We currently have space on our Board for up to eight new Trustees who want to work with us to help improve university communities so that every student gets the mental health support they need to reach their goals.
At Student Minds, we’re working to improve university communities so that no student is held back by their mental health. So it should come as no surprise that we are keen to reflect the communities we serve, maintain a diverse board and ensure student voices are represented. This is key to our mission and our continued impact.
You may be thinking that you don't have the experience because you haven't been a trustee before, or because charity governance isn't your field. Think again!

Key responsibilities
Student Minds Trustees are expected to commit to the following:
-
Preparation and attendance at four board meetings a year. Board meetings are held online and take place on weekdays from 5 - 7.30 pm.

Preparation and attendance at two board away days each year, usually from 12.30 - 5 pm. Board away days are in person and usually take place in Leeds. Travel expenses can be claimed.

Ad-hoc meetings and conversations with the senior management team as required. This usually constitutes approximately a further five working days a year.
If appointed, you will receive the training and onboarding you need to be a confident, contributing member of the board. We are also able to provide you with a board buddy to support you in your first few months.

BECOME A BLUE SMILE TRUSTEE
As a trustee you will be able to use your passion for children’s mental health; your experience and knowledge to guide our strategy and vision for the future.
Blue Smile's mission is to transform the mental health and life chances of Cambridgeshire children through arts-based therapies, supporting over 200 children a week in the region providing one-to-one therapy and groupwork. Commitment

Organisation background
The Foundation is an unincorporated registered charity that is currently going through a period of transition. It has existed in different forms for more than three centuries. The Foundation was established to teach practical and academic skills to equip “poor boys for trades or university”. Until recently it fulfilled its educational charitable objective by providing land, buildings and grants to a school in Oval. Following the closure and sale of that school in 2023, the Trustees are entering an exciting new phase in the Foundation’s story. They are reviewing how to deliver the best educational outcomes for young people in the area of benefit, Greater London, and are looking to work with local schools, partners and stakeholders to achieve this.
Required skills and experience
Educational Trustee – an applicant should have an understanding of local educational needs -either in the area of benefit or within specific areas of Greater London. They should have experience of working with stakeholders involved in education and a willingness to liaise with those stakeholders, potential grantee schools and other partners. The Trustees want to provide support where it will be most effective and a background in educational funding would be an advantage as would a willingness to develop a collaborative relationship with new grantee schools.
General Trustee
A successful applicant will play an important role in overseeing our activities and in ensuring we continue to pursue our objectives effectively and responsibly. Ideally an applicant should have experience with grant making or other charitable organisations and with helping formulate important strategic decisions to provide long term educational benefit.
For both roles we welcome interest from individuals with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
Role requirements
Trustees are appointed for an initial term of four years. They are expected to attend trustee meetings which are currently held every two to three months, sometimes online and sometimes in person in London - most commonly online at 4pm.
Trustees are also expected to contribute to the occasional email request or discussion.
The role is unpaid and voluntary.

Apart of Me is seeking a finance professional (retired or employed) to join its engaged and friendly Board as Treasurer, with specific oversight of the charity’s financial management. While day-to-day financial administration is handled by staff, the Treasurer works closely with both the team and the Board to ensure sound financial governance. The role involves providing financial leadership, helping trustees understand the organisation’s finances, and ensuring compliance with financial and statutory obligations.
The ideal candidate will hold a qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Audit, with a strong understanding of financial management in either the voluntary or business sectors. Previous charity experience is not essential, though willingness to undertake training (typically one day) is required.
The Treasurer should be able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues and trustees, think strategically, and balance financial oversight with wider trustee responsibilities.
The Board meets once a month (virtually or in person) for approximately 90 minutes, with two strategy days held annually. The Treasurer will also meet with the CEO and Finance Manager monthly and be available for occasional ad hoc emails or advice. Trustees are usually appointed for a three-year term, with the possibility of extension.
Training in charity finance will be provided if required. The role requires a commitment to the charity’s values, aims, and objectives, and a strong desire to support children and young people who have experienced grief.

Trustee vacancy: UK Bangladesh Education Trust (UKBET)
Founded in 1993, the UK Bangladesh Education Trust [UKBET], a UK registered charity and international NGO registered in Bangladesh, is looking for one or two new dynamic trustees to join our board, supporting the charity’s mission to help end child labour in Bangladesh.
Our Doorstep Learning Programme engages and supports child domestic workers (95% girls) and their families. Trained and supported community teachers provide three individual or small group literacy, numeracy and life skills sessions for these working children as well as signposting for their families. A key aim is to support the children’s progression out of child labour to school or, for older children to vocational training. UKBET’s Family Futures microgrants address the root causes of child labour – family poverty. Parents can use these grants to start or continue small businesses to increase their family income, removing the need to send their children to work and enabling them to join school or, for older working children, vocational training.
Our work is funded through charitable donations, fundraising and grants.
The UK Board of Trustees set the direction for the charity and support the work of the Executive Director and his team who also benefit from an Advisory Group based in Sylhet, Bangladesh. We meet on line three or four times a year, and as needed, plus try to have an annual in person away day meeting. There are currently four experienced Trustees with a range of expertise across finance, income generation and education. We are seeking one or two new Trustees to join us, ideally leading in one or more of the following areas:

We’re looking for new Trustees for the Board of Spear Bournemouth Trust, which runs the Spear Programme in partnership with Resurgo Trust, equipping and empowering unemployed 16 – 24-year-olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.
Responsibilities
Governance and meeting attendance
- Attend Trustee meetings (approx. 6-9 times a year)
- Responsibility for the governance of the Trust, including meeting any legal and Charity Commission requirements
- Ensure the Trust complies with all legal duties including annual reporting, audits, insurance and data management
Local relationship building
- Build relationships with individuals in local churches to build and develop a network of supporters for the Spear Programme
- Act as a spokesperson for Spear Bournemouth, building the charity’s profile locally
Income generation
- Develop and manage relationships with local donors or companies (working with Spear coaches and other trustees)
- Steward relationships with funders, keeping them engaged in the work of Spear Bournemouth
- Input into a fundraising strategy (with significant input and support from the Resurgo team) to fundraise ~£120,000 per year to cover the costs of the Spear Programme
Working together
- Develop strong working relationships with fellow Trustees
- Support the Spear coaches in line with Resurgo’s coaching approach, ensuring the centre continues to thrive and deliver outstanding impact
Active participation in and support for church team and mission
- As the Spear programme is run in partnership with local churches, the Trustees will ideally have a personal presence in a Bournemouth-based church and actively work with and support the mission of Love Church, a key partner. As part of this you may be asked to speak at church/events
Person Specification:
- Professional or voluntary experience in one of the following: Partnership or business development; Fundraising
- An active Christian, passionate about supporting young people with barriers to education and employment into sustainable work
- Effective interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
- Good time management and organisational skills, highly self-motivated with good initiative
- Excellent communication skills and confidence building relationships with a diverse range of people
