Communication Officer
Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)
Content Creation: Develop engaging multimedia content, including videos, photos, and infographics, to effectively tell the story of Africa Access Water's (AfAW) initiatives.
Social Media Management: Assist in managing and maintaining AfAW’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), ensuring consistent and timely content posting.
Media Engagement: Coordinate media outreach, including drafting and distributing press releases, newsletters, and other communications to relevant media outlets.

Fundraising Assistants- Sustainability and Business Development
Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)
Two Fundraising Assistants: (1) Fundraising Assistant Officer - Sustainability (Commercial Farm) (2) Fundraising Assistant Officer- Business Development & Investment Opportunities Fundraising Support - Sustainability: Assist in funding for the sustainability activities for the organization such as establishment of a green and commercial farm which will support Africa Access Water mission - programs & projects.
Fundraising Support - Organization Business Development & Investment Opportunities: Assist in developing activities that Africa Access Water can do in order to raise resources for its operations.
Both Positions will mainly assist in planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns (online and offline) for AfAW. This includes research, writing of proposals and engaging donors or investors. Ultimately, raise the needed funds for the organization.

Background to the role:
Keep Active is a volunteer-delivered project at The Creighton Centre, which aims to provide support to older people (60+) who have had a fall, stroke or other illness. We work in partnership with the NHS Community Rehabilitation Service across Hammersmith & Fulham. As a Keep Active Volunteer you would visit an older person (the average age is 84) once a week for up to nine weeks to help them with improving mobility indoors with exercises, or outdoors with walks in their community. This project aims to empower people to get back to independence, access community once more and reduce risks of future falls and hospital re-admittance.
Availability/commitment:
· To live in or near Hammersmith and Fulham, or travel regularly through
· To be able to spare 1-2 hours a week, preferably during working hours
Role of the Keep Active Volunteer:
· To attend an initial one-off training session [with Volunteer Coordinator and therapists from NHS rehabilitation teams].
· To visit an older person’s home once a week for up to 9 weeks to supervise and motivate them to continue practicing their exercise and walking goals, as prescribed by NHS rehabilitation teams.
· Support might include:
- A walk around their local community possibly going to the park or visiting shops.
- Encouraging them to complete a prescribed gentle exercise program.
- Keeping an older and sometimes isolated person company.
- Visiting someone in their homes to help them reach their exercise goals.
NB: Please note that this is a volunteer role and you will not be expected to provide any physical support. This is a motivational role only.
We will provide:
· Induction training and NHS Community Rehabilitation led training (weekday training).
· Regular contact and support from the project staff.
· Occasional social events for volunteers
· Occasional training opportunities for volunteers
· A reference after 3-6 months of volunteering with us

Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.
The companion service volunteer can choose to be:
• A companion telephone/video caller
• A companion within the person’s home
• A companion outside the person’s home
• Or a combination of all three.
Examples of the type of support the service offers include:
• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat.
• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.
• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.
• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups.

We are looking for the following skills/interests:
• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.

• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

Crisis Birmingham are recruiting Lead Advocate Volunteers which are apart of our Homeless Health Peer Volunteering Team.
Our Homeless Health Project focuses on supporting individuals experiencing homelessness to better access health care (GPs, Eyecare, Dentists, etc.) through peer volunteering.
Our Lead Advocates support a small caseload of clients to attend health appointments and communicate their health needs to professionals. Alongside being a Lead Advocate, Volunteers will also get the opportunity to support our Education project.

