Summary of the role:

The Governance & Performance Manager ensures effective organisational governance, performance oversight, and alignment between strategy and delivery.

The postholder is responsible for leading the coordination of governance processes, Board and Committee cycles, organisational performance frameworks, strategic project management and executive reporting. The role ensures that organisational priorities are translated into clear plans, supported by strong metrics and KPIs, tracked effectively, and reported with accuracy, insight, and consistency.

Working closely with the CEO and Leadership Team, the role strengthens accountability, and enables data-driven decision-making through high-quality performance reporting and analysis.

A key focus of the role is to develop and embed an integrated business planning and performance management framework, ensuring alignment between departmental KPIs, strategic objectives, and organisational outcomes.

The Governance and Performance Manager owns design, judgement, quality assurance and insight, whereas the Governance and Performance Officer owns coordination, tracking, records, follow-up and administrative support.

About the Role:

1. Lead the planning and coordination of Board and Committee cycles, including forward planning, agendas, papers, and meeting schedules.
2. Ensure Board and Committee papers are high-quality, timely, and aligned with governance standards.
3. Oversee Board and Committee minute-taking, action tracking, and follow-up to ensure effective implementation of decisions.
4. Develop high-quality, insight-driven performance reports for the CEO, Leadership Team and Board.
5. Provide analysis, trends, and actionable recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
6. Lead the planning, coordination and development of the organisation’s annual report, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, performance data and organisational achievements as well as the timelines of external auditors, trustees and statutory requirements.

About You:

You must currently hold the right to work in the UK. Muslim Aid is not offering sponsorship for this role.

This role operates on a hybrid working basis, with a requirement to work from the office for two/three days per week, and additional days where required to meet organisational needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Degree or equivalent experience in business, management, public administration, or related field.
2. Significant experience in supporting Trustees and Leadership in organisational governance.
3. Significant experience in performance management and organisational reporting.

Build the community of supporters who will sustain Palestine's first and only licensed palliative care service

Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust (BCHT) is a small UK charity supporting the development of specialist palliative and hospice care in Palestine. In August 2023, the service we support became the first licensed palliative care service in Palestine. Since then, its specialist nurses have cared for more than 350 patients and their families and delivered more than 5,000 home visits.

We now need to build the community of supporters who will help secure that service for the future. We are investing in professional fundraising for the first time and are looking for an enthusiastic, relationship-focused Community & Individual Giving Fundraiser to help grow our supporter base, develop community fundraising and increase regular giving.

The opportunity

This is a new role with considerable freedom to shape how BCHT develops community and individual giving. Working closely with Trustees, patrons, volunteers and existing supporters, you will initially focus on Yorkshire and northern England, where BCHT already has networks on which to build.

You will develop relationships with churches, schools, universities, Rotary clubs, community organisations, businesses and individual supporters; help people fundraise for BCHT; develop regular giving; and ensure that our supporters feel connected to the extraordinary work they make possible. You will also help us develop a more systematic approach to supporter communications, digital fundraising, stewardship and volunteer engagement.

This role could be for you if you have experience of community fundraising, individual giving, supporter engagement, marketing or relationship management; are an excellent communicator and natural relationship-builder; enjoy meeting people and are confident speaking to groups; can develop ideas and turn them into practical fundraising activity; can work independently; and want the opportunity to build something rather than simply inherit an established fundraising programme.

Experience of community or individual fundraising, regular giving, working with volunteers, CRM systems, or church, school or faith-community fundraising would be particularly valuable.

You will need to be based in Yorkshire and able and willing to travel regularly throughout the region.

The Membership & Community Coordinator is a new role, created to support the membership functions at Science for Animal Welfare (SciFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA). 

Initially, the role holder will focus on delivering and growing SciFAW’s relaunched membership. They will play a central role in shaping the member experience, ensuring that our membership delivers genuine value and builds a thriving community. 

They will lead the day-to-day delivery of our membership offer across member, supporter and student pathways, creating engaging journeys that attract, retain and inspire people to connect with our work. From onboarding and renewals to member only events, communications and community engagement, they will be the person our members come to know. 

