Barnardo's is looking for a Data Analyst with strong Power BI skills and a passion for the charity sector to join our Analytics team within Digital, Data and Technology on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, commencing in September.

The Analytics team is a central function that provides insight, information and data to colleagues across the charity. Our work spans all functional areas and includes interactive reporting, ad-hoc analysis, analytical consultancy and support for data-driven decision making. We use Power BI, traditional statistical techniques, economic theory and advanced data science methods to influence decisions both within Barnardo's and across the wider sector.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping Barnardo's achieve its mission through the responsible use of data and analytics. You will support colleagues across the organisation to make informed, evidence-based decisions while contributing to the ongoing development of our analytical capabilities.

As a Data Analyst, you will:

• Develop and enhance our existing Power BI reporting suite to better meet stakeholder needs.
• Conduct analysis and provide analytical guidance across a wide range of business domains.
• Communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, presenting results clearly and incorporating feedback where appropriate.
• Identify innovative approaches to analysing data and presenting insight to improve the team's capability and impact.
• Support the maintenance and development of high-quality datasets, reports and analytical products.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and best practice within the Analytics team.

We are seeking someone who can quickly build relationships, understand stakeholder requirements and deliver high-quality analytical outputs.

Essential Criteria:

• A minimum of 1 year's experience using Power BI, including:
  • Writing measures and calculated columns.
  • Working with semantic models.
• A minimum of 1 year's experience in an analytical role.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills gained through professional experience and/or higher education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders of varying levels of seniority and technical expertise.
• Experience working within an Agile environment.
• A genuine passion for Barnardo's mission and values.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience working with Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience using programming languages such as Python, R and/or SQL.

Role Summary
We are looking for a Data Analyst to support the analysis and reporting of impact across a portfolio of projects and programmes delivered by a range of our VCSE delivery partners. This is a great opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in data who wants to further develop their analytical and reporting skills within a supportive team, working on
data that demonstrates positive impact on local communities.

Working alongside colleagues across the VCSA, you will help bring together information from different projects, support the production of clear reports and visualisations, and help the organisation understand what its data is telling us about performance and impact. You will be supported to grow into more advanced areas of the role, such as dashboard development, performance frameworks, and presenting to senior stakeholders, as your experience builds.

The VCSA focuses on supporting delivery that benefits marginalised and underserved communities, and is committed to delivering services that are equitable, inclusive, and responsive to lived experience. We are looking for someone who shares this commitment and who will approach data about the people we support with care, respect, and an awareness of the people behind the numbers.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the analysis of data across a portfolio of projects, each with its own objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Carry out quantitative analysis (numbers, figures, statistics) and qualitative analysis (feedback, case studies, survey responses) to help evaluate performance and impact.
• Support the identification of trends, patterns and areas worth exploring further, raising these with colleagues and line management.
• Support the bringing together of data from different sources and systems into clear, consistent formats for reporting.
• Help maintain accurate, well-organised data and flag any quality or consistency issues.
• Support compliance with data protection requirements and organisational policy when collecting, storing, and sharing data.
• Produce clear reports, summaries, and visualisations (using Excel and other tools) for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Work with colleagues across the VCSA to understand their reporting needs and help improve the quality and usefulness of the data collected.
• Contribute to discussions about how the organisation measures performance and impact and support the development of monitoring tools over time.
• Take part in training and development opportunities to build skills in areas such as dashboards, statistical analysis, and stakeholder presentation as the role develops.

We are looking for a collaborative, analytical, and organised Assistant FP&A Analyst to join us. In this role, you will be a key member of our Financial Partnering, Planning & Analysis team that sits within the wider Finance department.

This is a permanent, fully home-based role working 35 hours per week, offering excellent flexibility while keeping you connected to a passionate nationwide directorate.

The Assistant FP&A Analyst plays an important supporting role in contributing to budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and reporting across the Society. You will help ensure we always have a reliable, accurate and well-presented single source of financial truth from which colleagues can make informed decisions.

Your days will be varied and meaningful. Working from home, you will support budgeting and forecasting cycles, maintain templates, and produce regular management account packs and dashboards for our Finance Business Partners and budget holders. You will also help develop intuitive financial tools, contribute to multi-year financial models, and gather operational feedback to drive continuous improvement across our processes. You will be part of a caring and dynamic team that values partnership, accountability, professionalism, and a restless desire to constantly improve.

About you

- Some prior work experience within a Finance team environment.
- Ideally, be a part-qualified accountant (or actively working towards a qualification).

- Confidence using IT systems to streamline processes and reduce manual inputs.
- Strong organisational skills to manage your own workload and meet regular deadlines.
- A collaborative approach to building relationships with remote colleagues.
- The willingness to travel occasionally for team meetings and away days (a few times a year).

Key Responsibilities:

- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support end-to-end delivery of cycles, maintaining templates, timetables, and data collection from budget holders.
- Management Reporting: Produce and maintain regular account packs, dashboards, and reporting tools for Finance Business Partners and budget holders.
- Financial Modelling: Assist the FP&A Manager with multi-year financial models, scenario planning, and trend analysis to inform key assumptions.
- Process Improvement: Gather operational feedback on financial products to streamline workflows and improve data productivity
- Team Collaboration: Partner across the Finance and Assurance Directorate to ensure a consistent, joined-up "single point of truth."
- Compliance & Values: Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with data protection guidelines and role-model the Society’s core values.

Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place on Teams, in the w/c 27th July and w/c 3rd August.
