The post-holder will join our thriving Advice and Guidance department which comprises of Helpline, Advice and Guidance Officers and an Education Appeals team. Key responsibilities of our Money Advice Worker will include:
- Carrying out client assessments and formulate action plans aimed at maximising their income and minimising their debts

- Assisting clients with basic debt advice and help them talk to creditors, debt recovery agencies, fines officials, benefit deduction orders, the child maintenance service and other like bodies
- Assisting clients to open bank accounts and reactivate dormant accounts where appropriate
- Assisting clients to assess their pension entitlements via the BR19 service
- Assisting clients to recover any outstanding assets due to them
- Assisting clients by performing ‘better off calculations’ so that they can tell how much they need to earn or earn and claim in order to make employment economically viable
- Identify with clients when this level of Money Advice is insufficient and refer to appropriate alternative services
Our ideal Money Advice Worker will have the following skills, experience, and knowledge:
Experience
- Experience of delivering money advice on a one to one level
- Experience of working with people who exhibit challenging behavior
- Experience of working with and referring to partner agencies
- Experience of devising and monitoring personalized action plans with clients

Knowledge

The Mental Health Advice Caseworker will be working from home during the pandemic. However once the pandemic is over, the candidate will be based at the HFEH Mind office in Ealing for approximately three days per week. You should have excellent negotiation skills, as well as knowledge of the local area and its population (or a willingness to learn). About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to manage and develop Solace’s Therapeutic, Advice and Rape Crisis services. You will lead a diverse team of dedicated managers, working closely with staff teams and the senior managers across the organisation. We are responsive to the needs of our service users and continuously seeking ways to improve our services.
A key function of the role is to develop and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally with our VAWG partners and commissioners.
You will be a member of the wider Senior Management Team within Solace, where you will contribute to the strategic planning of the organisation.
About the Service
The Head of VAWG and Advice Services will have overall management responsibility for our Therapeutic, Advice and Rape Crisis services.
Therapeutic Services: Our 1-1 counselling, group work and specialist holistic therapies help women recover after experiencing traumatic abuse.
Advice: Our Advice service offers specialist short term support to women affected by domestic and sexual violence living in London.
Rape Crisis: Our North London rape crisis service offers a range of services to women and girls who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives.
About You
A solid background in safeguarding and a thorough understanding of trauma informed practices is essential. You will have significant demonstrable experience of managing similar VAWG services across multiple locations.
A strong commitment to understanding intersectionality and ensuring that the voice of the service user is valued and embedded into service provision is essential.
You will have the ability to drive our practices forward, including introducing new ways of working in order to maximise service offer. You will be a strong leader who can manage a variety of complex services and budgets. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to build strong and effective working relationships with managers and staff.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, be flexible and have an appetite to learn new skills in a fast-growing charity.

deafPLUS is seeking an Information, Advice and Advocacy Caseworker to provide advice in British Sign Language (BSL) to d/Deaf and hard of hearing people living in the London boroughs of Hackney and Tower Hamlets., enabling them to understand their rights and responsibilities, access what they are entitled to, and help resolve their problems.
If you:
- have great organisational and interpersonal skills
- have experience of giving social welfare advice or similar (in either a paid or unpaid capacity)
- have great communication skills

We are looking for an experienced part time Helpline Officer to join our thriving team. The Helpline provides a first point of contact for families, carers, young people and professionals, taking a child centred approach in providing information, guidance, signposting and referrals. Working alongside other Advice and Guidance teams and our internal specialists there will be some casework including DLA and PIP claims and appeals, and education plans and complaints.
The Helpline is available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm by phone, text, email, web chat and BSL video relay interpreting. You will work 18 hours over three agreed days.
You will have excellent communication and listening skills and experience of providing accessible rights based information and advice to members of the public. You will have experience of advising on disability related issues, including benefits and education (SEN), via phone, email and other digital channels. The successful candidate will receive a full induction and training, including deaf awareness and British Sign Language (BSL) along with continuous learning and development opportunities.
