Live Well with Hearing Loss is a three year project funded by the Welsh Government under the Sustainable Social Services Grant which started in April 2020. The project has three strands, the At Home Service, the Befriending Service and the Post Diagnostic Service.
The Post Diagnostic service gives early intervention support to those who are newly diagnosed with hearing loss. The Post Diagnostic Adviser will share tips and strategies and demonstrate equipment over 3 sessions to facilitate independence and wellbeing. The service is delivered within the Audiology clinic at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, but due to COVID-19 is currently offered remotely.
Communication is a basic human need. Yet most of us know someone who struggles to communicate through hearing loss. It can cause substantial harm to friendships, family relationships, confidence, employability, mental health and life chances.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Cardiff Women's Aid, this fantastic charity are working to prevent and respond to domestic and sexual violence and all other forms of violence against women and girls. The IPA will need to provide a high-quality frontline service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse and wider VAWDASV issues. Delivering a range of crisis intervention, early intervention and prevention work, intensive support, and accommodation-based support. Please note the service is 24/7 so we need people who can and will work outside normal office hours.
Due to the sensitive nature of the charity’s work this vacancy is open to women only (exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).
Key responsibilities
Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users using the CWA specialist intervention toolkit.
Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information in relation to legal options, housing, health, finance and recovery.
Help maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contribute to monitoring information for the service.
Comply with GDPR/data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.
Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.
Out of hours responsibilities not limited to:
Answering calls coming into the service
Responding to police call outs within the hour.
Contacting all referrals in a timely manner.
Attending the Intake and Assessment facility when a new resident access accommodation.
Completing an assessment of risk and need with all referrals.
Person responsibilities
Have a good understanding of domestic violence/ abuse including the impact of domestic violence/ abuse on victims and their children.
Have theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.
Understand child protection issues, how to respond to effectively safeguard, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic violence/ abuse and their children.
Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.

About this job
The Evidence Officer’s key responsibilities will include analysing regional and national data and evaluating different MS service models, to support innovation and service improvement across the UK.
You will distil and translate data and evidence into usable and engaging formats for internal or external audiences.
You will have a detailed understanding of a range of research methodologies, and a proven ability to apply them in answering complex research questions.

The Amber Project provides help and support to young people (12-25) who have experience of self harm. We can offer help in a number of different ways including counselling, Friday evening workshops, theatre workshops, and informal support. We are totally inclusive and work with children and young people from all faiths and no faith, and this diversity is reflected in our team.
We provide Activity Based Workshops, Theatre Workshops, Counselling and One to One Support. Our workshops open to young people aged 12 to 17 years, and 17 to 25 years, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion. Activities can include music workshops, cooking, trips, arts & craft, and group discussions.
As a part time Support Worker, covering maternity leave you will be working with young people aged 12-25 years old who have experience of self-harm. You will play a key role in providing them with one to one support and advocacy both on a one-to-one basis and within a group setting; working with them to develop their emotional skills which will allow them to cope more effectively with the difficulties in their lives. The nature of the work means role, and successful candidate, must focus on inclusivity for the young people.
The successful candidate will have considerable experience in working with young people aged 12-25 and will enjoy the challenge of working with adolescents in difficult circumstances. You will need to be able to work within a non-discriminatory framework, ensuring the services are provided in a qualitative, responsive and accessible manner. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you will need to be able to engage in remote working, connecting with the young people by phone and video-conferencing.
