Join Pecan as our Women's Service Community Advocate, and help us enable women in Southwark and Lewisham to access trauma informed advocacy, support, advice and signposting services with a focus on mental health, finance and debt, housing, and substance use.
 

We offer 1:1 Advocacy and Casework to women who are exiting the criminal justice system, women at risk of entering the criminal justice system, and other women at multiple disadvantage with complex needs in the boroughs of Southwark and Lewisham. Our hub spaces provide a safe space for women in the boroughs, where they can make new social connections and build their confidence through our programme of workshops.

You will be co-located in Women’s Hubs in Southwark and Lewisham, providing support to women in the community and those leaving custody, and assisting them to access wider-borough services. By providing 1:1 advocacy for your clients, you will assist the organisation in transforming the lives of the most disadvantaged people in our community.

Main Responsibilities:

• Client Care: Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support to women referred to our services. 
• Communication: Use a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with service-users, prison and probation staff, external organisations, and the general public. 
• Administration: Maintain accurate, confidential service-user records of interaction, interventions, and contact details.

As a Caseworker, you’ll work directly with unpaid carers, providing a vital mix of practical advice, emotional support, and advocacy. From conducting statutory carer assessments to organising support groups and events, your work will ensure that carers feel recognised, valued, and supported in all aspects of their role.
 
You will engage with carers via various channels - phone, email, text, face-to-face, and group settings - ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. This is a multi-faceted role that blends frontline casework with community engagement and strategic development.
 
Main responsibilities of the role include:
 
Direct Support to Carers: 

• Deliver comprehensive carer assessments in line with the Care Act 2014, and co-produce tailored support plans
• Identify and assess eligibility for Carers Personal Budgets and assist with the application process
• Provide accurate and empathetic information, advice, and guidance on carers’ rights, benefits (e.g. PIP, Carer’s Allowance, Attendance Allowance), housing, and local services
• Act as a listening ear and a source of emotional reassurance for carers navigating challenges and crises
• Liaise with Local Authorities, NHS providers, and voluntary agencies to advocate for carers and coordinate support
• Make appropriate referrals and ensure follow-ups are completed

Identification and Outreach: 

• Lead proactive outreach efforts to identify new carers, particularly those from underrepresented or vulnerable communities
• Build and nurture collaborative relationships with GPs, hospitals, primary care teams, and community organisations
• Raise awareness of unpaid carers and the charity’s services through campaigns and community presence
• Contribute to the development of internal strategies and external policies that reflect the needs and voices of carers

Administration & Case Management:

• Maintain high-quality records using internal systems (Charity Log) and the Mosaic Local Authority database
• Register new carers and ensure timely updates to service user records
• Prepare case summaries and contribute to internal and external reports for management, commissioners, and funders
• Ensure data compliance, confidentiality, and GDPR adherence at all times

Team & Organisational Development:

• Act as a lead on specific areas of knowledge (e.g., benefits, outreach) and share expertise across the team
• Attend regular team meetings, supervision, and 1:1s, contributing to a positive and solution-focused culture
• Participate in ongoing training and staff development opportunities

The Successful Candidate:

Experience of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of need
Managing a personal caseload, including detailed case note keeping
Providing advice and support in a frontline or community setting
Exposure to the health and social care sector (voluntary experience welcomed)

Our Youth and Play Workers will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. In this role you will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities, both from Tulse Hill Adventure Playground and within local schools. The work of the Children, Young People and Families team is diverse and varied. Our current services include open access adventure play and youth activities at our Adventure Playground, school holiday programmes with off-site trips and activities, coaching in local schools, a Young Leaders programme offering paid work experience to young people, and working together with our youth partnerships Building Young Brixton and Lambeth Peer Action Collective.

We are experiencing an exciting time of development for the team and are currently looking to recruit four Youth and Play Workers. • Community Resettlement Workers support clients who have moved in to independent accommodation, usually from the street or hostels. The accommodation is across London and your role is to work alongside individuals as they transition towards independence.

The Dad Matters Coordinator will support dads with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to services. You will have the ability to work with professionals and healthcare services to ensure dads are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways. Key responsibilities 

Supporter Engagement 

• Respond to supporter enquiries via phone, letter, email and social media in a timely and professional manner, and with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail. 

• Triage enquiries, referring complaints, safeguarding and safety matters to the specialists in the organisation and escalating other enquiries as needed to subject-matter experts. 

