The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.
The role
Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.
About You
You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. You are comfortable and confident with working autonomously, you can articulate and ‘bring to life’ your story through your presentation skills. You also need great listening skills so you can build a picture of what each new corporate partner is looking to achieve by signing up to our cause. Last year the service worked to support over 800 older adults with information and advice on benefits, health, housing and care, and assisted the uptake of nearly £400,000 of previously unclaimed benefits.

The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. This role is primarily focused on delivering our frontline day centre service each week. You will spend around 2-3 days per week frontline as our Duty Manager ensuring the smooth running of the day centre. Reporting directly to the CEO this role is part of a friendly, highly productive and collaborative, dedicated clinical and operational staff team of ten.
It is a varied and senior position that is part time, 3 days per week, and we are happy to discuss how the hours are worked over the week. It’s hybrid, working a minimum of one day per week in our Waterloo office. The salary is £45,000 to £48,000 pro rata, depending on experience.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW etc).
- Have 5+ years PQE, preferably with charity sector/ fund accounting experience.
- Able to demonstrate working independently and as finance lead.

The Marylebone Project is one of the largest women’s hostels in the UK for women affected by homelessness. Those we support are often affected by substance misuse, unemployment, domestic violence, and mental health issues. Whatever their story, we aim for the same ending, self-esteem, employment, and independent living. We do this by providing shelter, education opportunities, spiritual space, and events in a welcoming and secure environment.
The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity within the Project, delivering meaningful activity and EET opportunities for women, giving lots of scope for creativity and development. Within this role you will be required to provide exemplary support to the women we serve, supporting them in their journey to recovery. This role plays an integral part in developing life and employability skills and providing opportunities for involvement and ultimately job procurement. You will gain varied experience developing a revitalised service, one which serves and works with our women.
This role works with all departments of the Marylebone Project, and will develop exciting new relationships with external partners, and creating work and training related opportunities for women. The post sits within our Centre Team.
You will have the opportunity to develop our Meaningful Activity and EET programme a which will really make a difference to women’s lives and have the privilege to see them through their journey into independence.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of teaching, careers advice and/or meaningful activity programme delivery.
- Be passionate and inspirational in their work.
- Possess excellent communication, negotiation and networking skills.
- Be confident in delivering training and support sessions.
- Be willing and able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the women.
Salary
£31,927 per annum
Hours
40 hours per week. You will be placed on a shift-based Rota which includes early shifts, Late shifts and weekend shifts. In general the hours of working will be from 8am-4.30pm.
Working hours and rotas are subject to change by the organisation as required, based on operational/service need, though we try not to do this frequently. Some flexibility in working hours is expected.
Pension
The employee will be enrolled into a pension scheme providing the post holder meets the criteria for eligibility. Minimum pension contributions will be paid by the employer for you if you are eligible.
Annual Leave
28 days per year, inclusive of bank holidays. Rising by 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays.
As the Project is 24/7, this role will require some evening, weekend and bank holiday working, as per service need

DBS
An enhanced DBS check required and compliance with Church Army’s safeguarding policies. Safeguarding training will be required.
Occupational Requirement
Due to the responsibilities of the role, there is an occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder is female.
The Marylebone Project is based over two sites, 100m apart, up to 7 floors, and the job regularly involves walking throughout and between both sites. The postholder must be able to access all areas of the Project, and may be required to do so quickly in the event of an emergency. There is also a requirement to travel across London for work related purposes. The ability to undertake these physical aspects of the role and to carry smaller items are required as essential.

The Director of Corporate Services opportunity is a pivotal position overseeing Finance and Procurement as well as outsourced HR & IT. You will be joining the charity at a time of transformation, supporting in the delivery of a new strategy focussing on the delivery of core programmes for Lumos globally. - Lead and develop the Finance department

About You

We are looking for a Head of Risk Management and Insurance to join RBLs Legal and Assurance team to work closely with the Chief Finance Officer, Executive Board, senior leaders and Trustees on the risk strategy for RBL.
In the key role, you will help our organisation to comply with our legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements regarding all areas of risk management and insurance, and you will ensure RBL has in place sound and integrated policies, procedures and structures throughout.
Day to day you will manage the interface between Trustees, senior management and risk management arrangements of the organisation, and maintain a high standard of risk reporting, risk management and insurance.
Reporting to our Chief Finance Officer, key responsibilities will include:
- Report to the Audit & Risk Committee, ensuring the Committee has a clear view of RBLs risk exposures and the effectiveness of the risk management model
- Provide the Trustees and Executive Directors with assurance, support and information to enable them to comply with Charity Commission requirements regarding risk management
- Provide the Director General and Executive Board with regular risk management information and lead our business continuity planning.
- Manage the relationships with leaders across the organisation to understand issues and identify areas for improvement of risk management and insurance
- Consider annually the suitability of the insurance portfolio, and advise and support RBL and subsidiaries on its insurance portfolio
- Manage and support the Insurance & Risk Advisor
