About the role
In order to reach and support more kinship carers with these programmes and our other services, we have developed a new Marketing Team to develop and deliver integrated, strategic and creative marketing and engagement campaigns and strategies. This team is now established with clear plans to engage kinship carer audiences, rooted in insights.
Strategic engagement with professionals from the education sector as a conduit to engage kinship carers in our services offer is a key part of this role, and a relatively new area of focus for Kinship. Delivering against a strategic plan already in place, you will be managing relationships and marketing approaches to Virtual Schools, select Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) and other education professionals through umbrella bodies and associations to execute this.
Who we're looking for
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, senior-level marketeer or engagement professional with a strong track record in further developing and delivering successful multi-channel marketing strategies targeted at a range of audiences to join us as a Head of Marketing and Strategic Engagement to oversee this team. Experience in working in the education sector, or an engagement role would be advantageous.
We’re looking for someone excited to hit the ground running, able to plan strategically, deliver operationally and take creative approaches to maximising engagement and acquisition with a small in-house team. A strategic thinker and natural collaborator, you’ll be able to work across the organisation to further develop integrated marketing across Kinship’s services and programmes, and ensure these align with our wider external communications, including to our Kinship Community of more than 12,000 carers.
You will have significant experience in leading marketing teams and have demonstrable experience in delivering successful, engaging marketing and engagement strategies. You’ll be comfortable getting very involved in the operational delivery of our marketing and engagement plans, supporting your team and demonstrating an insight and audience-led approach to both digital and offline marketing, thriving in an environment where you’ll be responsible for overseeing the progress of various strands of marketing activity.
Key responsibilities include:

Using data and market insights, develop and oversee the implementation of high-quality, integrated and strategic marketing and engagement strategies to support Kinship’s awareness, understanding, interest, income generation, engagement and growth amongst key audiences, with a particular focus on marketing our programmes and services.

Develop an expert knowledge of Kinship’s target audiences for marketing its programmes and services to (e.g. kinship carers, local authorities, education sector organisations and professionals) and devise tailored multi-channel marketing activities for different audiences to meet service objectives.

Ensure that all marketing plans and strategies align with, and support, the organisation’s brand strategy.

Lead the ongoing development and delivery of a focused schools engagement campaign and activity through key channels to raise awareness of kinship care within education settings to engage with kinship carers currently unknown to Kinship, including those from under-represented groups.

Work closely with leads for Kinship’s different programmes and services, and in the Business Development, Digital and Communications teams to ensure marketing communications and engagement with key audiences are aligned.

Work in collaboration and co-production with kinship carers and their families to ensure meaningful input and representation in the development of relevant plans and activities.

Drive forward cross-departmental work to further develop the organisation’s email marketing strategic approach.

Contribute to the development of performance indicators for all marketing activities, using these to adjust campaigns to maximise effectiveness and provide regular reporting and analysis.

Line management of a small team.
Essential criteria include:

Significant experience (5+ years) in marketing, with demonstrable success in delivering integrated strategic marketing and/or engagement strategies which met objectives around engagement and acquisition.

Experience in a management role, with line management experience, and accustomed to operating with senior-level colleagues.

Experience of combining marketing and engagement strategies and plans, with experience of stakeholder engagement and management in order to reach a wider audience/consumer/customer.

Extensive experience of project management and delivering ambitious plans on time, to budget and evaluating outcomes.

Significant digital marketing experience strategically and operationally with particular experience in maximising digital marketing tools including email marketing systems and paid and organic social.

Experience using a Content Management System, such as Salesforce and using insights to inform marketing optimisation and planning.

There will be occasional travel required for national team meetings in Richmond. These currently take place 3 times a year and require an overnight stay. The Opportunity:

mySociety is a small, purposeful charity that uses digital tools to help people participate more fully in democracy, make governments and society more transparent, and work together to address big societal challenges. We’re looking for a Digital Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our high-impact, high-volume online services – including WhatDoTheyKnow, FixMyStreet, TheyWorkForYou and WriteToThem.
This is a vital and hands-on role, responsible for making sure these services run smoothly, are compliant with key legal frameworks like GDPR and the Online Safety Act, and that complex user support cases are handled with care and accuracy. Key duties and reponsibilities:
Management Role
· Based on the policies of the charity as defined by the Trustees Board (created Oct 2022 AGM), manage the affairs of the charity with due respect for its heritage, status and independence.
· Within those defined policies, take decisions that allow the development of its business activities, liaising with other Trustees as necessary, and report to the Trustees on a regular basis.
· When necessary, liaise on allocation of duties to other Trustees on a cooperative basis.
· Represent the charity at occasional public events and meetings with collaborative partners and in negotiations, e.g. NICE, ARTP, Sleep Clinics.
· Act as main point of external contact and manage that contact as appropriate.
· Take purchasing decisions within the defined responsibility of the position.
· Modernise and develop the SATA business on as cost efficient basis as possible — goal is generally self-financing.
· Explore business opportunities as appropriate.
· Identify risk, consult with other officers and recommend action for Board decision.
· Finalise move to paperless operation.
Administrative Duties
· Arrange Trustee Board Meetings.

