Work Location Saint Paul’s Hammersmith
Saint Paul’s is a dynamic church at the centre of our capital city, London. We have a vision to Encounter God and Awaken the City. Our desire is to become a white-hot centre of faith, where people can meet with God and learn what it means to be empowered by His Spirit in their everyday lives. We inspire our congregation to see God’s Kingdon come here on earth as it is in heaven, wherever He has called them to live, work and play their part in awakening our city with the good news of Jesus. If we have any particular emphasis after being a community who honour and seek God’s presence, it’s to empower the emerging generation as we pass on the baton of faith and raise up disciples who will lead and influence in every sphere of society.
The successful candidate will approach the role of Community Pastor with a clear passion and understanding of the theory of change that sits behind our vision. We wholeheartedly believe that as people encounter God, they will then be transformed and able to awaken the city through the power of His Spirit at work in them. This will happen in several ways, and most commonly we expect that the love, kindness and grace demonstrated in and through our various initiatives will provoke an interest in encountering God whatever background or context a person is coming from.

Do you have experience in sharing the love of God and His gospel within diverse urban communities?
Do you have a passion for mission in London?
At London City Mission, we estimate that one in two Londoners, that’s roughly 4.5 million people, are unlikely to hear the gospel in their lifetime. Many of those who have never heard the gospel will be from diverse people groups and faith communities.
We are convinced more than ever that LONDON NEEDS JESUS! And we believe that God’s plan is to reach this city through his church. As a Mission, we are partnering with churches who have a growing passion for reaching out to their neighbourhoods with the good news of Jesus Christ, but who need equipping and building up for this crucial work. This role is, therefore, Church mobilisation role.
We are seeking candidates for a Missionary role who have a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with specific groups of Londoners, but who can also come alongside churches to train and inspire Christian believers to reach their local communities with the hope of the gospel. They will work alongside and equip church volunteers for outreach amongst the people groups in their communities, working as part of an experienced gospel ministry team. They will also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.
These positions are full-time, permanent appointments. Starting salary is £21,720 per annum plus £1,100 per month housing allowance (taxable). Mission housing will be discussed with successful candidates after probation. Targets for personal financial support will be £8,500 for the year 2024.
There is an occupational requirement that the persons appointed be an evangelical Christian. Occupational Requirement provision of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The appointed candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.