This role sits at the heart of the organisation rather than within a single team. They will work closely with colleagues across science, communications, income generation and operations. This role will work closely with the charities CRM and Office Manager who oversees the administration of memberships, our customer relationship management (CRM) software and data. They will also play an important role in gathering member insight and feeding it back into the ongoing development of our membership proposition. 

This is a highly autonomous and collaborative role. Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and working with colleagues across the organisation, you will translate membership strategy into action, taking ownership of implementation, continuous improvement, member engagement and retention. 

Our charities are small, and our work is often fast paced; as such we are looking for candidates who can work with limited supervision day-to-day and can work on multiple concurrent workstreams.

Membership 

• Implement and promote the new SciFAW membership offering to current, lapsed and prospective members, helping to grow and strengthen the membership community.

• Manage the membership application approval process, including documenting Trustee decisions and administering confirmations and welcome communications.

• Co-ordinate the programme of member-only events alongside our annual conference, working with science staff and conference organisers to design, plan and deliver them. 
• Work with the wider team and external collaborators to develop events and engagement opportunities for students and early-career researchers, including careers-focused content at the annual conference. 
• Contribute to event planning to ensure events are engaging and responsive to member interests and feedback. 
• Work with administrative support colleagues to organise and deliver events, allowing you to focus on member engagement. 
• Provide occasional administrative support for corporate membership and sponsorship activities as required. 

Community and Communications 

• Act as the primary point of contact for members, providing a welcoming, responsive and professional experience. 
• Build strong relationships with members, ensuring they feel valued, connected and engaged with charities missions.

Familiarity in overseeing budgets would be beneficial, as would some knowledge of the trends affecting the voluntary sector, but above all a passion for supporting initiatives that contribute to organisational growth and change will be key to your success in the role.

We are looking for a Housing and Destitution Caseworker to join our small, impactful team and provide or co-ordinate advice on welfare and housing issues to migrants. 

ABOUT US

Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) is a community-based charity providing free legal advice, casework support and holistic support services to refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.

Approximately 50% of the people we support are homeless, and many are experiencing destitution due to precarious immigration status, the No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) restriction or whilst living undocumented in the UK. HMC’s work is informed by our vision of a UK where no one is forced into destitution, exploitation, or vulnerability because of their immigration status.

HMC is currently a small team of 7 employees, including a CEO, Community Manager, Immigration Team Manager, Immigration Caseworker and Access to Justice Coordinator, and an Administrative Support Officer alongside a larger team of up to 60 volunteers.

ABOUT OUR SERVICES

We are based in our office in Stoke Newington, where we provide immigration advice & representation and our housing advice and casework support services. We also offer regular community sessions in a local venue on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. We call these sessions our ‘Wednesday Service’. The Wednesday Service has historically been the heart and soul of HMC, and it continues to play a key role in our service delivery, accessibility and community presence.

Our Wednesday Service is a multi-functioning hub, offering a warm, welcoming and accessible space for:

• Legal advice appointments with HMC advisors and external specialist partners

• Casework appointments with staff and specialist volunteers

• Holistic advocacy appointments delivered by our volunteers

Our team supports an average of 350 people across all our service areas.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Housing and Destitution Caseworker will provide or co-ordinate advice on welfare and housing issues to migrants. This will include people visiting the Wednesday Service or referred by the Immigration Team. The post holder will assist with follow-up casework, and recruit and develop a small volunteer Housing and Destitution Support Team to support with these tasks. The post-holder will work to build partnerships with external specialist advisers, to expand our diagnostic advice provision and support with successful referrals for onward legal challenges.

Main duties

• Provide casework and advocacy support to homeless and destitute migrants regarding housing, and welfare entitlements including asylum support, Children Act and Care Act duties, mainstream benefits and homeless duties.

• Develop and coordinate partnerships with external specialist housing advisors to deliver housing advice and take on cases where able.

• Recruit and induct volunteers to a small Housing and Destitution Support Team and supervise their work.

• Keep up to date with legislation and practical guidance required to support destitute migrants, including attending relevant training sessions.

• Provide training to HMC’s volunteers on housing and destitution issues.

• Make referrals to public law/community care and housing legal representatives for complex casework and legal challenges such as judicial review.

