We run projects which encompass personal, social development and life skills. Our flagship mentoring scheme includes one-to-one and small group sessions. The focus is on the outcome, but also on the journey. In addition we collaborate with Caius House to deliver their after-school programme.

Main aim of the role: 

Playing a vital role within our expanding youth support team at Future Skills, you will work to support and empower our young people to re-engage and return to education and employment. You will be creating structured lesson plans to deliver high quality soft skills sessions. You will be proactive and get involved with the pupil’s daily activities, promoting teamwork and setting a good example. You will also build positive relationships with the young people, fellow professionals, parents and carers as this is key to this role.

In addition to that, you will work with the team here at Caius House to help deliver an after-school programme for young people, usually one evening per week. To this effect, you will work with both the FST team and the team on-site at Caius House.

The post holder will be responsible for: 

• Working with colleagues to develop a soft skills curriculum for our group and one to one sessions.

• Actively participating in the sessions we deliver including off-site trips and sporting activities.

• Undertaking one-to-one and small group mentoring with vulnerable and at-risk young people aged 8-16 years old.

• Working with the FST team delivering personal and social development workshops with excluded young people, encouraging them to engage and develop and challenging negative behaviours.

• Building relationships and regularly communicating with parents/carers and professionals.

• Building positive relationships with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, inspiring and motivating them, acting as a positive role model at all times.

• Bringing passion, ideas, creativity, energy and strategies to all projects.

• Demonstrating understanding of the issues faced by children and young people.

• Keeping accurate records of attendance and session evaluations using our online database system.

• Having an active role in our regular team meetings.

• Complying with the organisational requirements for health and safety, child protection, safeguarding and other policies and procedures.

 

The post holder should possess:
 

• Previous experience of working with vulnerable, at risk and disengaged children and young people

We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in the Yorkshire region tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities. 

In this role you will be: 

• Identifying, developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide. 

• Proactively promoting suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide.

Worcestershire Child Criminal Exploitation Practitioner

This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need it. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country. 

Climb is a Prevention and Early Intervention Service for 10-17 year olds who may vulnerable to criminal exploitation and/or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. We offer 1-1 outreach support and access to positive, diversionary activities within the local area.

This is an exciting role within an expanding service across West Mercia. We are currently looking for an Exploitation Practitioner  to join our dynamic, ambitious team. This role is for people with a passion in supporting vulnerable young people on a 1-1 basis, in raising their aspirations, building their confidence, working together with professionals to ensure the most appropriate, robust and holistic support is offered to meet each individual's needs. A key part of this role will be your ability to positively impact the lives of Children and Young people.

Although all contracts are home based, there will be a lot of travel across the Worcestershire area and access to our office in Worcester City Centre as and when needed.

What will I be doing?

The role of Community Youth Worker is, by nature, highly relational and is a position of great influence that enables you to nurture, inspire, connect and empower young people from all walks of life, so they can make the most of their lives. As such, it is a role which is demanding and carries great responsibility, but provides exciting opportunities to impact the lives of young people.

This is a varied role which carries with it a variety of different aspects and you are expected to manage your own workload and diary and priorities in liaison with your line manager and with the available time. Community Youth Work takes many forms and while the actual work is subject to change according to the current needs of young people or Matrix, it may include:

• Research of young people’s needs in the local community

Youth Café

The Youth Hideaway is our flagship project and is a fun open access youth café run by our team after school at our social enterprise café - The Hideaway.

As a Community Youth Worker some of your time will be spent assisting the Youth Café, Project Lead and Head of Youth Work in delivering this project and it may include:

• Helping to create a safe, fun and inspiring environment for the young people that attend
• Plan, prepare and deliver quality youth sessions
• Build healthy relationships with young people that attend the sessions, identifying and responding to the needs that may arise

Monthly Youth Hubs

Youth Hubs are fun open access youth clubs run by our youth workers in the community. These are run on a monthly basis on rotation in different areas within Guildford Borough. As a Community Youth Worker you will be responsible for planning, organising and running at least one HUB, which may include:

• Creating a safe, fun and inspiring environment for the young people that attend

• Planning, preparing and delivering quality youth club sessions

• Building healthy relationships with young people that attend the club sessions, identifying and responding to the needs that may arise

• Promoting the activities of the Youth Hub in the community

• Exemplify the charity's values and Christian ethos to the wider ‘Hubs’ team, leading them in prayer where appropriate.

• Promote the activities of the Youth Café in the community

GASP Motor Project

Matrix will often work in collaboration with partner organisations and following a successful run of pilot sessions we are pleased to confirm that from September 2022 we will be extending our work with GASP Motor Project.

