid expenses for your volunteering experience, you can claim up to £10 per day.
RSBC can also provide references and impact reports from your volunteering if required.
You will be fully supported in your role by our team of expert and compassionate service delivery team.

We are holding our annual Food Collection event in-store at Tesco.

The food collected is given to the local food charity who supports people in the local community.
Shift times
Volunteer shifts are one-off on Thursday 27 November, Friday 28 November and Saturday 29 November 2025.
Shift times are 9am-midday, midday-3pm, 3pm-6pm and 6pm-9pm.

Would you like to make a lasting difference in your community? Are you a good listener with a heart for helping families facing real challenges? If so, the Volunteers Supporting Families – Family Mentor programme in Southend-on-Sea needs you.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting families with children who are at risk of neglect or harm, or families with existing social care involvement.
- Meeting regularly (once a week for approximately 1 hour) in the family home over a minimum six-month period.
- Offering consistent emotional and practical support: listening, guiding, helping parents build confidence and parenting skills, reducing isolation, navigating day-to-day challenges.

You don’t need formal experience working with families, just the right qualities and commitment:
- 18 years old or above, living in Southend-on-Sea or nearby.
- Able to commit to weekly visits for at least six months.
- Willing to complete necessary checks (DBS/criminal record), and provide references.
- Caring, patient, reliable: a good listener who can offer non-judgemental support, even when progress is slow.
- Someone with an interest in helping both children and parents. Personal life experience can be helpful.

We are looking for someone who shares our values to join us as a Music Education Trustee, maximising the impact of our music education strategy in helping children and young people from families on low income in Surrey to make music.
Specific Tasks
Identifying, developing and overseeing appropriate group teaching and ensemble projects in primary and secondary schools with high pupil premium ratios. Such projects will be funded or co-funded by CKT but delivered by other established music education providers

- Trustees, taking the lead on fundraising in developing applications for grants to fund CKT’s project work
- Acting as one of CKT’s Trustees and Directors attending and contributing to board meetings
- Performing such other tasks and activities for CKT as skills and time allow
Skills and experience required
In depth experience of music education at primary and/or secondary level
This will probably have been gained through practical experience either as a successful school head of music and/or in a county music service and/or in a music education charity or provider

Role Title: Founding Trustee (Volunteer) - EchoLab
Location: London (Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Southwark, Hybrid role)
Time Commitment: Approx. 4 - 6 hours per month
Start Date: Rolling intake from December 2025
About EchoLab:
EchoLab is a new youth-led charity launching in London to empower young people aged 13 to 26 years old through creativity, tech and mentorship. We're building safe, vibrant spaces where young people can explore coding, music, digital storytelling, and much more - while receiving guidance from mentors who reflect their lived experience.
We're now recruiting a founding board of trustees to help us register, set up, and launch EchoLab with integrity, vision, and impact.
What You'll Do As A Trustee
- Help shape EchoLab's mission, values, and strategic direction.
- Support charity registration and governance set up.
- Oversee safeguarding, finance, and risk management.
- Champion youth voice and inclusive leadership.
- Attend board meetings and contribute to working groups.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those with lived experience of exclusion or marginalisation. You don't need trustee experience just relevant experience to support EchoLab.
We're especially keen to hear from:
- Young adults (18+).
- Creatives, coders, educators, youth workers and community builders.
- People with skills in charity law, finance, safeguarding, or fundraising.
- First-time trustees, and community leaders.
