We are looking for an experienced  experienced coordinator, to support the development of StreetDoctors external communications, advocacy and policy development. 

We are an award-winning national charity which trains over 9,000 young people affected by street violence each year in emergency first-aid through a team of 300 healthcare volunteers and youth workers. We empower young people with the skills to become part of the solution to violence by developing the skills and confidence to save lives and increasing their understanding of the medical and psychological consequences of violence.

The key areas of focus include:

• To develop and maintain creative communication routes with partners, stakeholders and policy makers, to increase StreetDoctors value and level of engagement within the sector.

• To support the positioning of the StreetDoctors offer and engagement in policy making with government departments, devolved countries and regional decision makers (including PCC’s, Regional Mayors).

• To create, develop and maintain partnerships with a range of organisations to support the development of StreetDoctors research, policy and strategic direction.

We are recruiting a manager to lead Manchester Young Lives’ adventure play and youth work in Moss Side, Ardwick, Blackley, Moston and Harpurhey. We provide open access and targeted play and youth work activities. Our after-school adventure play provision is Ofsted registered and provides activities for 6-13 year olds. Our youth provision engages with young people aged 11+ after school and during the evenings, in centres and on the streets.

Our work enables often disadvantaged children and young people the opportunity to learn, develop and connect with their communities, build safe and supportive relationships with committed workers, and let off steam on our adventure playgrounds.

You must have relevant skills and experience in working with children and young people, sometimes in challenges situations, and the ability to manage a team of staff and volunteers.

Job Summary 

Please note this is a part time temporary role, working between 21-28 hours per week on a one year contract. The pro rata salary for hours worked is between £14,145 to £21,527 per year. 

The role will involve providing Youth Engagement activities to trans and non-binary 18–25-year-olds who are facing homelessness or living in a hostile environment. This is an important part of our work supporting trans and non-binary young people into safe accommodation and work or education, supporting them to formulate and achieve their own life plans and preventing future homelessness.

Our Youth Engagement programme provides opportunities for young people accessing our services to:

• build skills and confidence to reach their own goals and objectives;
• access an affirming community of LGBTQ+ peers; and
• shape the work of akt.

We require a Social Worker to provide high quality social work in our schools across the Diocese of Salford according to each school’s formal agreement.

You will work directly with children and young people, their parents, carers and schools in order to further the child’s welfare and provide the interventions necessary to enable them to use their learning opportunities to the full. You must be able to provide a non-judgemental, caring and confidential environment throughout this work to ensure the issues are addressed in an appropriate manner for all those involved.

Project Manager (Course Tutor): “For My Future” delivery for young people – 14 hours/week (part-time)

“For My Future” is a bespoke 6-week course designed in 2019 specifically for people in the justice system. Focusing on both personal skills and practical ones (CVs, applications, interviews), the course is delivered either in person or online to small, single-sex cohorts over a 6-week period. To succeed in this role, you will have experience of supporting people in group scenarios and be confident presenting both in person and online. Groups will need to be carefully managed to ensure each young person gets the best experience and can benefit from the course.

Impact and Insights Officer

This is a brand new, unique role to be an impact catalyst across both Carlisle and Barnet youth zones, generating support and building towards a ‘culture of impact’ in both organisations such that outcome measurement and impact reporting becomes routine and ‘every day’.

About the Role

You will lead on data analysis and reporting on the data held in Salesforce CRM, improving both the quality and quantity of monitoring and evaluation processes, driving improvements in data capture through training and upskilling the Youth Work team, strengthening the ability of both youth zones to demonstrate the measurable impact of youth work delivered. 

You will also be responsible for measuring and demonstrating both charities’ impact to stakeholders; authoring and providing the necessary data to the leadership and fundraising teams and Board (as required), annual publications such as Trustees Reports and annual Impact Reports. Innovation is a key aspect of this role, involving the introduction and embedding of new methodologies to enhance the qualitative data capture process.

You will collaborate closely with a cross section of teams within the youth zones, working with the Youth Work delivery teams to feed data into decision making, and with the Communications and Fundraising teams to provide impact measurement and analysis content for use with stakeholders and in donor reporting. Furthermore, it will align impact and data work with national and local policy, and use national census, health, police and other statistical data to position both youth zones for new income generation opportunities.

About You

This role is ideal for someone who has the ability to bring technical analysis to life in a youth work setting and can communicate insights in an accessible style to different audiences. The Impact and Insights Officer should be passionate about embracing the power of youth work and be keen to support youth zones in evidencing the impact created with young people. It will require someone who can bring impact expertise and creativity to create buy-in and drive improvements in data capture; and someone who is keen to work flexibly and closely with teams of passionate youth workers and who is unafraid of the challenge presented by Youth Zones in two very different geographic locations.

About the role

Our Surrey Volunteer Recruitment Manager (VRM) works closely with VRMs in Herts and London and our marketing team to promote the MCR programme to organisations and individuals.  The purpose is to recruit committed volunteers who will mentor a young person in their school for one hour a week during term time. Based from home, our VRMs work closely with the wider MCR team ensuring a balance of autonomy and support. Travel to meetings, events and the Hertfordshire office are all reimbursed.

Key responsibilities:

• Recruit volunteer mentors to reach monthly targets  both through engagement in the community and with organisations

• Source and attend in person and remote events to recruit volunteer mentors 

• Clearly communicate the charity's purpose and the benefits to young people and mentors, developing purposeful relationships with prospective mentors and organisations through face to face meetings and presentations

• Experience of and expertise in relationship-building on an organisational  and individual level 

• Experience presenting compelling and emotionally engaging information sessions  to stakeholder organisations and individuals 

• Experience and understanding of the importance of recruiting a diverse range of volunteers 

• Can-do, proactive, flexible, solution-focused attitude 

• Belief in young people’s potential, modelling motivation, commitment and resilience

You may have experience of mentoring, volunteering or the third sector. You will be a people person, open minded and equally comfortable presenting to large audiences and engaging on a one to one basis.

MCR Pathways is an award-winning charity established in Glasgow in 2007.  Our mentoring programme is now delivered in schools across the whole of Scotland as well as Hertfordshire, Surrey and, soon, West London.  Our passionate team is dedicated to helping Surrey's most vulnerable young people gain in self-confidence, identify their skills and recognise and fulfil their potential.
