This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated behaviour consultant to support multiple people across Kent to live, love, thrive and belong. Supporting people in their own homes, you will have experience supporting people with a learning disability, autism, and mental health conditions who have also experienced trauma.

The role as the Behaviour Consultant Lead will be to:

• Work closely alongside our support teams to conduct comprehensive assessment, intervention, and evaluations over the long term, developing positive behaviour support plans that enable therapeutic support to be delivered within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework. 
• Deliver PROACT-SCIPr-UK® training to our support teams. 
• Coach our support teams how to deliver excellent support, using approaches such as Active Support. 
• Support the team to develop skills in monitoring and evaluating outcomes, for example using the Periodic Service Review.
• Support the business development team with new referrals, ensuring that we are working within our defined model of support and developing that model to meet new needs where appropriate.
• Work with the families of the people we support to continue to build open, honest, and transparent working relationships.
• Ensure that your work is always delivered through a trauma-informed lens, upskilling the team around you to consider the impact of trauma on their practice.

Our Clinical Assessment & Intervention Team (CAIT)

Led by a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst and UKBA(Cert), we have highly specialised team of clinicians, including rehabilitation workers for the visually impaired and behaviour consultants. We assess functional vision and test for cerebral visual impairments, which can often be an overlooked establishing operation for behavioural challenges. As well as direct assessment and intervention to work to increase people’s opportunities in life, we train our support teams to meet the people we supports’ unique needs.  Our team members are committed to joint working with families, support teams and our NHS and local authority colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support.

We work as partners with the residential or supported living teams to build plans that are accepted, operationally achievable, generalisable, and sustainable. 

Your experience & personal characteristics 

As you will be working with people in their own homes, residential and group supported living services, you must be confident engaging with diverse groups of people, family members and multi-agency professionals.  You need to be passionate about equality and equity, being able to see the potential for improvement and knowing how to guide the person we support and their team to achieve the best. You will already have experience working directly with people who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, multi-sensory impairments, and people who may present behaviours that challenge.  You will be fluent in the use of applied behaviour analysis to devise ways that are simple but effective to measure baseline and on-going development.  You will be able to support our teams by putting plans into action through your direct modelling.

Your qualifications

This position requires a minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or a related field (such as Positive Behaviour Support) with at least two years of applicable experience; or Master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, with one year of professional experience. 

Candidates wishing to work towards their BCBA or UKBA(Cert) qualification will get their supervision as part of this role.

Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) is a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to give struggling children hope and a future.

Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences. 

In this role we are looking for an individual that thrives working with children and young people in a school context and is passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. This role requires a formal counselling qualification or at least evidence of notable progress on the journey to attaining a counselling qualification. The TLG Therapeutic Counsellor will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents too.

We have a new opportunity for a specialist Dual Diagnosis Worker to join the team in Croydon on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a new role to the team and you will deliver evidence-based interventions based on  holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will work to the long term support needs of our residents and work towards facilitating improved outcomes. 

Our service has 27 residents across 4 sites, which specialise in Forensic Mental Health aiming to enable and empower our residents to achieve their maximum levels of functional independence and enhance their sense of wellbeing.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant needs.
  Include appropriate substance misuse interventions within support plans for those with co-occurring substance dependence and mental health need devising systematic plans for care; implementing this plan; coordinating the input of others and evaluating effectiveness.
• Undertake joint holistic assessments and risk assessments with residents/participants to help determine service and support needs and identify where these can be met. Provide outcome-based support measured against goals, recovery, and achievements.
• Encourage residents/participants to identify and define their own goals and work towards being resilient and independent as possible, support with reducing reliance on clinical interventions and hospitalisations. 
• Promote active involvement of those with dual diagnosis, assist residents/participants to identify their own strengths, personal interests and goals and support them to access and participate in activities of their choice.
• Undertake time-limited, SMART, and a range of evidence-based interventions such as 1-1’s, including harm minimisation, increasing awareness and motivation through stages of change and relapse prevention.
• Support in creating and maintaining a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents/participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Positively promote and support connections with local communities and boroughs of SIG’s services and liaise with other teams to maintain and share knowledge and links to support people to access resources which include print, personal and digital.
• Develop community links and liaise regularly with a range of agencies and individuals across voluntary and third sector services in the community including but not limited to; drug and alcohol services, supported employment schemes, gyms and healthy living programmes, recovery colleges, and benefits and advice agencies.
• Act as a role model for staff of all disciplines and grades working with people with co-occurring mental health, alcohol and/or drug problems. 
• Share knowledge and skills to help enhance awareness around dual diagnosis and best practice, challenges, and services available with other services of Social Interest Group.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Knowledge, understanding and experience of working with people of complex backgrounds. Ideally ex-offenders, those with enduring mental health, substance misuse and challenging behaviours
• Experience of assessing needs and strengths, and supporting people with dual diagnosis and complex needs
• Previous experience in a similar role, providing holistic assessments and support for people experiencing mental illness who use substances
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Able to recognise ill health and additional support and need for interventions
• Knowledge of the interactions between mental health problems and drug and alcohol use and the issues facing people trying to stabilise their situation
• Applied knowledge of the principles of risk assessment and risk management, particularly in relation to harm minimisation
• Ability to engage those who may be hard to reach, able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others

