We are seeking two Regional Caseworkers to join our team, one in the Northern Circuit and one in the Northeastern Circuit. This role has a dual focus, combining casework responsibilities with stakeholder management, requiring the successful candidates to build strong relationships and rapport across their assigned circuit. You will also represent Advocate by attending events and delivering information sessions to raise awareness of our services and promote our work.

The main duties of the role

Centre Re-location

IntoUniversity Craigmillar is moving to a new centre location so a large part of this role will be to help the team with this move. This will include:

• To prepare and set-up, with the centre team, the centre space including preparing resources and organising tables and chairs as necessary.

• Moving furniture and building new furniture to furnish the space

• Create  IntoUniversity displays for the centre.

Additional Responsibilities

• To work with your team to plan and with the opportunity to deliver IntoUniversity programmes, including leading a group of 30 secondary students from the front, working with whole classes of primary-aged children and providing occasional one-to-one support.

• The opportunity to  lead delivery of  IntoUniversity programmes effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

• To assist with the organisation and delivery of the Academic Support, FOCUS and Mentoring Programmes.

• To champion diversity and inclusion at all times, referring to the Diversity and Inclusion staff responsibilities guide.

• To work with IntoUniversity Centre Leaders to recruit children and young people to the programme, including after-school Academic Support and FOCUS Weeks.

• To develop educational resources and worksheets for use across all IntoUniversity programmes.

• To ensure compliance with all necessary regulations and legal requirements, including the Children’s Act, Children and Young People (Scotland) Act, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, and legislation and policies related to Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.

Overall Job Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the charity, working closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver our mission and ensure AFK's sustainability and growth. You will lead a team of around 30 staff and volunteers, managing an annual budget of approximately £2 million.
As the visible leader of the organisation, you'll inspire and motivate the team through your presence and engagement. You'll be responsible for building strong team relationships, providing hands-on support when required, and will demonstrate the charity's values in everything you do. Working Relationships
The CEO will maintain close working relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders. You'll work collaboratively with a Board of eight trustees to drive the charity's strategy forward, providing regular updates and ensuring effective governance.
You'll line manage members of the Senior Management Team, ensuring a cohesive and effective leadership group.
Building and nurturing relationships with key funders, partners, and supporters will be essential to the role. You'll act as an ambassador for the charity with AFK’s stakeholders, representing our mission and impact. Developing strong networks within the sector and maintaining meaningful connections with service users will be vital to ensuring the charity remains responsive and relevant to those it serves.
You'll also build visible and accessible connections with the wider staff team through regular communication and engagement across the organisation.
Importantly, this is a hands-on leadership role with a direct portfolio responsibility. In addition to your organisational leadership duties, you will lead and manage one of our core functional areas, whether that is Service Delivery, Fundraising, or Finance and Operations. The Senior Governance Manager is a key role managing and providing all aspects of the governance and secretariat service relevant to the most senior Boards and Committees within the Age UK Group and deputising for the Head of Governance and Legal with respect to duties as Company Secretary.

The role manages a team of 4 Executive Assistant and Governance Officers and 1 Executive Assistant (Chair/CEO) and the ability to line manage this team throughout the Board and Committee governance cycle and on individual projects / tasks, while also providing consistent executive services is key.

This is a very visible role working closely with Trustees and Directors as well as the most senior staff within the Charity, providing advice and support.

We operate a hybrid working model. We offer flexibility on working from home but require the applicant to be in our central London office approximately 4 times per month, in line with meeting schedules. About the Role

In this exciting and newly created role, you will lead the project management of new projects with end-to-end delivery of multiple new Youth Zones. Working closely with colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams, you will ensure every project is delivered effectively, collaboratively and to the highest standards.

You will thrive on managing the detail of individual projects, whilst also maintaining oversight across the whole portfolio of projects at different stages. The role doesn’t have direct reports but requires strong matrix leadership, influencing others to deliver at pace and with accountability.

The Active Recovery Project gives adult survivors of abuse the opportunity to take part in community-based activities. It provides a safe and supportive space for clients to participate in a variety of group activities with others who share or understand their experience and develop peer relationships, resulting in increasing confidence and reduced isolation.

The activities are based on ideas from our members and include water-based activities (such as rowing, canoeing, sailing and kayaking), surfing, trips to community spaces and creative sessions (such as arts and crafts). Activities take place every week. Each activity will last approximately 2.5 hours each. Members can attend the group sessions for up to 18 months.

Job Purpose:

The Practitioner role requires working as part of a small team and they will help prepare and deliver two Active Recovery sessions per week, in Bristol and Somerset. The Somerset group runs on a Tuesday and the Bristol group runs on a Wednesday. During the sessions, the Practitioner will be responsible for using a trauma-informed approach to support clients who become dysregulated or need emotional support.

Principal Tasks:

1. Together with the rest of the Active Recovery team, to provide initial trauma-informed assessment phone calls and/or meetings with potential members as part of the registration process for Active Recovery. This includes assessing need, risk and suitability for the service using a trauma-informed approach.
2. To support the Active Recovery Lead in creating safety plans and tailoring activity sessions where appropriate. These will be informed through relationships with members and the initial assessment phone calls.
3. Support the Active Recovery Lead in planning trauma-informed sessions for members.
4. Support the setting up, delivering and debriefing about activity sessions with members and volunteers. Ensuring members are clear on each session's ground rules and safeguarding processes, using the Member’s Agreement.
5. Provide trauma-informed face-to-face support to members at sessions who may become overwhelmed or require help dealing with flashbacks and dissociation.
6. To support volunteers with safeguarding queries and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, including being the Safeguarding Lead at activity sessions if the Active Recovery Lead is not there and escalating any onward safeguarding referrals and queries to the Southmead Project Designated Safeguarding Lead.
7. Support the Active Recovery Lead with management of volunteers for the project.
8. Develop and maintain an Active Recovery community through email, phone calls, texts and in person.
9. Be the key person in ensuring that members have all the information and resources needed to get to the sessions - building a relationship of trust with members, using Spond, email, texts and calls, creating Canvas, figuring out transport logistics.
10. Support the project’s aim to have the members’ voices at the heart of the project.
11. Contribute to the development of outcome processes in line with the Southmead Project and its funders’ requirements.
12. Maintain positive relationships with partnership organisations for the project.
13. The Practitioner will not have budget responsibility but will ensure that their own personal expenses (mileage/parking) is within the budget for the project, keeping accurate records.
14. Record data accurately and in a timely manner on Oasis.
15. Attend monthly one-to-one line management meetings with the Head of Active Recovery.
16. To attend monthly one-to-one clinical supervision with a Supervisor who is approved by the Southmead Project. Supervision is a requirement of this charity as an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
