Summary of Role

Work in collaboration with the Head of Service to manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Foodbank. You will manage and support a team of volunteers, leading by example to ensure the Foodbank operates smoothly and the continuity of delivery standards within the guidelines of EFB policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working or volunteering in a Foodbank. They will be a strong leader and be hard-working, organised, collaborative and confident. They must be passionate about tackling poverty, deprivation and injustice and have a non-judgemental and positive attitude towards people who require support.

About the role 

We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Bid Manager who can actively craft commercial tender submissions and work with the team to ensure we submit high-quality, winning bids within UK government procurement rules.

You will sit in the Business and Strategy directorate and lead bid-writing across the organisation, line-managing a team of Bid Writers and working closely with other colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Operations.

This position is a full-time, 35 hours a week, permanent contract with a starting salary between £44,500 - £50,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. We are open to a conversation about flexible working or job sharing. Whilst the role is home-based, some travel for team meetings will be required.

Through your bid management expertise you will proactively manage the workload of the bid-team, balancing known pipeline opportunities and the unknown tenders issued, ensuring capacity to bid on rewins and make the most of the new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Retention

• Administer the recruitment process by placing job adverts into the template on Canva, removing expired job adverts from the THET website; downloading applications; setting up interviews
• Update staff induction materials
• Update the Organisational Organogram on a monthly basis
• Update staff profiles on the THET website
• Maintain internal HR email/In-box
• Ensure new starters are added to the relevant induction meetings and staff meetings

Development & Performance

• Provide induction and refresher training to staff and volunteers on international travel
• Monitor implementation of staff training and development plans

Policies and procedures

• Follow THET policies and procedures, flagging any issues arising
• Update control sheet for policy review dates and maintain version control numbers for policies and forms

Administration

• Provide administrative support to the CEO and SMT
• Update and maintain the Activ absence system: – Create user accounts for new staff/ archive leavers; monitor staff absences
• Administer travel arrangements within the UK and overseas for senior managers
• Oversee and improve standard operating procedures and forms
• Support the HR & Operations Manager with administration of new and current consultants, volunteers, and interns (recruitment, contract reviews, induction, and compliance training schedules)

Operational Support

• Coordinate the procurement process for items and services including approvals, advertising, tender process, preferred supplier contracts, communication to parties
• Undertake office management tasks including responding to THET mail/ calls; arranging and servicing office meetings; maintaining email distribution lists and email accounts
• Facilitate the purchasing of staff IT and other work equipment in line with budget
• Activate email accounts; coordinate laptops for new staff/leavers; open and close IT accounts for starters, and deactivate these for leavers
• Act as the main point of contact for the outsourced IT supplier.

Health and wellbeing

• Prompt Country Directors to ensure Country risk registers are up-to-date and evacuation/hibernation plans exist

Children and Young Person’s Independent Sexual violence Advocate

Position: Children and Young Person’s Independent Sexual violence Advocate (ISVA)

Location: Birmingham/hybrid

Hours: Full and part-time opportunities available. 19 or 30 hours per week, with 1 home working day or 38 hours per week with 2 home working days.

Salary: Untrained ISVA: £29,777 pro rata, accredited ISVA: £31,365 pro rata

The Role

You will provide support as an ISVA for children and young people (CYP). You will offer compassionate, confidential, support to CYP of all genders, who have been subjected to sexual violence and abuse. Some of the work will be providing specialised wrap around support to children and their families where the child has been, or is currently being sexually exploited (CSE support). You will provide information about reporting processes; support CYP who have reported to the police; provide emotional support to CYP when they give their evidence in court and provide information about other options, such as civil action and Criminal Injuries Compensation.

An approved and accredited ISVA qualification is preferable for this post, and will start at the accredited salary rate. However, candidates who demonstrate and live the organisations values (bold-believing-big hearted), and have a willingness to work towards ISVA accreditation will also be considered.

About You

Ideally, you will have previous or current experience within a specialist rape and sexual abuse organisation, supporting children and young people’s (CYP) victims/survivors of sexual violence and abuse.

You will also have experience of:

• Supporting 13-16 year olds, a group at high risk of sexual violence, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and sexual coercion.
• The impacts of sexual violence and abuse
• Working pro-actively, and advocating for adult survivor voices and needs
• Working with a range of agencies
• Child safeguarding issues, child sexual exploitation (CSE), legislation and best practice
• Understanding of the need and ability to maintain professional notes and records of their interactions and interventions with clients

As our Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you'll work alongside other Assistant Directors, contributing to a collaborative, non-hierarchical decision-making environment.

As Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you will provide strategic direction to the heads of Digital campaigning, Community Organising, Policy, Research, and Public Affairs teams.

You'll support the development of high-profile campaigns and drive continual improvement to achieve Shelter's strategic goals.

This role involves building strong relationships across Shelter, promoting collaboration, and acting as a spokesperson when required.

You'll need excellent political instincts, campaign experience, and the ability to oversee the production of high-quality policy and research.

• Develop the project plan and ensure that the right governance structure for project management is in place and RSPB internal project management practices are followed, so that the project stays on track, comes in on budget and risks are identified, escalated, and managed within tolerances.
• Work with local environmental networks to build a picture of nature-based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working.
• Lead on developing ways to evaluate and measure the impact of the project, including engaging with those prescribing and local communities to gather stories and case studies that demonstrate the benefits to wellbeing and connectedness to nature.
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working with nature prescribing and nature and wellbeing across the UK.
• Develop a strategy and plan for Nature and Wellbeing work legacy aiming to learn from the work done in Scotland and England and from the communities and health care professionals in Cardiff and surrounds to support development of future work in Cardiff and beyond.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working within or alongside the health and wellbeing sector.
• Project management experience with experience of leading on and developing and delivering projects with diverse communities.
• Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in delivering workshops or training, ideally with a co-design element.
• Excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate nature and wellbeing messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload.
• Skilled in using Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
