Cambridge Nightline is a confidential and anonymous listening service run by students, for students. We have been providing peer-to-peer support to students at the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University for over 50 years. We offer support via telephone and instant messaging (IM), and open at night when other support services are often closed.
Cambridge Nightline has recently appointed a Board of Trustees, and is working towards becoming a registered charity. Our aim as Trustees is to provide oversight and guidance to the student Executive Committee, whilst supporting them as much as possible to continue to lead the direction of the service.

Role of Treasurer of the Board
The Treasurer of the Board of Trustees will take the lead at board level in assuming responsibility for the financial oversight of Cambridge Nightline. You will work alongside the Board of Trustees and student Executive Committee in reviewing the organisation’s financial performance to ensure its finances are managed responsibly, in accordance with the objects of the organisation and with legal requirements.
The Treasurer of the Board will work closely with the Student Treasurer to oversee the budget and financial administration, and to ensure the sustainability of the organisation’s funding and reserves. As Cambridge Nightline works towards becoming a registered charity, you will provide advice and guidance to the Board of Trustees to ensure financial compliance with charity law.

African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 34 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.
These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education.

All trustees are responsible for governing a charitable company and directing its management and operation. They must also ensure that the trust complies with all legal and statutory requirements.
About the role
The Fundraising Trustee provides strategic oversight of fundraising activities for African Adventures Foundation. The role ensures the charity develops sustainable income streams while maintaining high ethical and regulatory standards. Working with fellow trustees and staff, the Fundraising Trustee helps develop fundraising strategies, identify opportunities for income generation, and ensure fundraising activities comply with relevant regulations and best practice guidance.
As an ambassador, they also support external stakeholder and donor activities ensuring compliance to the standards required.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy

Lead the development and oversight of AAF’s fundraising strategy to support its mission and long-term sustainability.

Identify and develop diverse income streams including donations, grants, partnerships, and events.

Support the Board in setting realistic fundraising targets and monitoring progress against them.

We are looking for three new trustees, each bringing specific expertise:
- Fundraising and income generation - We are looking to diversify and strengthen our income base, with particular focus on grants, trusts and foundations and community fundraising. If you have professional fundraising experience and know how to build financial resilience in a values-led organisation, we want to hear from you.
- Marketing and communications - Our work is fundamentally about reaching people, and social media is central to how we do that. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of digital platforms, content strategy, and how to build and engage audiences - particularly young people.
- Finance - Sound financial governance is essential as we plan for the future. We are looking for someone with a professional finance background who can support the board in its financial oversight responsibilities and help us build long-term resilience.
Because we are a largely volunteer-led charity, our trustees tend to be more operationally involved than you might find at a larger organisation. This is a hands-on role, and one that offers a genuine opportunity to contribute your expertise to something that matters.

About the role
The Secretary supports the effective governance and administration of the African Adventures Foundation. The role ensures that the Board of Trustees operates efficiently, meetings are properly organised and recorded, and the charity complies with regulatory and administrative requirements. The Secretary works closely with the Global Chair, Treasurer, and other Trustees to ensure the charity follows best practice in governance and maintains accurate records.
As an ambassador, they also support external stakeholder and donor activities ensuring compliance to the standards required.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Administration
- Support the Global Chair in ensuring AAF is effectively governed and operates in line with its governing document.
- Ensure trustee meetings are properly administered, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, and taking accurate minutes.
- Ensure that trustee decisions and discussions are clearly recorded and stored appropriately.
- Maintain up-to-date records of trustees, governance documents, and key organisational information, including steward of the governance schedule for all territories.
Meeting Management
- Ensure that trustee meetings are properly administered and recorded.
- Circulate agendas, minutes, and supporting papers to trustees in a timely manner.
- Ensure other meetings, such as the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and key organisational events are properly administered.
- Ensure that minutes from meetings are approved and maintained as part of the charity’s official records.
Compliance and Record Keeping
- Ensure that records required by regulators are properly maintained, including those required by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
- Maintain accurate governance documentation, including trustee appointments, resignations, and declarations of interest.
- Ensure that Charity Commission and other relevant organisation records are maintained and kept up to date.
Regulatory Reporting
- Ensure required information is filed with regulators in accordance with statutory deadlines.
- Submit annual returns and other required filings to regulatory bodies in the correct format and within required timescales.
- Support the Board in ensuring compliance with relevant guidance from bodies such as the Charity Commission for England and Wales and the Fundraising Regulator.

St Basils is looking for a new Non-Exec Director / Trustee to join our Board as the Designated Safeguarding Board Member.
About Us
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to enable them to find and keep a home, grow their confidence, develop their skills, increase opportunities and ultimately prevent homelessness.
We help just over 4,000 young people each year across the West Midlands, with services in Birmingham, Coventry, Sandwell, Solihull, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. Our services range from providing supported accommodation to outreach, advice, support, employability and engagement services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, confidence and employment and move on. The aim is to help them successfully break the ‘cycle of homelessness’ so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future and never return to a state where they are at risk of homelessness again.
About our Board
We are a registered provider of social housing, a charity and a company limited by guarantee, meaning our Board members are both Directors and Trustees.
To navigate our challenging regulatory landscape, we need to be tightly governed. At the heart of this is a Board with the right knowledge, values, skills and diversity, all whilst working towards our vision that homelessness should not be part of growing up.
As a member of St Basils’ Board, you will be a guardian of St Basils’ charitable purpose. You will be responsible for holding the Senior Leadership Team to account through constructive challenge and support, and for ensuring St Basils’ strategic priorities are met.
You will form part of St Basils’ governance framework, providing oversight of key business areas, such as business planning, safeguarding, risk, finance, health and safety, EDI and business development.