Responsibilities
- Programme Leadership: You will own and continuously evolve the structure, content, and delivery of the Incubator programme.

Job purpose
This is an exciting time to join Action for ME. With developments in research and policy alongside delivering services which are in high demand, you will enjoy working in a fast-paced and continually changing environment. You will be responsible for overseeing operational programme design and delivery, reporting of progress, and measuring the impact of all Action for ME work to improve the lives of people affected by ME. Better meeting their needs today while taking action to secure change for tomorrow. You will also assist the Chief Executive in implementing the organisational strategy, and by adapting and evolving delivery models on the ground. As you will have operational management and oversight for our Healthcare Services and hold the Designated Safeguarding Lead role for the organisation, you will bring considerable services-related experience at a management and leadership level. The Chief Executive will focus predominately on external matters and therefore you must have experience of managing an organisation to achieve high quality programmes with evidenced impact and motivated teams. You will act for the Chief Executive on topics, as agreed, and deputise during their absence.
Key duties
1. Leadership
- Ensure that children and adults with ME are at the heart of everything we do through meaningful engagement and participation to influence all aspects of our work.
- Deputise for the CEO and represent and promote the Charity at national meetings and events.
- Deputise for the CEO during periods of absence, and in relation to specific matters, issues or elements of operation as delegated from time to time by the CEO, ensuring a consistency of approach and decisions aligned with the organisation’s objectives.
- With the CEO and HR Business Partner, lead on implementing the People and Culture Strategy and ensuring our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging plan is achieved.
- To provide support, leadership and coaching to the Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the organisation and development of the Charity.
- Contribute to the development of the overall strategy for Action for ME, ensuring that the best use is made of available resources within agreed priorities. Ensure that agreed strategy is delivered to target and in line with agreed budgets.
- Work closely with the Chief Executive and Trustees to ensure effective reporting to the Board and sub-committees.
2. Operations & management
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Charity ensuring high quality service provision that meets all best practice, legal and regulatory frameworks and internal policies and procedures.
- Hold overall management responsibility for our Healthcare Services including the role of the CQC Nominated Individual, ensuring all regulatory requirements and compliance are met.
- Manage the staff and volunteer team, including holding regular meetings and ensure the efficient running of the office ensuring a culture that supports, inspires and motivates the team while ensuring required standards and quality are met at all times through effective performance management.
- Act as the organisational Designated Safeguarding Lead (children and vulnerable adults), working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Officers, colleagues and the Safeguarding Lead Trustee; facilitate the annual safeguarding audit (led by the Lead Trustee) and ensuring safeguarding standards across the organisation are maintained.
- Contribute to the learning and development of key personnel including coaching support (either directly or through the identification of external coaches) to enhance performance.
- Establish (where not already in place) and maintain a clear performance outcome-focused management system driving positive change and improvement across all teams.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are effectively implemented and kept up-to-date to enable the effective management of operations and support growth.
- Take the lead role for data protection, health and safety, compliance and risk management across the organisation and act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
3. Finance & income generation
- Hold financial leadership responsibility, working closely with the Finance Manager and the Fundraising Director to ensure sustainability for our work.
- Ensure effective financial management with procedures in place which are kept up-to-date and implemented accordingly.
- Provide support and engagement, where appropriate, to actively grow our income.
4. Working with others
- Lead, nurture and develop relationships with key stakeholder groups and partner organisations, both locally and nationally, supporting Action for M.’s place as the ‘go to’ organisation for people affected by ME
- Lead on new business ideas and pilot projects in line with the strategic objectives; with colleagues, develop the business case, identify and manage risks, lead implementation across teams, evaluate success and learning and make recommendations for future development.

- Be proactive in keeping up to date with developments affecting operations and maintain and improve personal competence through continuous professional development.
- Take direction on projects and priorities from the CEO, which may vary from time to time.

Person specification
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven experience in an operations, leadership, or senior management role, ideally within the charity service delivery or healthcare sector, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans that drive organisational growth and reporting that demonstrates impact delivered. If you come from outside a support services background, you must demonstrate sound understanding of the regulatory and best practice requirements related to delivering support and/or healthcare services.
- An understanding of ME and associated/overlapping illnesses, the impact on people affected by it or a commitment and ability to understand the illness and lead services to meet the needs of children and adults with ME
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams, including remote workers, and fostering a supportive workplace culture where change is a constant.
- Safeguarding understanding at a management/decision-making level.
- Proven experience of building and nurturing strong relationships internally and externally at all levels.

About the role
We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.
This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.
You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.
The West Midlands and North Wales regions are areas filled with some of our most committed supporters, but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from Birmingham hospitals and out in the community in North Wales, so building relationships with these teams are a must.
