Job description

Access All Areas seeks a flexible, pro-active and people-focused Access Administrator to join the Access All Areas team to manage access related administration including Access to Work, universal credit and invoices for work, particularly for our company of learning disabled and autistic Associate Artists.

You will be well organised and have excellent attention to detail, with strong basic finance skills. Your excellent communication will mean that you can clearly share financial information with all colleagues and learning disabled and autistic artists.

Access All Areas makes award-winning, disruptive theatre by learning disabled and autistic artists. 

Our performances create intimate moments of interaction between artists and audiences; occupying unexpected spaces in venues, on the streets, and in public buildings. We’ve toured our work across the UK and internationally.

Through our Performance Company we support the artistic development of some of the world’s leading learning disabled creatives, who are all graduates of our award-winning Performance Making Diploma held at the Royal School of Speech and Drama. Our Transforming Leadership programme is changing ideas of who can lead and how, and ensuring that learning disabled and autistic creatives have a voice at all levels of our culture. 

Job Description 

Responsibilities

• To manage the process of making claims to Access to Work for artists and staff, working with the Executive Director, Support Workers, and Associate Artists.

• To manage new applications or renewal applications for Access to Work grants for artists.

• To work closely with our company of learning disabled and autistic artists, and their legal appointees if appropriate, to support Universal Credit or Employment Support Allowance claims and reporting.

• With our Access Manager, to support and advocate for Associate Artists at occasional external meetings related to finance, benefits, or Access to Work grants, such as job-centre or universal credit meetings.

• To manage all invoices for and with our Associate Artists, working with our Programme Manager and Accountants to ensure timely payment for artists.

• To manage any issues relating to self-employed status for artists, including freelance tax returns.

• To support the Access Team with administration.

• To ensure any personal financial information relating to our Associate Artists is stored systematically and securely.

• To help maintain company databases.

• To present financial and other information to Associate Artists in a clear accessible format (Easy Read training will be provided)

• To undertake any other duties as reasonably required.


Person Specification

Essential

You must:

• have experience of office administration.

• have uncompromising attention to detail.

• have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• have good basic maths skills.

• be familiar with MS Office products, including Microsoft Excel, and have good basic IT skills.

• be interested in disability, theatre or the arts.

• have a pro-active, flexible, patient and kind approach to work.

Desirable

It’s not essential, but it might be helpful in the role if you:

• have some experience of financial administration or processes.

• have experience of or a significant interest in working with people with learning disabilities or autism.

• have some experience in, or interest learning about, processes surrounding benefits or Access to Work.

This role is open to applicants living in any area of the UK. We aim to facilitate a fully flexible approach to working, to allow for caring responsibilities or access needs.

We are open to discussing a reduced-hours contract of 28 or 32 hrs per week, with pro-rated salary, to allow for caring or access needs.
