As an Advocacy Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering our advocacy strategy - engaging with grantees, policymakers, and leading experts to influence decisions that matter. Your work will help accelerate action on air quality at international, national, and local levels, and expand the reach and impact of donor funding for clean air initiatives.

Our advocacy spans major global platforms such as COP, G20, and partnerships with multilateral and bilateral donors, UN agencies, and country representatives. We combine direct advocacy with strategic grant-making to amplify voices and drive systemic change.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate and support the smooth delivery of advocacy activities, from coordinating Clean Air Fund’s presence at global events, organising stakeholder engagement and events, to drafting briefings. This includes the potential for travel to global advocacy moments such as COP.
• Manage grantee portfolios, ensuring impactful partnerships and effective onboarding.
• Provide research and analysis to inform strategy and decision-making.
• Keep our team and partners aligned through clear communication and project management.

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent, 35 hours per week

Future Advocacy is looking for a Senior Consultant in Strategic Communications and Advocacy. As a Senior Consultant, you will:

• Lead and contribute to client projects

• Drive forward media relations:
  • Spot news hooks and craft stories that land and secure media coverage 
  • Work on high-impact opinion pieces with our champions

Requirements

• Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills in English

Hopscotch takes pride in working to support women and families facing racial and gender inequity in London. We take our trauma informed practice seriously, both with service users and within the organisation. We also run a successful Homecare service, with Care Workers taking care of vulnerable people in south Camden who draw on care.

This Young People’s Advocate role will give you the chance to be an integral part of our organisation. You will be working with the VAWG team to deliver positive masculinity workshops in Camden Schools. You will be engaging with boys and girls aged 12-17 years and to enable them their improved understanding of masculinity.

This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with a strong campaigning background to work for one of the UK’s leading rights NGOs. Campaigns

• Develop and execute quarterly campaigns plans to manage and schedule relevant advocacy, policy and research work to further our strategic aims

• Co-ordinate a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team to pursue campaign goals

• Identify advocacy and press opportunities to further campaign aims

• Strategise/oversee development of campaign materials & engaging supporter actions 

• Promote Big Brother Watch’s campaigns in the media, writing articles and giving quotes/live interviews to press and for our social media channels

• Uphold Big Brother Watch’s reputational excellence in public fora 

• Work with Director to periodically set campaign priorities in our organisational strategy

• Communicate complex issues to varied audiences, whether parliament, press or public; whether through traditional means (e.g. print media) or public stunts and actions

• Build strong relationships with parliamentarians and advisors across all parties

About the Role

As an Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate you will provide pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse through on-going risk assessment, providing individual safety planning, trauma-informed support, guidance, information, and advocacy and enabling victim/survivors to access the services they need in the aftermath of the abuse and trauma they have experienced.

You will work within a hospital setting to support both patients and staff. You will make initial contact with victims of domestic and sexual abuse, explaining our services and assessing the impact of crime, or receive referrals from colleagues, in order to provide on-going support and case management. Support could include empowering the client to report to the police, accessing Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) services, and specialist support such as pretrial therapy and sexual violence counselling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess risks and needs using evidence-based checklists.
• Focus on high-risk cases with short to medium-term crisis intervention.
• Assist high-risk victims in accessing safety services.
• Deliver tailored support and information.

About You:

BACKGROUND

Ashiana started operating in 1989 and specialises in helping young women, aged 16 - 35 years, from South Asian, Middle Eastern & Iranian communities who are at risk of domestic violence and sexual violence.

OUR SERVICES

Ashiana runs three refuges with a total of 29 bed-spaces; specifically for women aged 16-35 fleeing forced marriage. This multi award winning project is the only service of its kind in the UK and is highly innovative in terms of addressing an area of significant need not met in other refuge provision. Within these refuges we designate a number of bedspaces for women with no recourse to public funds. We offer an advice and support service to women and girls who are experiencing VAWG (Violence against Women & Girls), enabling them to make informed decisions and exit abusive relationships. We provide counselling for women and girls affected by domestic violence and sexual violence. We also deliver an immigration service to women who have insecure immigration status with the aim to support them with access to specialist legal advice in order to resolve their immigration status. .. We deliver harmful practices training to professionals from the statutory and voluntary sector in addition to awareness raising workshops for women and girls in the community.

PRIMARY TASK

To be responsible, alongside the Management Committee, the Senior Management Team and other workers for the effective running of the Project, in accordance with Management Policy. Ensuring that it meets the needs of South Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish women and girls who have been made homeless as a result of VAWG (Violence against Women & Girls).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (negotiable and could be job share).

