We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Head of Finance and Resources to lead our financial and operational functions and play a key role in supporting the charity’s mission and long-term sustainability.

As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will oversee finance and facilities, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Immigration Caseworker/Solicitor

The post-holder will provide advice and casework in the category of immigration, nationality and asylum law. This project will focus on casework for domestic violence victims referred by Local Authorities and other partners across London. About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Support coach to join our team which focus on supporting residents with OPD (Offender Personality Disorder) and related cognitive or behavioural challenges, many of whom have experienced institutional care or social exclusion. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the service, acting as a mentor and lead for the team, providing advice and guidance, as well as providing specialist expertise to the team and residents. 

You will further deliver one-to-one support with residents directly, developing personalised support plans, risk assessments, facilitating life skills sessions, and help individuals access services, resources, and opportunities within the community. Our support is tailored towards providing person centred support to empower our residents to achieve their personal goals and independent living. You will be instrumental in creating a safe, flexible, inclusive, and psychologically informed environment that promotes dignity, choice, and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities further Include:

• Delivering effective 1:1 and group-based support for residents/participants in line with support plans
• Providing specialist advice and guidance to the team and residents

Role Requirements

You will play a vital role in coordinating care and supporting the management of the House, serving as a key contact for families and the multidisciplinary team. Collaborating with the House Manager and Placement Managers, you will help ensure that care is effectively planned, resourced, and delivered safely at all times.

You will support the house manager to ensure that the care on house or houses enables the children to access their education and/or rehabilitation sessions, clinics, and leisure activities in their timetable.

You will work as part of a leadership team comprising of a house manager, deputy house manager / deputy clinical lead and a clinical lead (per house) responsible for one or two houses within a rotational model. You will individually (not as a team) rotate at a house level on a twelve-monthly basis.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

The Operations Manager is a key role within the team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the SLG’s three sites: the Main Gallery, the Fire Station and Art Block. This includes managing the maintenance and upkeep of the SLG’s Grade II listed buildings and artist-designed gardens, as well as leading the Front of House team to ensure that the SLG provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors and a high quality of visitor experience. 

The Operations Manager works closely with the Deputy Director and manages a team comprising two Operations Supervisors, the Gallery Technician and contracted and casual Front of House staff and Cleaners. Fundraising

• Research, plan and draft compelling grant and funding applications.

You’ll maintain accurate records, manage income and expenditure across multiple platforms, support our Director of Finance and Operations with budget monitoring, and help ensure our processes are robust and efficient. This role is ideal for someone with experience in charity or SME finance who wants to balance meaningful work with flexible working.

• Financial Management and Bookkeeping

• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of all income and expenditure, including reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, petty cash, and restricted funds.
• Process sales invoices, accounts receivable, and income from multiple platforms (Stripe, GoCardless, PayPal, Fundraise Up, etc.).
• Manage accounts payable including invoice approval workflows, payment runs, and supplier records.

• Reporting and Analysis

• Produce and circulate weekly budget holder reports, resolving any variances or queries.
• Support the Director of Finance and Operations with quarterly management accounts, budget monitoring, and preparation for year-end processes and audits.
• Assist with reconciliation of the balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, including prepayments, accruals, and deferred income.

• Gift Aid and Compliance

• Submit Gift Aid claims to HMRC and ensure accurate record-keeping in line with charity policy.
• Maintain and update restricted income records and allocation files, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

• Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the main finance contact across departments, supporting budget holders with financial queries.
• Provide finance induction and support to new starters.
• Support the Fundraising and Family Support teams on event finance (cash handling, floats, expense processing, reconciliation).
• Confidently communicate with internal and external stakeholders including budget holders, suppliers, and auditors.

• Systems, Processes and Improvements

• Champion effective financial controls, help embed a culture of strong financial management, and continuously improve finance systems and processes.
• Ensure secure and well-organised storage of financial records, in line with retention policies.
• Support and supervise the Finance Assistant, including line management, development, and training as needed.

• Other

• Provide ad hoc financial support to the Director of Finance and Operations.
• Be adaptable and open to change in line with the charity’s strategic growth and development plans.

About the Youth Endowment Fund

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

The evaluation team designs and implements the processes which assess the evidence for the fund’s various funding rounds. The team is also responsible for assessing, appointing, monitoring and the quality assurance of complex and rigorous impact evaluations from experts in the field.

As an integral member of our evaluation team, you will be part of making sure we make the best decisions about what we fund, design and execute the evaluations to learn from it about what works to prevent youth violence.

Key Responsibilities

The core of your job is to ensure that we commission and deliver high-quality evaluations so that we can find out the very best ways to prevent young people and children from becoming involved in violence.

As an Evaluation Manager, you will:

· Support the evaluation team to design and implement the processes for assessing the quality of evidence underpinning applications organisations make for funding.

· Provide recommendations on which applications should be approved for funding based on your assessment.

· Choose the best evaluation partner for each project.

· Lead the development of the evaluation design with grantees and evaluators.

· Review regular monitoring reports from evaluators and provide approval for payments, making sure their milestones are effectively achieved, and the work stays on budget.

· Serve as the main point of contact for the evaluation partner, providing a rigorous review and feedback on the report and ensuring that it is an accurate reflection of the learnings from the project.

· Support the evaluation team in the development of the principles and protocols we need to deliver robust and respected evaluations.

About you

You’re this sort of person who is:

· Experienced in evaluation: You have a strong knowledge and technical expertise in evaluation methodologies, including the ability to critically appraise the design of randomised control trials and related approaches.

· Really know what makes great research and quality evidence:  You can design and draft high-quality research proposals including the sample, measurement and analysis. You’re confident in assessing the quality of evidence that underpins interventions and can guide decisions on grant applications.

· An excellent communicator:You can produce technical documents that accurately report methodological and statistical information. You will combine this with experience of communicating complex evidence and analysis in a simple and accessible format to non-experts.

· Highly organised and likes working in a team:  You have excellent project and time management skills with the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. You’re a valuable addition to any team by supporting others and working collaboratively. You’re flexible and able to work on your own initiative.

You may have, but they are not essential:

· Good knowledge and understanding of crime, serious violence or other relevant areas: This could include areas such as child development, parenting or children’s mental health from fields such as psychology, neuroscience or education research.

· Experience of commissioning evaluation or designing your own research: This includes managing research and analysis from external contractors. Experience designing and carrying out your own research would be an asset, as would experience in the ethical review process.

· Great quantitative analysis skills: This includes experience using advanced analytical software such as R, Stata or SPSS

· Knowledge and understanding of intervention and prevention science

· Knowledge and experience of evidence synthesis: You know the different approaches and have carried out your own evidence synthesis projects.

Hybrid Working Details 

The office is based in Central London. Those living in and around London are expected to be in the office for a minimum of 2 days per week. If you live outside of London and work remotely, you’ll be expected to work from the London office 2 days per month.