What we would like, but not essential:

• Experience in delivering training in motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Theory informed approaches and other relevant recovery models

Summary of Role

Working under the direction of our Centre Managers at Arc in the Park and Abbey Hub, Youth Workers are key to ensuring the successful delivery of our provision for young people. The role will include the delivery of specific youth work projects and programmes delivered in accordance with the policies and procedures of AAA, helping young people to develop personally, socially and educationally. The role will include providing support to vulnerable and at-risk service users.

Responsibilities

·Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of young people by assisting in the running, organisation and delivery of AAA youth projects, including building-based and detached street work projects

·Establishing positive relationships with all young people supporting and enabling them to increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities. 

·Coordinating resources and developing opportunities and activities for young people which reflects their particular needs and circumstances. 

·Facilitating the active involvement of the young people in the planning and development of the project programme. 

·Facilitating the positive integration of young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or special needs within the project. 

·Mentoring young people by supporting positive behaviours, delivering life-skills sessions and workshops.

·Assisting young people in identifying progression opportunities and providing on-going transition support for those moving into college, employment, apprenticeships or further learning.

·Monitoring and evaluating projects with young people and staff, providing reports as required to the Board of Trustees.

·Supporting young people to gain accreditation through their involvement in projects

·Supporting young people to raise money for activities through fundraising.

Katherine Low Settlement is a charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community projects to tackle poverty and isolation, and empower and support children, young people and their families, older people, women and refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We also incubate and support local charities and social businesses to thrive, so together we can meet the diverse needs of the local communities of Wandsworth. Each week we work with 28+ charities supporting more than 1,000 people.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people

Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

We work with older people to:

• Encourage active and independent living

• Reduce isolation and loneliness

• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health

• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
5. Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
6. Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
7. Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Delivery

• Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
• Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
• Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.

2. Staff and Volunteer Management

• Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
• Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.

3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks

• Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

4. Finance

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.

5. Other Duties

• Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
• Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

Summary of Role

Working under the direction of our Centre Managers at Arc in the Park and Abbey Hub, Support Workers are key to

ensuring the successful delivery of our provision for children and young people. Working with children and young

people in group settings, the role will support the delivery of our play and youth projects and activities to aid their

development.

Responsibilities

● Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of children and young people by assisting in

the running, organisation and delivery of particular projects.

● Establishing positive relationships with all children and young people supporting and enabling them to

increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities.

● Coordinating resources and to develop opportunities for children and young people which reflects their

particular needs and circumstances.

● Facilitating the active involvement of the children and young people in the planning and development of the

project programme.

● Facilitating the positive integration of children and young people with behavioural difficulties and/or

additional needs within the project.

● Supporting and guiding volunteers, trainees and junior leaders in all of the above, as required.

● Working as a member of the AAA team to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and young people

being supervised including day to day 'housekeeping' of the site and maintenance of equipment.

The Margins Project, Union Chapel’s Frontline charity, work with people who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness and helps address pertinent social justice issues these communities face.

