Head of Programmes is a key role with significant scope to grow as the charity evolves. You’ll lead on the day-to-day delivery of our programmes, including our largest single programme, Maths Circles: a small-group-based maths enrichment programme engaging talented young mathematicians nationwide. You will coordinate a large community of volunteers as well as our in-house team of part-time and freelance staff to deliver an excellent experience for students, parents, tutors and partners.

You will need to be genuinely enthusiastic about using our CRM and Google Sheets to track progress and excited about martialling the charity’s data to communicate clearly with colleagues, partners and trustees. You will take ownership of programme reporting and KPIs, using insights to identify and implement delivery improvements and demonstrate impact.

You will communicate regularly with our diverse community – including speaking directly to young people and parents to resolve issues, recruiting and training education professionals and meeting with partners to organise and manage projects. Beyond programme delivery, you’ll play a crucial part in fundraising, communications, recruitment and planning and will occasionally deputise for the Foundation Director in representing the charity externally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of programme operations
• Drive impact by setting, monitoring and reporting on KPIs (e.g. attendance, retention, satisfaction) whilst sharing insights with partners and funders

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Financial Controller to support the Finance team based at our London office.

This exciting role will lead on all aspects of the finance function, including managing a team of two, overseeing the production of year-end accounts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and auditors, and preparing monthly management accounts for reports to the Senior managers and trustees. Responsibilities also include stewardship of the Foundation’s liquid assets, leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, verifying monthly payroll prepared by HR, and ensuring the efficient operation of the purchase ledger function.

What does the role involve?

• Coordinate across the Foundation and help prepare the annual statutory accounts and all schedules for audit and be the lead liaison with the auditors.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and budgets for review by senior management, providing analysis and other measures of performance.
• Lead on improving processes and systems across all aspects of finance and liaising with the wider organisation to drive these forward.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

• Up to date knowledge of charity financial legislation and best practice

About the role

The key functions of this role are to enable Practical Action to deliver on its strategy of delivering Climate Resilience outcomes through all our work, including in the Zurich Climate Resilience Programme (ZCRP), to ensure that our work is ‘climate risk informed’ and addresses the key drivers of climate vulnerability.

About you

We are seeking a passionate and committed individual, with proven experience of working in interpreting climate data in risk analysis and planning. You will have proven experience in capacity building needs analysis, coordinating and delivering training.

Accountabilities

• To provide expertise in climate risk analysis to ensure that our programming is climate-smart, and risk informed.
• To establish and coordinate the consistent application of inclusive locally led participatory research action approaches to building climate resilience.
• To provide staff with capacity building support and resources on the use of climate data and resilience in our analysis and planning.
• To build and continue technical collaboration with select weather and climate science service providers and participate actively in the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance.

This role will manage end-to-end recruitment activities for a designated directorate including requirements gathering, briefings with hiring managers, setting timelines and milestones, preparing and posting adverts, managing agency briefings, reviewing applications, sitting on interview panels, and then the management of offers and the onboarding administration.

This role will suit someone proactive, and resilient to ambiguity and change, with either an agency or in-house background.

Main Duties:

• Campaign Management: partnering and advising stakeholders on end-to-end recruitment processes including interviews and assessments
• Creating and posting engaging adverts across platforms
• Managing and reporting on campaign metrics and MI, updating the ATS accurately
• Candidate and Manager Experience: Briefing with hiring managers and agency suppliers and partner with managers on skillsets required, route to market, assessments and milestones
• Fully manage end-to-end recruitment activity and administration
• Maintain contact with candidates throughout the campaign (including CV review, interview, and feedback) to ensure a positive experience
• Manage the candidate offer process, maintaining effective communication through offer acceptance, onboarding and notice period
• Ensure a smooth transition from recruitment process into the new starter processes
• Actively promote and embed DEI across your work.

About the role

Reporting in to the Financial Planning & Analysis Lead, the Senior Finance Business Partner (Income) will champion strategic financial insight and support within the Income and Public Engagement Department, driving accurate financial planning, analysis, and reporting for income streams, working closely with fundraising and institutional teams, including the development of funding bids.

The post-holder will enable effective decision making through data-driven insights, ensuring financial sustainability and fosters a mindset that aligns with Christian Aid's strategic objectives

Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Finance Business Partner (Income) include:

• Partner with the Income and Public Engagement team to develop and champion accurate income forecasts, budget plans, and financial models.
• Provide financial insights and challenge assumptions which drive and optimise income generation strategies, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
• Ensure financial reporting for income is accurate, timely, and meets internal and external compliance requirements, including donor regulations.
• Collaborate with fundraising teams to provide financial insights on donor trends, unrestricted vs. restricted income, and return on investment.
• Identify and drive the implementation of improvements in financial processes related to income tracking and reporting.
• Support the development of fundraising bids by providing financial expertise

About you

Who we are looking for

Essential:

• Professional finance qualification.
• Substantial experience in financial business partnering or financial planning and analysis.
• Demonstrable knowledge of income streams such as fundraising, grants, unrestricted/restricted income, and the financial implications of different funding sources. 
• Advanced knowledge of charity sector income streams and financial management.
• Understanding of donor reporting and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of fundraising finance and return on investment analysis.
• Understanding of financial systems and tools (e.g. SUN, Power BI, Excel).
• Highly developed skills in financial analysis, forecasting, and modelling.
• Highly developed skills in business partnering and stakeholder engagement.

Desirable:

• ACCA or CIMA qualified.

Carer Wellbeing Workers provide invaluable services to help improve carers’ resilience and ensure they are supported to maintain their caring roles. They provide tailored information and advice, practical, emotional and planning support, peer opportunities, contingency planning, active listening and through partnership working are pro-active in the identification of carers.

Using experience of working with adults and families, a working knowledge and / or lived experience of social care and health, the postholder will use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to offer carers one-to-one and group support either face to face, via the telephone or using virtual video mediums such as Zoom or MS Teams. 

The role is a mix of remote / homeworking and community venues. You will be expected to be readily able to travel across Adur, Arun and Worthing to deliver carer support and on occasion to venues across the County to attend meetings and training as required.