Contract: Fixed-term until 31.03.27.

Location: Hertfordshire - Working from home with options to work within local authority co-located spaces and expectations that there will be regular travel across the county to SafeLives offices in London & Bristol plus other locations across the UK as required.

SafeLives have been commissioned to facilitate the Partnership’s Co-Production Panel and support the development of a network of survivors with lived experience of domestic abuse in Hertfordshire, through their Authentic Voice practice model.

Key purpose of role:

• To truly transform the response to domestic abuse, we must place the experience of survivors at the heart of everything we do.
• Supporting the organisational commitment of SafeLives, and that of the Partnership, to Authentic Voice.
• Working within the Innovation team and alongside the Partnership to develop an influential panel, a powerful approach to gathering and amplifying survivor voices, challenging ‘them and us’ attitudes, you will have the skills and values to support and engage with survivors of domestic abuse.
• Coordinating the implementation of the Authentic Voice principles, embedding co-creation throughout the work of the Partnership.
• Establishing creative ways to reach out to survivors across Hertfordshire including those who have increased vulnerability or multiple disadvantage, those who are marginalised and others who have not yet found their voice.
• Ensuring all who want to have their voice heard, are heard and that what we learn from their lived experience shapes the response to domestic abuse in Hertfordshire and nationally.
• Demonstrating the value of expertise by experience to influence all stakeholders, breaking down perceptions of ‘them and us’ and uniting voices of experts by experience to keep families safe and end domestic abuse.

We are looking for a dedicated Advocacy Campaigns Manager to join Action Against Hunger UK's Advocacy Department.  This is a great time to join our team as we broaden the reach of our public advocacy campaigns to a wider audience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and delivering our advocacy campaigns strategy and supporting with policy and parliamentary work. Our advocacy and campaigns focus on tackling the key drivers of hunger – conflict, climate change, poverty and inequality – and promoting improved response.

On the campaigns front, this role means spending around three days a week on designing and delivering creative and engaging online campaign actions in collaboration with skilled colleagues across teams, organizing campaign events and building the engagement of chef and food industry supporters in our advocacy. This also requires having a good understanding of the political landscape and opportunities and distilling policy asks into engaging public campaign messaging.

You will also get to spend around two days a week supporting with policy work, such as drafting position papers or letters and working closely with our Head of Advocacy and Parliamentary Relations Manager on MP engagement. The Head of Public Affairs, Policy and Advocacy is responsible for the delivery of the charity’s public affairs and lived experience advocacy strategy. This role is the most senior operational position within a small advocacy function and is accountable for ensuring that agreed strategy is converted into effective, timely and impactful advocacy action by and in support of bereaved families.

The post holder will feed in to overall organisational strategy and will play a critical role in shaping delivery plans, prioritising activity, and personally undertaking significant advocacy work — including drafting letters, briefings, parliamentary questions and amendments, co-ordinating political engagement, and ensuring policy asks are actively advanced within Parliament, government and regulatory processes. The post holder will support and enable bereaved family members to engage in meeting with MPs and Peers and in provision of evidence to committees

The successful candidate will have significant experience in political advocacy or public affairs influencing, with a proven track record of responsibility for delivering policy and political outcomes. You will bring drive and passion to the role, with an empathy for people with lived experience. You will bring experience of hands-on policy delivery and a strong understanding of the UK political system, parliamentary processes and policy-making cycles. You will also have excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, persuasive and politically astute documents.

• Act as a subject matter expert in voice and influence practice and anti-racism, working alongside our Children's Services as a critical friend to support the delivery of excellent and inclusive services.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has:

• At least five years' experience in a role working directly with children and/or young people in a health, social care, education or youth work setting – a youth and community work (or similar) qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Demonstrable knowledge experience of designing, delivering and evaluating strategic voice and influence activities with young people – particularly in online or virtual contexts.
• Knowledge and understanding of the practical application of anti-racist principles and practice.
• Experience of working across complex structures, hierarchies and partnerships, with experience of working with a range of stakeholders at different levels.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate projects, collaboratively and effectively.
• Excellent collaboration, networking and partnership-working skills.

The successful candidate must also:

• Be of African, Asian, Caribbean heritage – this is a genuine occupational requirement, and an essential requirement, as noted above.
• Be able to travel across the UK on a regular basis, including overnight stays – living close to a national rail station and/or airport will be a significant benefit.
• Be able to work flexibly to accommodate direct work with young people outside of 'normal' hour (i.e. evenings and weekends) – for which TOIL can be claimed, or overtime hours in extraordinary circumstances.
