Location: North East of England based with occasional travel throughout the region to local authorities in the North East

We will consider a secondment opportunity from any of our local authority partners, providing both parties agree.

To help us achieve our mission, we are recruiting qualified social workers with direct experience of working with children and families, and knowledge and experience of supporting social work students. We are looking for candidates who can contribute to the delivery of teaching across the year, support participants in their local authority hubs and supervise participants during the 2nd year of the programme.

Practice Tutors (PTs) work closely as a peer group to share effective ways of working across participant practice hubs, local authorities and regions. They play a key role within the development and delivery of our social work curriculum, contributing knowledge and expertise to create a culture that promotes outstanding social work education and enables teams to do their best work.

PTs are responsible for teaching and developing participants at the Readiness to Practice stage, regional teaching days and, in participant hubs within local authorities. PTs support four practice hubs, based within statutory children’s social care services. Each practice hub is led by a Consultant Social Worker (CSW). Core to the Practice Tutor role is the ability to provide support, challenge and guidance to participants and CSWs to ensure a high-quality
practice learning experience.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Use social work knowledge, theory, practice skill and experience to develop and support participants to become outstanding social workers
• Support CSWs to lead the hubs, role model best social work practice and support effective practice educators
• ​Teaching for year one participants is during the Readiness for Practice stage both in person and online, attend face to face regional recall days and whole cohort online teaching.. There is also online teaching for our year 2 participants on the programme through large lectures, small seminars and one to one support as necessary

Do you have experience working with families and children aged 0-13, a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable families and a relevant vocational or academic qualification?

Welcare is recruiting an experienced Family Support Worker to deliver a broad-based preventative support service for families with children up to the age of 13 in partnership with schools, churches, the local authority and other agencies, in the London boroughs of Bromley and Greenwich.

You will be delivering practical and emotional support to enhance the life chances of children who have experienced domestic abuse and social isolation through one-to-one support and group work programmes.  The post requires working with families in person and online remote working.  The office base is in Community House, Bromley.

General Duties:

1. To promote the programmes of work and manage the external and internal referral process including the assessment of need, risk and safeguarding concerns.

2. Hold a caseload of 4 families delivering “whole family” or targeted interventions.

3. Lead and facilitate community group work programmes including 6 #CapeAbility in Schools programme which aims to build resilience and self-esteem for children in key stage 2.

4. Lead and facilitate groupwork programmes for parents such Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities and Child Overcoming Domestic Abuse.

5. Safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults you work with directly and take appropriate action if escalation is needed.

6. To provide practical and emotional support to families or advocacy and signposting to specialist and universal services where appropriate.

7. Ensuring that the voices and views of children and young people are sought, heard and represented appropriately.

8. Attend designated meetings with multi-agency professionals and act as lead professional where appropriate to support the Team Around the Child/Family or Early Help Assessment (EHA).

About the role

The Media Manager will be responsible for taking charge of the ITF’s global media strategy. We are looking for an experienced media relations professional who can further enhance and solidify ITF’s reputation as the global voice of transport workers and as an authoritative voice in the transport industry and global trade union movement.

We’re seeking an experienced media relations manager, preferably with international experience and with established media relationships amongst leading international media.

You will be part of team responsible for delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role transport workers play, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights and equalities of the world’s transport workers.

Your role will be pivotal for securing media coverage that raises awareness of the work and priorities of the ITF internationally across broadcast, print, online media, and trade press.

This hands-on role, will lead on developing, implementing and advancing ITF’s global media relations strategy. The Media Manager will also provide strategic advice and coaching to ITF’s leadership on proactive and reactive media strategies, as well as strategic guidance and support for other members of the ITF’s multi-disciplinary communications team.

QAC is a charity that runs a college, supported living (known as Independence Plus) and community services for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

The College has been at its current location since 1903. Our original purpose was to provide education for young people who were blind or visually impaired. INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides is looking for a Head of Research, Evidence and Learning to lead the secretariat’s work on research, evidence, data and learning to inform impactful action on ending child, early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU). The successful candidate leads the Evidence and Learning Team and works closely with all teams to ensure Girls Not Brides is a go-to and trusted source for evidence and shared learning on what works to address CEFMU and support married girls, globally and in priority regions where we work. The role holder ensures the Girls Not Brides secretariat is a highly effective learning and knowledge hub on CEFMU, co-creating and sharing collective insights and evidence to strengthen our programme, advocacy and policy work driving impact across the movement.  

Working closely with Teams in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), they provide strategic leadership to increase uptake of research, evidence and collective knowledge by member organisations to enable more effective evidence-based action to end child marriage at all levels. Moreover, the role ensures we continue to play a leading role in coordinating global, regional and national evidence generation through convening diverse stakeholders, identifying evidence gaps and catalyzing collective efforts to strengthen the evidence base on what works to end child marriage.

In close collaboration with the Director of Learning, Evidence and Impact, the Head of Research, Evidence and Learning plays a leadership role in ensuring the timely and quality implementation and delivery of two key areas of the Strategic Objective on Learning of Girls Not Brides’ Secretariat Strategy 2022-2025. The role holder will work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and Impact team withing the same directorate but will not lead on the organisation’s MEAL work.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and inclusive leader with demonstrable experience in research, evidence and learning and supporting the uptake of evidence for programming, advocacy and policy influencing gender justice and social change issues. The ideal candidate will be an empowering and collaborative team leader, who is able to provide strategic leadership as well as be a good people manager. We are not looking for a MEAL specialist, but rather an individual who has experience and knowledge of translating research, data and evidence into impactful advocacy and programming.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads Girls Not Brides work to leverage knowledge, learning and evidence for impactful action to address child early and forced marriage and unions (CEFMU) across the movement.

