Health & Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join our Estates Team. In your role as the Health & Safety Officer will be to provide support on an operational basis to the health & safety function.

Role Requirements

• Promote good stakeholder involvement and good safety culture
• Prepare and issue monthly health and safety briefing documents / toolbox talks
• Keep health and safety information up to date, including all fire safety documentation (fire emergency plans, fire safety manuals etc.), the health and safety section of the intranet and shared documents
• Carry out regular walkabouts, including at retail stores, keeping in touch with staff on their safety arrangements and ensuring control measures are in place and effective
• Provide health and safety training and coaching on topics such as, but not limited to, general health & safety (induction and refresher training), fire safety, COSHH, risk assessing and manual handling
• Develop and refresh internal online training to support staff learning experiences
• Carry out general risk assessment, as required, with particular emphasis on retail, regulatory requirements, outings and the clinical environment.
• Update fire risk assessments for low to medium-risk buildings, tracking completion of actions and updating compliance software
• Manage COSHH risk assessments and the COSHH risk register, checking on suitable PPE and storage
• Manage compliance with workstation assessments, including homeworking, using the external management system
• Support teams, enabling them to carry out their risk assessments, including manual handling assessments for inanimate activities
• Develop and keep up to date Safe Operating Procedures for health and safety.
• To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

About the role

We are now seeking to recruit a Membership Coordinator on a contract basis to support at a busy time of growth. This role will suit a candidate who has strong experience in a customer-facing environment (ideally in a membership organisation and/or box office) and is able to use diplomacy in dealing with a variety of different customer groups. The Role: Services Manager

As Services Manager at Addiction Family Support, you will coordinate the development and delivery of our core services – ensuring they run smoothly, meet high standards, and continue to evolve in response to the needs of the people we support.

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Risk Information Officer to join our Health Services, Equity and Improvement Directorate, to sit within the Clinical Services team (consisting of the Specialist Nurse service and Risk Information Service). We deliver a wide range of high-quality services directly to anyone affected by prostate cancer or prostate problems, as well as supporting a range of charity-wide activity.

As Risk Information Officer, you’ll deliver the charity’s Risk Information Service, providing information and support to men at risk of prostate cancer, and their loved ones, via the telephone, email and social media. This is an exciting time to join the team as we anticipate a decision from the National Screening Committee on a prostate cancer screening programme in autumn 2025.

This is a non-clinical role, but you’ll discuss service users’ risk of prostate cancer along the lines of the predominant risk factors (age, ethnicity, family history and BRCA gene status). You’ll also be able to help men make an informed decision about PSA testing by discussing the test’s advantages and limitations and informing them how to access a PSA blood test through their GP. You’ll work closely with the Specialist Nurses to ensure people who need more complex clinical information are supported.

You’ll also discuss the charity’s upcoming TRANSFORM trial and how Prostate Cancer UK is working hard to improve the current landscape and reduce some of the barriers men face around prostate cancer.

You’ll play a key role in developing the Risk Information Service, contributing to conversations and decisions around how to adjust and improve it. You’ll also report back on your work, to help the charity develop its broader understanding of information and support needs when it comes to prostate cancer risk and the PSA blood test.

Reporting into the Clinical Services Senior Officer, you’ll have close and regular contact with assigned Specialist Nurses so that you feel at ease in sharing prostate cancer related information with callers, and in maintaining the boundaries and scope of the service day-to-day. This is a fixed term role until the end of October 2026 covering an internal secondment. 

What we want from you

You’ll be a compassionate and resilient communicator; you may be speaking to callers who may be anxious about their risk of prostate cancer. You’ll be a great listener, hearing callers’ concerns and offering a supportive and empathetic response. Although this is a non-clinical role, a strong understanding of the UK healthcare system and a good working knowledge of urology (for example, an understanding of prostate cancer and the PSA blood test) would be an advantage.

You’ll be comfortable in handling more complex conversations, but with the self-awareness to recognise your limitations in offering support and recognising clear boundaries of guidance being provided and be able to direct to our Specialist Nurses when needed. 

Experience in using a CRM system will be advantageous in this role and any experience with a helpline or providing support or information over the phone will be beneficial.

Service delivery

• Lead the day-to-day management of Ella’s safe houses, and outreach services

• Ensure all caseworkers provide high-quality, holistic support tailored to each woman’s needs

• Ensure casework systems are used consistently and effectively across the team

Our partner seeks a driven and astute grants finance officer to support in the financial management and monitoring of projects being implemented in Asia, Africa and Latin America. This is a newly created position, and will suit someone who is meticulous, has strong attention to detail and able to manage relationships with a number of global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial transactions and entries, prepare and process income receipts and maintain accurate digital records and ensure proper filing of all financial documentation on internal systems.
• Review, verify, and process payments to suppliers and sub-grantees, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and compliant with internal controls.
• Create and close financial grants for codes; monitor and update internal trackers for grant management; track and report balances across active grants and funding streams; and complete grant reconciliations.

The role also includes supporting the Evidence & Insight (E&I) team with the collation of existing evidence,  working with external agencies and partners to support the delivery of targeted E&I projects, developing networks, and horizon scanning across the sector to keep up to date on E&I programmes. The post-holder will have key involvement in supporting the communication of the  E&I team’s work across the charity by developing and coordinating a centralised resource for up-to-date reports, findings, and statistics.  The post holder will also contribute strategically to Evidence & Insight operations and documentation.

About you

OVERVIEW

This role will be a key member of our ambitious team, delivering a growing portfolio of fundraising campaigns, fundraising events, and supporter engagement initiatives. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Campaigns & Income Generation

• Work with the Head of Fundraising to plan and deliver our 12-month supporter journey – including fundraising campaigns (online and offline), events and appeals.