• Listen and respond to the needs of each supporter, understanding their motivations and experiences to foster long-term relationships.

Payment processing

Job Description: Training and Events Officer

The Training and Events Officer will play a key role developing and delivering high quality professional development, training, events, workshops to SLA members and wider audiences. The postholder will develop inspirational, insightful and innovative routes to supporting SLA members to deliver on their school library provision remit, enabling children and young people to reach their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about school libraries, education and training.

You will work with the CEO, SLA colleagues and key stakeholders to develop and deliver a comprehensive training offer, including leading on logistics planning and delivery of our flagship annual conference. In addition, you will develop and maintain a calendar of exciting events and opportunities to share knowledge and insight, working with colleagues to ensure the offer is timely and informative. A confident facilitator and coordinator, you will be comfortable leading on training delivery, or recruiting and working with external facilitators in order to achieve specific outcomes.  Creative, with a flair for spotting opportunities for professional development, you will have a keen eye for detail and an ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines. Resource creation will be second-nature to you and you’ll be comfortable writing for adults and children, and young people.

Duties include:

• Logistics planning and delivery of the flagship event, SLA Annual Conference (currently called the Weekend Course) providing high quality professional development and networking opportunities to members 
• With CEO and key stakeholders, supporting the development of a comprehensive, engaging and exciting conference programme and recruit 40 exhibitors, plus event speakers as needed
• Supporting development of the training strategy working with the CEO to define aims and objectives
• Developing and maintaining a calendar of training, workshops and events aligned with the training strategy, working with the CEO and SLA colleagues, in particular the Outreach Support Officer
• Creation of supporting resources, toolkits and lesson plans to increase training engagement and impact

• Delivering and facilitating inspirational and engaging training and events as required (online and in person)

• Developing relationships with partners to produce high quality webinars, training and online events – including SLA members, funders, external stakeholders
• Exploring and evaluating business and funded models for training and events to ensure an income stream
• Working with external facilitators, recruiting them as needed, to deliver training and workshops, ensuring delivery is aligned with SLA requirements and outcomes
• Managing all training and events administration, planning and logistics

• Working with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Sales and Membership Officer, to ensure effective communication and promotion of training and events, providing timely information and updates as needed

• Generating all event reports and updates as needed for internal and external use

To be successful in this role you should ideally demonstrate:

· experience of working in school libraries, the education sector and a strong understanding of the education landscape

· experience developing and delivering inspirational training, to small and large groups, both online and in person

· understanding of what works (and what doesn’t) for different formats and types of training and using evaluation to establish impact

· experience creating training resources, toolkits and teaching and learning resources

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our nursing team.

You’ll act as a specialist resource for Breast Cancer Now, clients, healthcare professionals and the wider public on the subject of breast health, screening, risk, benign breast disease and primary breast cancer. This includes providing information and support to clients through our helpline and Ask Our Nurse (AON) written enquiry service.

You’ll also work closely with other teams across the charity and externally on our breast awareness messaging and breast screening in addition to breast health and breast cancer.

About you

You will be a registered general nurse, with a relevant qualification in cancer or breast cancer nursing, either stand-alone or as part of degree studies.

You’ll have knowledge of breast cancer having worked directly with breast cancer patients or in breast screening. You’ll have the ability to show tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

With your excellent communication skills you will be able to present both formal and informal teaching to a variety or audiences.

Job Summary
Under its current 5-year strategy (2021 – 2025), ‘Choosing Peace in times of fear & division’, Place for Hope has successfully grown and diversified its partnerships, funding and volunteer team. This has enabled us to grow our reach and impact in equipping people and faith communities to be peacemakers working towards a more peaceful and reconciled world. 

The new Director of Place for Hope will continue to develop Place for Hope as they work with Trustees, Staff and Volunteers to shape and finalise the next 5-year strategy that ensures Place for Hope is fit for purpose in a changing UK landscape for charities and faith communities. They will provide leadership and to be responsible for the overall management and administration of the charity within the strategic and accountability frameworks agreed by the Board of Trustees. 

Previous experience essential to the role includes: values-based leadership; peace, conflict transformation and/or mediation; collaborating and communicating effectively with different Christian denominations and other faiths, excellent organisational and communication skills, and experience in income generation (including through building diverse partnerships).The ideal candidate would also have an interest in supporting faith communities to transform conflict, navigate change well and be able to support an internal CPD programme and culture of reflective practice.