• Identify where visitors need to access mental health or specialist support and escalate safeguarding concerns in line with HMC’s safeguarding procedures.

• Maintain records on all casework, regularly review progress during the casework journey, and ensure that cases are closed when support has ended.

Partnerships

• Develop links and partnerships with other organisations to enable effective joint working.

• Collect information, statistics and case studies on destitute migrants and the issues they face for the purposes of improving service quality and to meet the requirements of funders.

• Contribute case studies and statistical data to relevant policy/strategic legal work carried out by HMC and other partner organisations.

Job Description: Finance Officer

Post Title: Finance Officer

Summary

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day finance of Rainbow Haven. Tasks include managing the day-to-day finance system and records; producing regular and accurate financial reports.

The postholder will work closely with, and report to, the Chief Executive Officer.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Financial support

1. Production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts.

2. Prepare rolling monthly cash flow reports.

3. Manage the organisations different funding streams.

4. Support the payroll process as necessary.

5. Work with the CEO to create finance reports for funders and donors.

6. Work with the CEO to create reports and present financial records to external auditors, the finance committee and TEMCA Board as required.

7. Manage and reconcile bank accounts.

8. Raise and pursue payments of invoices related to income as required.

9. Balance Sheet reconciliation work.

10. Maintaining accurate petty cash, supplier invoices and online payments via the QuickBooks online system.

11. Any other ad hoc duties as required.

General

1. Be an effective member of the team, helping to ensure the smooth running of the centre and its services.

3. Deal with internal and external contacts by managing the info email.

4. Maintain Rainbow Haven’s IT systems, develop new systems that support the work of the organisation, and arrange for IT equipment to be maintained and repaired as needed.

5. Oversee Rainbow Haven’s email and Office 365 systems, working with our IT contractors to ensure our systems are fit for purpose.

6. Work within the organisation’s policies and procedures, and ensure all office and administration work is line with these.

7. Any other ad hoc admin duties as required.

About Rainbow Haven

Rainbow Haven is based in Gorton, Manchester. We are a community service for refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants needing support. We have a weekly open-access advice drop-in session, with follow-on appointments.  At our drop-in sessions we welcome people to our centre and offer advice and information, hot lunches and social/well-being activities.  We offer a range of other well-being, educational and social activities, including classes in digital skills and ESOL and other targeted support to help people into further education or employment; and opportunities for particularly isolated groups such as new mothers, to connect with each other and with relevant professional services. 

Our service users come from many different countries and speak many languages.

We receive funding from a wide range of charitable foundations, from local authorities and through partnerships with other local charities in the sector. 

Rainbow Haven is a project of The East Manchester Community Association (registered charity 1131060).

Our friendly staff team has 10 permanent members.  We also offer short-term ‘Apprentice’ placements so that people new to the country can have a first experience of working in the UK. Help sustain Palestine's first and only licensed palliative care service

Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust (BCHT) is a small UK charity supporting the development of specialist palliative and hospice care in Palestine. In August 2023, the service we support became the first licensed palliative care service in Palestine. Since then, its specialist nurses have cared for more than 350 patients and their families and delivered more than 5,000 home visits.

The service has demonstrated what can be achieved. Our challenge now is to secure its future. We are investing in professional fundraising for the first time and are looking for an experienced Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser to help us build the sustainable income needed to protect and strengthen this pioneering service.

The opportunity

This is an unusually autonomous role in which you will work directly with BCHT's Trustees and colleagues in Palestine. You will take responsibility for developing income from charitable trusts, foundations and grant-making organisations: identifying prospects, developing compelling propositions, preparing high-quality applications and building long-term funder relationships.

We currently raise approximately £60,000-£80,000 each year against a core service requirement of around £150,000. Your initial focus will therefore be sustainability of the existing service, with opportunities subsequently to support its development and growth. Our Year 1 income target for this role is £70,000.

This role could be for you if you have proven experience of successful trusts and foundations fundraising; can demonstrate success in preparing grant applications; write persuasively; can research and develop a strong prospect pipeline; are highly organised; can work independently; and would value the opportunity to use your professional expertise to make a direct and measurable difference.

Experience of healthcare, hospice or palliative care, international development, small charities or faith-based organisations would be useful but is not essential.