Working in this setting is very similar to the mentoring work that we offer in schools and you may be expected to:

• Conduct one-to-one sessions to listen to, analyse and respond to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of young people
• Manage, monitor and evaluate caseloads as part of the one-to-one support sessions
• Develop and run a variety of contact points for the young people attending the project, including group sessions
• Build good working relationships with the GASP team

Schools Work

Our work in schools is varied and you may be expected to:

• Conduct one-to-one sessions to listen to, analyse and respond to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of young people
• Manage, monitor and evaluate caseloads within your allocated school as part of the one-to-one support sessions
• Develop and run a variety of contact points and projects for young people across the school, including group sessions and drop-ins and after school projects
• Alongside the Secondary Schools Project Lead, supervise and build a team of volunteers to work within the school
• Build good working relationships with school staff, CAMHS and other relevant local services

General

• Contribute to, and be involved in fundraising and other activities that benefit Matrix, including whole staff workshop days, fundraising activities.

• During school holidays and after school, be involved in projects organised and run by Matrix, including holiday and after-school clubs (e.g. our Youth Café - The Youth Hideaway) within your allocated hours and as agreed by your line manager

• Raise the positive profile of Matrix by building professional relationships in a multi-agency environment including through networking events in the relevant local area, such as meeting with the community safety wardens, local schools, churches, Police and PCSOs

• Represent Matrix by providing a positive role-model to young people

Level of Authority

As a Community Youth Worker, you will need to operate with a high degree of autonomy. You will be expected to administer your own time and workload in liaison with your line manager, keeping an ‘open’ diary for all activities. • A strong youth work background in a relevant field e.g.: youth work, teaching, social work

Young People Support Worker - West London (Ealing)

ROLE BACKGROUND:

Youth Enquiry Service (YES) is a charity that has supported young people in High Wycombe and the surrounding areas for over 40 years. We have an established reputation for offering accessible, friendly, and safe services for young people, which includes one-to-one counselling, sexual health information, and drop-in information, advice, and guidance.

This is an exciting time for YES, as we have recently been awarded funding to expand our services as an early-intervention mental health support hub for young people. This expansion will enable us to significantly increase capacity within our pre-existing services, as well as set up several new services including schools-based counselling, peer support groups for young people and for their parents/carers, and a young person’s advisory board who will help shape YES services.

As part of our planned service expansion, we are seeking to recruit Support Workers who will be the first point of contact for young people visiting our drop-in centre, and who can provide a range of information, advice, and guidance, to young people aged 13 to 25 years.

We are seeking Part time Community Support Workers to join our Weekend Club held every Saturday based at the Together Trust Newbridge Centre in Stockport. This is a youth club that works with young people aged 5 to 17 years old who have learning difficulties, Autism spectrum conditions, including behaviours perceived as challenging as well as mobility, communication, and other health, and social care needs.

The Weekend Club is designed to promote independent time away from parents and carers and to help these young people to gain confidence and complete fun activities in a safe environment. In the near future we will be extending this to a Sunday, so we will be able to support more young people.

Location – Newbridge Centre, Cromer Street, off New Bridge Lane,Stockport SK1 which is a Together Trust service.

Hours – 6.5 hours each week on a Saturday – 9.45am to 4.15pm, with some Sunday working.

Salary - £5,076.38 annual salary (Based on a rate of pay of £12.01ph plus a 25% weekend supplement of £3.00ph over 6.5 hours).

Overview of Role:

As a Support Worker, you will be working with young people aged 12-25 years old who have experience of self-harm. Within that age group, you will predominantly be working with young people under 18. The post would suit an experienced support worker, preferably with knowledge of the issues experienced by young people who are trans / non-binary.

You will play a key role in providing them with support and advocacy both on a one to-one basis and within a group setting; working with them to develop their emotional skills which will allow them to cope more effectively with the difficulties in their lives. The nature of the work means role that the successful candidate must focus on inclusivity for the young people.

The successful candidate will have considerable experience in working with young people aged 12-25 and will enjoy the challenge of working with adolescents in difficult circumstances. You will need to be able to work within a non-discriminatory framework, ensuring the services are provided in a qualitative, responsive, and accessible manner.

The Amber Project exists to support any young person (aged 14-25) in Cardiff and the surrounding areas who has experience of self-harm. With our Constellation element working with young people aged 12-25. Since The Amber project was established in 2002 individual support and creative
workshops have been key elements of our work with young people.

Salary: £13,406 per annum (£26,812.00 per annum FTE).

Hours:  20 hours per week. Working pattern to be agreed with the line manager but will include late afternoons and early evenings to facilitate meeting with young people outside of school hours and attending workshops. Occasional weekends.

Pension: Church Army is an auto enrolment pension employer. You will be assessed under pension auto enrolment criteria.

Annual Leave: 132 hours, inclusive of bank holidays (264 hours FTE).