The charity runs three integrated programmes:

• a community drop-in programme providing access to nutritious hot meals, and limited access to showers & laundry services.

• advice and engagement programme providing one-to-one as well as group advice service on benefits and housing, and onward referrals to pertinent services.

• support employment programme offers a paid catering training to 10 people who have had experience of homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill-health, and or imprisonment.

Our range of services are designed to help guests (service users) at varying stages, from having no roof over their head to getting back into employment.

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced adviser to help shape and evolve Margins services. Experiences on the ground at the drop-in programme inform the charity’s strategic direction. The role will involve expanding our partner network to link into pertinent statutory and other charitable organisations that provide services that will help our guests with their housing, substance misuse, recidivism, and mental health challenges.

We work closely with people on an individual case work basis to get guests off the streets, into hostels or temporary accommodation where possible, and work with private and social landlords on a range of issues. We support and represent the people we work with on the phone and in person, including at the council, the doctors, the job centre, and benefits tribunals.

Our drop-ins run on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am to 1:00pm where attendance is currently from 65 to 75 guests. The advice and engagement worker works more intensively with smaller numbers of up to 20. The demand for more follow up work and advocacy support has been increasing over the last two years and this in-house advice worker is critical for this demand.

Working collaboratively with the Drop-in Community worker (currently vacant), the head chef, and a small group of dedicated volunteers, you will be responsible for the support of a caseload of guests, some with complex needs, and will undertake key work responsibilities including registering the guests, identifying their housing, benefit and personal needs and conducting all necessary follow ups including occasional advocacy support, where deemed necessary.

Purpose of Job:

• To advise and assist guests (service users) with benefit claims and related issues, e.g., Housing Benefit, DLA, PIP, Income Support, ESA, Universal Credit, and other benefits. In particular, assisting them to claim Housing Benefit and UC to reduce risk of rent arrears.

• To develop significant contact and liaison with comparable housing and benefits advice organisations.

• To encourage guests engage with Margins activities, and where practicable, with the wider Union Chapel activities.

• To develop, facilitate and deliver group advice workshops/training programmes and open discussions forums to engage guests who historically do not engage with Union Chapel.

• To Refer Margins guests to relevant internal and external services.

The Advice and Engagement Worker will have an active role in identifying and engaging guests as well as referring potential candidates to the Supported Employment Programme, a programme anticipated to expand beyond its current services in Margins catering.

Responsible For:

• Working with caseload of guests

• With the support of drop-in services community worker (currently vacant) to ensure the smooth running of the drop-in services

• Identifying opportunities to improve services both at a project and organisational level.

• Assist the Head of Margins in ensuring that the Margins Project remains GDPR compliant.

• Represent the organisation effectively internally and externally.

• Working in partnership with statutory and other charities to deliver co-ordinated support to guests.

Key Duties:

• To encourage and assist guests achieve the maximum income from benefits to which they are entitled to, and to refer to relevant support services such as mental health, social services, community support.

• To advise guests on basic budgeting and where applicable to refer to Tenancy Support Officers or outside agencies for more complex help.

• To liaise closely with local authorities, social, and private landlords to try to achieve the best outcome for our guests.

• To identify if the guest is accessioning the right benefit that will support their long-term wellbeing.

• To support newly arrived refugees with their housing and benefit advice needs.

• To actively assist guests with formal appeals against Local Authority, DWP and HMRC decisions regarding benefit entitlement. Representing at Appeal Tribunals.

• To signpost guests to resources that can assist them in finding work.

• When needed, signposting guests to specialist providers in mental health or drug and alcohol support services.

• To Support guests on paying their rent, including providing advice on benefits and debt management.

• To Address breaches of occupancy agreements and develop strategies that would prevent and avoid eviction.

• To assist guests with backdated claims for Benefit by supporting their applications through to completion.

• To ensure all guests’ files are up-to-date and that data is captured on our management system.

• To provide written reports and statistics as and when requested.

• To attend supervision, training, and meetings as and when required.

• To provide advocacy support to guests as and when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

• Good knowledge of the benefits system, including Universal Credit.

• Experience of working with homeless and marginalised people and understanding of the issues that face them.
