About the role:

The Specialist Housing Advocate will work within a dynamic, fast paced team to provide intervention, advocacy and support that empowers women and ensures that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. This is a new and exciting service, and we are looking for someone passionate about ensuring that all survivors of domestic abuse are able to access safe and appropriate accommodation which meets their needs.

To be successful as Specialist Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on survivors and their children, and of best practice within the domestic abuse and housing sectors. You will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. The post holder will hold a caseload of survivors and will also be required to support Advance’s duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.

The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) is a charity that represents the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential.

This is an exciting new role for the BDA, which has been created with the purpose of recruiting, managing and supporting regional volunteers, leading specific outreach to groups impacted and disadvantaged by dyslexia and resulting life circumstances. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Sport Team. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Opportunities Programme as Sports Manager. In this role, you will play a vital role in overseeing our in-house and community-based Sport Project. Your aim: To help make physical activity accessible to those experiencing homelessness.

About the role:

As the Sports Manager, you will be responsible for The Sport Project. You will be overseeing the day to day running of the project and management of the team including Sports Coordinators, freelancers, volunteers, and peers. You will be leading on expanding the reach of the project, forming partnerships with like-minded organisation and charities and advocating for the importance of physical activity within the homeless sector.

In your role, you will also manage relationships for grant givers and funders, including being responsible for budgets, reporting and reconciliations. Additionally you will support the team in the wider role out of the project across the homelessness community, at time this may involve helping to deliver a proportion of physical activity and helping to engage wider groups of participants and staff.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships with external partners and helping to make physical activity accessible.

The Participation Manager will work with children, young people and adults who are or have been missing, including those who may have been exploited, and the families of people who are missing, in co-production of the charity’s work. The Margins Project, Union Chapel’s Frontline charity, work with people who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness and helps address pertinent social justice issues these communities face.

The charity runs three integrated programmes:

• a community drop-in programme providing access to nutritious hot meals, and limited access to showers & laundry services.

• advice and engagement programme providing one-to-one as well as group advice service on benefits and housing, and onward referrals to pertinent services.

• support employment programme offers a paid catering training to 10 people who have had experience of homelessness, substance misuse, mental ill-health, and or imprisonment.

Our range of services are designed to help guests (service users) at varying stages, from having no roof over their head to getting back into employment.

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced adviser to help shape and evolve Margins services. Experiences on the ground at the drop-in programme inform the charity’s strategic direction. The role will involve expanding our partner network to link into pertinent statutory and other charitable organisations that provide services that will help our guests with their housing, substance misuse, recidivism, and mental health challenges.

We work closely with people on an individual case work basis to get guests off the streets, into hostels or temporary accommodation where possible, and work with private and social landlords on a range of issues. We support and represent the people we work with on the phone and in person, including at the council, the doctors, the job centre, and benefits tribunals.

Our drop-ins run on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am to 1:00pm where attendance is currently from 65 to 75 guests. The advice and engagement worker works more intensively with smaller numbers of up to 20. The demand for more follow up work and advocacy support has been increasing over the last two years and this in-house advice worker is critical for this demand.

Working collaboratively with the Drop-in Community worker (currently vacant), the head chef, and a small group of dedicated volunteers, you will be responsible for the support of a caseload of guests, some with complex needs, and will undertake key work responsibilities including registering the guests, identifying their housing, benefit and personal needs and conducting all necessary follow ups including occasional advocacy support, where deemed necessary.

• To develop significant contact and liaison with comparable housing and benefits advice organisations.

• To encourage guests engage with Margins activities, and where practicable, with the wider Union Chapel activities.

The Advice and Engagement Worker will have an active role in identifying and engaging guests as well as referring potential candidates to the Supported Employment Programme, a programme anticipated to expand beyond its current services in Margins catering.

Location: The post holder will have a normal place of work in Hampton Hill, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and will be required to travel throughout the borough to support our other offices and outreach venues.

Citizens Advice Richmond (CAR) is a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 5,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 17 paid staff and 75 volunteers. Rowan Alba works to end homelessness in Edinburgh by providing permanent supported homes and building relationships with individuals in crisis. Galop, the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, is seeking a Survivor Engagement Manager. Galop works directly with thousands of LGBT+ people who have experienced abuse and violence every year. We specialise in supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse including honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and so-called conversion therapies. We are a service run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people, and the needs of our community are at the centre of what we do. We are person-centred, empowerment-based, and trauma- informed – meaning our focus is always on helping our clients decide what is best for them, and then supporting them through their journey.

We are looking to recruit a Survivor Engagement Manager. This new role will lead the development of Galop’s approach to survivor engagement, ensuring that LGBT+ survivors are at the centre of all of our work. This role combines the need for a strategic outlook, alongside practical frontline skills in working with those who have experienced trauma. You will be experienced in managing complex projects that centre survivors and juggling competing priorities. You will be a team player who is able to work collaboratively across the organisation, including staff, volunteers and trustees, bringing people together to make change. Anti-oppression and a clear understanding power and power dynamics will be at the heart of your practice, designing processes, systems and projects with the most marginalised within our community in mind.

We are looking for someone with experience of trauma-informed practice and who seeks to empower those that they are working with. You will have excellent influencing skills and be able to bring together groups of people to make change for LGBT+ survivors.You will be responsible for:

- Working collaboratively across Galop teams to embed survivor engagement across the organisation
- Development of Expert by Experience group(s), ensuring structures are in place to ensure to diverse LGBT+ survivors can engage with and lead this work
- Co-designing and delivering a programme of activities with and for LGBT+ survivors in line with Galop’s survivor engagement strategy
- Developing and implementing robust monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure that Galop is able to assess the effectiveness of the work and demonstrate the difference it is making.
- Working with Galop’s policy, research and comms teams to ensure that Survivor voices are at the centre of our external work
- Working with Galop’s services team to ensure survivors are at the centre of the design, development and delivery of services.

You will work closely with the Director of Development to:

- Develop and implement Galop’s Survivor Engagement Strategy, ensuring that survivor voice is at the centre of Galop’s work
- Build effective external relationships, including with funders, commissioners and partner organisations.
- Manage the Survivor Engagement budget
