Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. What can you expect to be doing?
This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

Role overview
We would love to hear from young people interested in gaining experience as trustees of a charity board. As part of our commitment to diversifying our board, but recognising the barriers to young people interested in trusteeship due to the time commitment, lack of financial compensation, and the support required for young people with less experience, we are committing to taking on two young people as shadow trustees.
As a shadow trustee, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the organisation’s management and administration, contributing to strategic decisions that support our vision of a thriving natural world. The successful candidates will help us shape the shadow trusteeships in terms of the time commitment they can make to the boardand the areas of governance they would like to be more engaged in. Skills specification
We are looking for a diverse range of skills to enrich our board. While previous trusteeship experience is not required for our young trusteeships, any of the following areas of expertise would be valuable:
- Change management: Revising and recreating strategies; changes in leadership, restructuring organisations; globalisation.
- Community engagement: Engaging communities in rural and urban areas; developing memberships.
- Conservation: Studies and/or practical experience of conservation in the UK, particularly invertebrates.
- Digital communications: Digital communications and/or marketing; social media growth; digital campaigns.
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI): Lived experience of an identity marginalised in the UK; developing or contributing to better EDI practice both internally within an organisation and/or wider engagement and communications.
· Financial skills and business planning experience including accounts, year end audit, investments, finance systems and compliance.
· An understanding of charity finance and its regulatory environment and experience of organisation finance and fundraising.
- HR: HR management and expertise; organisational procedures; employment law.

Role commitment
The time commitments for shadow trustees will be finalised with the successful candidates, but as a guideline, this is the commitment for our current trustees:
- Attend three half-day meetings and one full-day meeting per year, along with preparation time for board materials.
- Participate in occasional additional meetings and committees.

CMV Action is the only charity in the UK providing support and information to families affected by congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV). Congenital CMV is the most common viral infection that can affect babies before birth, with potential long-term health impacts such as hearing loss, developmental delays and vision loss. It can also cause miscarriage and stillbirth.
As many as 1 in 200 newborn babies are born with congenital CMV. The majority of these will not have any symptoms. However, around 1 in 1,000 born in the UK every year will have permanent disabilities as a result of congenital CMV – around 900 children every year. As congenital CMV is a relatively unknown condition, it is a common misconception that it is rare. It is in fact more common than Down’s syndrome, Toxoplasmosis, Spina Bifida or Cystic Fibrosis.

REMUNERATION

Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.
Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.
Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively. As a prison volunteer you will:

- Teach prisoners to stitch FCW products within the framework of our training programme

The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. If you are an experienced fundraiser, we need your help! Been There’s Board of Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. Context:
The Board of Trustees is jointly responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the integrity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, and legal and regulatory guidelines.
All trustees should also be aware of, and understand, their individual and collective responsibilities, and should not be overly reliant on one or more individual trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity.
The statutory duties of a trustee are:

Paradise Cooperative was founded in 2014 with the aim of finding and utilising underdeveloped land for urban growing and community gardening.

Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?
We're looking for 2 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service.
As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.
Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.
People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.
Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.
What the role involves
This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

Undertake a client assessments, followed by person-centred counselling (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus 4 psychometric assessments

Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

Update our database with the client’s information, sessional notes and session attendance

Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR
- Attending and participating in peer supervision support

Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current
- Participating in volunteer meetings
- Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principle

Attend monthly Supervision and peer support sessions to ensure safe working practices
We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.
What you need for this role
Essential
- Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised organisations (see below)
- Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR
- Minimum of 100 hours supervised
- Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
- A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
- Able to keep people’s personal data safe

Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for counselling sessions plus time for administration. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.

What impact will the opportunity have?
You will join the charity during a critical and challenging period where referrals are on the rise and your expert knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our success. You will have a key role in not only developing a counselling service for our clients but also ensure we provide counselling services and mental health support to our CRPS patients & their families who are in need of our support and inclusion on a regular basis. Brighton Parent Infant Psychological Therapy (BrightPIP) is a small, local charity that provides intensive support to expectant parents and those with babies under the age of three.