Rape Crisis South London (RCSL) works in partnership with Rape Crisis England and Wales on the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line. Support line volunteers provide telephone support, information and signposting to survivors of sexual violence aged 16+ across the country. We are open 24 hours a day. Shifts are 3 hours long and volunteers can choose which shift to sign up to, to fit in around any other commitments. We provide all our volunteers with an accredited training course from the Open College Network. The post is open to female applicants only as the role is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Responsibilities and duties:
1. Provide telephone support and information to callers on the support line, including survivors of sexual violence, family/friends/partners of survivors and other professionals.
2. Provide empathic, non-judgemental and boundaried support at all times.
3. Signpost callers to local specialist services.
4. Complete basic administration during the shift.
5. Debrief with Support Line Workers after every shift.
6. Communicate issues or concerns in timely manner to Volunteer Programme Manager.
7. Attend monthly supervision support sessions.
8. Attend quarterly support line meetings and CPD training
9. To uphold Rape Crisis South London’s (RCSL) Confidentiality Agreement.
10. Follow RCSL’s policies, practices, standards and ethics.
The commitment we ask of you:
1. Volunteer for RCSL for at least 1 year after completion of your training and 3-month probation period.
2. Volunteer on the support line for a minimum of 4 times per month and sign up for shifts at least a month in advance.
3. Volunteer for at least one bank holiday, and four weekend shifts per year.
4. Attend monthly supervision at an agreed time.

About the service
North East Wales Mind is a progressive mental health organisation that supports people experiencing mental health difficulties to flourish. The aim of our work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives. We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. We support the people of Flintshire and Wrexham to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition.
Purpose of role:
To provide phone support to service users from home/ office. This role is flexible (you can make calls anytime between 5-7pm and requires you to call a client for up to half an hour a week for a period of up to 3 months.
Must have access to the internet and a phone that can switch to private setting or NEWMIND can provide them with a phone, or use of office equipment.
Main tasks:
· Providing emotional support via phone
· Assessing surrounding support
· Advising them with available provisions and services locally
· Providing practical support such as learning activities, wellbeing practises and links available to service user from home
· Writing records of dates and times and phone discussions
· Reporting back to the Volunteer Coordinator via email and phone for any extra available support
· Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a member of staff.
What we are looking for:
· Confident and effective communication
· Understanding of professional boundaries
· Caring nature
· Knowledge of local services is desired.
· Lived experience of mental health difficulty desirable
· Understanding of, or experience of caring for someone with mental health difficulty, can be helpful but is not essential.
· Good listening skills, non-judgemental attitude, and empathy
· Ability to motivate.
· Ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations in a calm manner.
· Commitment for a minimum of 6 months
· Volunteers must be aged 18 and over.

The Support Team at The Brain Tumour Charity are aiming to address the clear gap in emotional support available to those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, by expanding their counselling service. Following the delivery of a successful pilot service, we know the difference that talking therapy can make and our goal is to reach more people, ensuring everyone that wants it, gets the support that they need.
How can you help?
As a Counselling Assessment Volunteer for this service, you will be the first point of call for new clients entering in to the service. This role will require you to talk to a wide range of people - from those newly diagnosed, to others at end of life and also bereaved. As a Counselling Assessment Volunteer, you will be required to:
- Carry out pre-booked counselling assessments with clients who have self-referred themselves into the counselling service
- Gather information through the assessment about the client’s circumstances, explore their needs, explain how the service can help and discuss with them whether the counselling service is suitable
- Confidently follow our safeguarding process, to ensure risk is assessed and appropriate steps are taken to safeguard each client’s well-being
- Observe confidentiality in line with our organisational policy
- Keep accurate and appropriate records on our internal database
We’re looking for...
Someone who is empathetic and supportive in nature, and who is excited by the opportunity to bring this counselling service to the wider brain tumour community. You will also need:
- Experience in providing emotional support to others, perhaps through another role focusing on bereavement, mental health or life limiting illnesses
- Ideally have had previous training in counselling, mental health first aid, or other relevant course
- Ability to work autonomously
- Relevant IT skills in order to maintain appropriate and accurate records on our counselling database
- As this is a home-based role, you will need access to a telephone and computer that you are happy to use for this service

Practical considerations
You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific train-ing for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. We carry out references for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal training, data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. We may close applications early if we recieve a high number of applications for this role.

• Support the Vulnerable: If you notice a client in need of additional help, you'll inform our Coordinator for further assessment.
About You
You will need:
• Qualified driver status with a full, current UK driving license (maximum 6 penalty points) and access to own car. Mileage expenses covered.

• To be reliable, punctual and have the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
