ROLE SUMMARY

This post holder will be a key member of our delivery team working across a portfolio of our inspiring projects and programmes that support young people to develop their skills, empower their potential and influence change.

We are looking for a fun and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and time management skills, and someone with an understanding of the issues facing young people and how these can be addressed through our programmes.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Delivering engaging sessions, workshops, and events for young people, both in-person and occasionally online.
• Travelling to programme venues across Greater Manchester (reasonable travel expenses reimbursed).
• Supporting young people to develop skills and confidence, and helping them create projects that make a difference in their communities.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with young people, promoting active participation.
• Working with the Youth Leads UK team to plan, prepare, and deliver activities.
• Bringing new ideas to strengthen our programmes and youth engagement work.
• Being part of the team that represents Youth Leads UK at conferences and events, including volunteer and career fairs.
• Keep up to date on new developments and trends within the youth sector

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience working with young people in group or individual settings — this could include volunteering, mentoring, or supporting peers through school, college, or community projects.
• Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentational).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent team player who works well collaboratively.
• Understanding of inclusion and the differing needs of young people from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Desirable Knowledge and skills:

• Confident IT and social media user (e.g. Canva, Zoom, TikTok, Instagram).
• Understanding of community engagement, volunteering, or social action.

YOUTH-LED APPROACH

One of the factors which make Youth Leads UK’s approach different is our belief in the value of youth insights and input to guide our work. The post holder will be expected to understand youth involvement and be an advocate for youth involvement which will include a flexible approach to work, including a willingness to take on tasks outside the normal remit, to work irregular hours, often evenings and weekends.

The role
The Children and Young People’s Key Worker will undertake individual and group sessions with children, young people and parents/carers who are participating in our young people using harm programmes. The purpose of this role is to deliver sessions that support a young person and their parents/carers to address and change their harmful behaviour, ensuring they develop their understanding of abuse, as well as its impact on others. You will support the delivery of face to face and online sessions, including up to two evening group sessions per week.

As a Children and Young People’s Key Worker, you will work with clients on awareness raising, developing their motivation to change, ensuring accountability, and prioritising safety of the young person and those around them. .

About you

You’ll be confident in delivering programmes to children, young people and their parents/carers, assessing and managing dynamics in 121 and group formats. You’ll have experience in gaining young people’s trust and you’ll be confident addressing challenging and harmful behaviour. You’ll have direct experience of working therapeutically with a client group. You will also have experience of managing safeguarding issues.

Above all you will be comfortable with conflict managements, and you’ll bring a positive, solution focus attitude. We’d also love to hear from applicants who are fluent in speaking an additional language or have experience in supporting young people with complex needs.

TLC: Talk, Listen, Change is a dynamic, leading relationships charity based in Greater Manchester and we are looking for a Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker (Thriving Families), to deliver tailored perpetrator interventions within a multi-disciplinary team.

The role
This role will work collaboratively within Manchester City Council’s multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Team, to support families where children are open to Child Protection or Child In Need Plans. The Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will engage directly with adults responsible for causing harm, aiming to increase perpetrator accountability and encourage positive change. Through one-on-one tailored interventions, the goal is to reduce risk to both victims and children, while enhancing the perpetrator's willingness to alter harmful behaviours.  The Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will work collaboratively with the Thriving Families Team and other agencies, ensuring a multi-agency, whole family approach. Additionally, the worker liaises with victim/survivor services to assess risks, formulate safety plans to secure better outcomes for those impacted by domestic abuse.

About you

You’ll be confident in delivering direct work with those who use harm.  This will include completing comprehensive assessments of risk and need to deliver tailored interventions.  You’ll have direct experience of working therapeutically with a client group and be confident in addressing challenging and harmful behaviour.  You will have experience of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.

About You