About the Role
We are looking for a voluntary Director / Trustee with a professional background in safeguarding to join our Board as the Designated Safeguarding Board Member. Our new Board member will need to have a strong understanding of safeguarding, ideally with experience in supporting vulnerable young people.
As the Designated Safeguarding Board Member, you will:
- Work with St Basils’ Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to regularly review safeguarding reports, trends and serious incidents
- Act as a safeguarding champion at Board level, supporting other Directors / Trustees to develop their understanding and confidence in safeguarding
- Provide oversight of allegations or safeguarding concerns relating to staff, volunteers or Board Members
- Attend regular meetings and engage with services, staff and young people to maintain visibility of safeguarding in practice
- Support the Chair, CEO and DSL in ensuring appropriate governance oversight of serious safeguarding incidents, including reputational considerations
- Ensure the Board receives appropriate assurance on safeguarding risks and how they are managed
Our new Director / Trustee will sit on our Service Delivery & Development Committee which oversees both the housing elements of our services as well as the support / progression we provide to our young people. This committee meets virtually, one a quarter.
Although the role is voluntary, reasonable expenses will be paid for costs incurred in undertaking the role.
About You
You will be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or have significant experience in a senior safeguarding role.
You will demonstrate sound judgement and be able to challenge confidently and constructively, although you do not need to have Board experience.
You will work within the principles of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and understand the needs of the diverse young people we serve.
You will put the needs of young people first, be passionate about ending youth homelessness and share our mission, vision and principles.
Time Commitment
You will need to be able to attend the majority of Board and Committee meetings, one of each is held each quarter (8 meetings total per year). Each meeting will last around 2 hours and will normally be held late afternoon/early evening (usually 4pm – 6pm). Board meetings are held in person at St Basils’ Head Office in Birmingham, and Committee meetings are held virtually via Microsoft Teams. The dates for meetings are set by calendar year, towards the end of the previous year.
Meeting papers will be shared via an online portal one week in advance of the meeting to allow for sufficient preparation time.
A Board away day is held each year, usually October, and every other year this includes an overnight stay. This will be fully paid for by St Basils.
We encourage Board members to visit our accommodation services to deepen understanding of our work and support effective governance and decision-making. We would like all Board members to make 2 visits a year if possible.
All travel expenses incurred in attending Board meetings / conducting site visits will be reimbursed by St Basils.

About the Organisation
I am Somebody’s Child Soldier (IAMSCS) is dedicated to empowering and advocating for the rights of rescued child soldiers and child victims of war suffering from post war trauma and financial instability and displacement from education system.
Our focus is on providing access to mental health, rehabilitation programs, sustainable livelihood initiatives, as well as education opportunities to children, young people and people with disabilities within Northern Uganda.
About Us:
I am Somebody’s Child Soldier (IamSCS) works to empower war-affected individuals and populations through improved wellbeing and strengthened community inclusion. It does this through its current strategic goal of working with local communities in northern Uganda to enhance the lives of formerly abducted children and the communities they live in. With the specific objectives of improving the mental health of up to 1000 war-affected individuals, facilitating the creation of an environment that is conducive to the sustainable (re)integration of war-affected individuals, and supporting local government in northern Uganda to provide a clear prioritisation in addressing the needs of war-affected individuals. As part of its programme activities, IamSCS works with Laroo ADRA school in Gulu, northern Uganda to support its work with war-affected children. Many of the children attending this school come from impoverished backgrounds and have encountered extreme hardship in their lives with some being hearing-impaired as a result of their exposure to the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Co-CEO to join our leadership team in a voluntary, part-time capacity. This role will work in partnership with the existing leadership and Board of Trustees to drive strategic growth, oversee project delivery, and strengthen organisational impact.
The Scope of leadership role is detailed below:
1)Project Support & Management:
Working with our Executive Assistant (EA) to ensure the successful delivery of our annual projects and making sure we are hitting the targets of each project. This could include:
• Ensuring the right number of partners/schools are onboarded.
• Ensuring we are meeting the predicted beneficiary numbers in the project application. • Ensuring we are meeting the predicted impact statistics.

Responsibilities of the Job position
- To attend online training sessions developing your own knowledge in neurodiversity and introduction to adult pedagogy (how adults learn).
- To edit, update and design content for our new Virtual Learning Environment (Google Classroom) for our Neurodiversity Youth Advocate programmes.
- To provide technical “on-call” support both for our staff and students for sessions in the Post-16 Reflective Practice & Advocacy Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme on MS Teams.
- To lead and document debriefs for sessions of the Post-16 Reflective Practice & Advocacy Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme.
- To develop and deliver a 30-minute Neurodiversity Awareness CPD Presentation for the biannual “Conference Day” training sessions which trains trustees and staff members.
Key responsibilities & objectives of the job:
· To work with the organisation on a remote flexi-time monthly basis to complete tasks (with assistance from our Projects and Mentoring Lead with task delegation and organising) which could include the following:
(i) Training: Attend remote training events on Neurodiversity and/or Adult Education Theory during May, January, & February
(ii) Google Classroom VLE Creation: Complete creation of material for the 2026-27 programme Term 2 & 3 component and 2027 Summer School using material from our old VLE (Moodle) in June, August, March and April.
(iii) Technical “On-Call” Support: Provide technical support for students and staff for sessions in the Post-16 Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme in September, October, November, January and February.
(iv) Debrief chairing: Chair and lead debriefs for some of the sessions of the post-16 Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Programme.
(v) Conference Day Presentation Development: In March Develop a 30-minute training presentation on a specific topic in neurodiversity that will be delivered to Trustees, Staff and trainee Neurodiversity Youth Advocates in the charity.
(vi) Conference Day Session Delivery: In April, deliver the presentation developed in March.