• In close collaboration with the Director for Learning, Evidence and Impact, plays a leadership role in ensuring the timely and quality implementation and delivery of two key areas of the Strategic Objective on Learning of Girls Not Brides’ Secretariat Strategy 2022-2025, namely: 1) “Highly effective learning and knowledge hub co-creating and sharing collective insights and evidence to drive impact”, 2) “Stronger coordination of global, regional, and national evidence generation which supports the movement’s efforts to accelerate change to end child marriage”.
• Using a collaborative approach, manages a effective Evidence and Learning Team, consisting of up to five individuals, including performance management, professional development and providing ongoing support to individuals.
• As a member of the Advisory Management Team, contributes to key internal strategic and decision-making spaces.

• Oversee the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides’ Knowledge and Learning Hub, that ensures the secretariat is a go-to place for learning and evidence on CEFMU.
• Working with the Learning Team, oversees knowledge management activities for Girls Not Brides ensuring the organisation has the latest learning, evidence and data on CEFMU and has up-to-date evidence-based key messages on CEFMU and relevant topics.
• Oversees the development of learning resources and opportunities on ending child marriage, including the development of thematic briefs, learning or research webinars, capacity enhancement sessions, peer learning sessions, etc.
• Works closely with Learning Team and teams in Africa, Asia and LAC to identify and respond to learning priorities of members organisations in the Global Partnership.
• In close collaboration with Heads of Africa, Asia and LAC Teams, oversees the development and implementation of Girls Not Brides learning offer with National/State Partnerships, coalitions and members.
• In close collaboration with Teams in Africa, Asia and LAC, ensures the Secretariat works effectively with member organisations to document, collate and share information and evidence on what works to end CEFMU, and supports effective action and results within the global Partnership and broader movement.

Leads on the uptake of knowledge, learning and evidence by member organisations to increase the quality and impact of programming and evidence-based influencing.

• Supports the facilitation of knowledge exchange with and between member organisations, National and State Partnerships and coalitions and the broader movement.
• Ensures Girls Not Brides provides technical assistance on learning, data and evidence to selected National/State Partnerships and coalitions to inform and strengthen their collective advocacy and programming.

Oversees Girls Not Brides’ role to promote a stronger coordination of evidence generation at all levels.

• Working closely with the Research Manager, oversees the work of the Child Marriage Research to Action Network (CRANK) to support stronger coordination of global, regional, and national evidence generation which supports the movement’s efforts to accelerate change to end child marriage.
• Contributes to reinforce strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and to position Girls Not Brides with key research actors in the field such as the UN, academics, think tanks, etc. for better coordination in the field and stronger strategic collaborations.

• Post graduate degree in a relevant area, such as social science, development studies, international relations, human rights or gender, or relevant proven professional experience.

Young Adult Carers Service Coordinator

Carers’ Hub works to improve carers’ lives in Lambeth through quality services and community engagement. We are an independent local charity, who work with carers aged five upwards. Whether financial, educational or otherwise, they seek to limit the challenges that carers face and achieve this by improving carer’s wellbeing, connecting carers to support and training opportunities, awareness raising and influencing local policy. We are now recruiting for a Young Adult Carers Service Coordinator to join our team.

As the Young Adult Carers Service Coordinator you will: 

• Deliver an engaging, accessible range of workshops, social activities and one to one support for our young adult carers, working to targets and ensuring timely and accurate reporting to funders.

• Support the wider young carers service by being a first point of contact for telephone and email enquiries. 

• Develop external relationships and communications in a way that promotes the welfare of carers in Lambeth and enhances the image of the organisation. 

• Work with the Carers' Hub team to support our wider organisational objectives and helping out with events, communications and other ad hoc work.

To be considered for this role you will have experience of working with vulnerable young people and managing complex cases as well as knowledge of safeguarding protocols including referring and escalation to Children’s Social Care. • Strategic Leadership: Working with country and regional partners to support the development and delivery of climate resilience programmes and strategies within conflict and fragile contexts, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and the triple nexus approach.
• Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice and support on integrating climate resilience and anticipatory action into triple nexus programming for conflict and fragile contexts, employing a decolonised and intersectional lens to ensure interventions are culturally sensitive and locally led.
• Partnership Development: Foster strategic influencing partnerships with climate resilience leads in UK with FCDO, UN and international bodies, academic and other strategic organisations to enhance programme impact policy discussions and research, and drive policy and practice change to enable funding mechanisms and partnerships.
• Fundraising and influencing: support or lead fundraising efforts and, using programmatic and sector-wide learning, influence donor practices and policies to better achieve Nexus programming and adoption of decolonised resilience approaches .
• Learning and Innovation: Develop and test innovative approaches that integrate climate resilience and triple nexus programming in fragile and conflict contexts. Promote a learning culture, encouraging the documentation, communication and integration of lessons learned into programmes and policy (especially UK government humanitarian and development policy).

• Collaboration: working collaboratively across disciplines, broker dialogue and build shared agendas between teams for integrated programming and influencing, listen and build consensus amongst diverse stakeholders.
