Who we are:

Muslim Aid is a UK faith-based international development organisation that provides support to communities around the world affected by disasters, conflict, or endemic poverty without regard to their social, religious, or ethnic background. 

Established in 1985, Muslim Aid has facilitated the engagement of the British Muslim and non-Muslim community in support of its work in a variety of ways. Summary of the role:

The Community Fundraising Volunteers Coordinator is to drive and enhance fundraising efforts for Muslim Aid by planning, coordinating, and executing innovative fundraising events and campaigns across regional and national levels. This position involves deep engagement with the Muslim community and various stakeholders to maximise fundraising opportunities and achieve financial targets.

The post holder will ensure that all activities adhere to regulatory standards and organisational promises, effectively represent the organisation in public forums and live appeals, and manage productive relationships with external partners to optimise outcomes. Additionally, the post holder supports strategic campaign planning and evaluation, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with legal frameworks. The incumbent is expected to be flexible, with readiness to travel and adapt to unsociable hours as needed to meet the demands of the role.

About the Role

1. Collaborate with the Fundraising team to optimise income through various community and innovative events, meeting agreed financial targets.
2. Possess a thorough understanding of the Muslim community and its key stakeholders.
3. Plan and manage fundraising and promotional events across the region, adapting successful strategies for national implementation. This includes participation in events at schools, businesses, mosques, and with community groups and the general public.
4. To coordinate volunteer involvement nationally, such as fundraising, administration and awareness raising.
5. Cultivates a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising volunteer efforts and assisting volunteers with their interests within the organisation.
6. Be available for national travel at short notice to engage with donors and participants at various community events.

About you :

To be successful in this role:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
2. Experience in building a fundraising portfolio and securing income across a range of fundraising disciplines, especially from universities, mosques and volunteers.
3. Experience of creating and successfully implementing a fundraising strategy.
4. An understanding and awareness of the value of social media and how to maximise the digital fundraising potential.
5. Able to inspire people and to develop long-term relationships, with the gravitas to gain the trust and respect of relevant internal and external stakeholders.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and other grant funders, maintaining a 12-month funding calendar.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

1. Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

2. Experience of creating compelling and concise funding proposals, written documents and reports from a range of information sources, including detailed technical or sector specific information. about the organisation’s work.

The coordinator will be part of this journey of peer-to-peer learning, pilot testing, and discovery. The key responsibilities we entrust you with

Member engagement and Community of Practice

• The Community of Practice is a group of data practitioners from ISEAL community member organisations, who come together to share learning, discuss issues and trends and look at potential innovation based on data and technology.
• Act as the main point of contact for the Data Community of Practice (CoP), scheduling meetings and managing communications on the ISEAL online platform
• Establish and build relationships with Community Members’ data practitioners to understand their current capacities and identify priority topics for cross-learning related to data
• Support in planning outreach to Community Members, using tools such as Salesforce to track participation and identify opportunities to increase engagement in the Data CoP
• Facilitate Community Members’ understanding and self-assessment of relevant data maturity themes and topics
• Support in the design, content development and facilitation of engagement opportunities that feature Member exchange and learning about data
• Support the planning, delivery, and follow-up of Data CoP events

Project support

• Coordinate project processes, including implementing procurement procedures, drafting contracts with consultants (based on ISEAL templates) and maintaining project-related systems
• Support drafting and production of relevant newsletters, website articles, and report sections
• Proof-read, edit, design, and format documents in Word and Powerpoint, using ISEAL templates
• Contribute to outreach to project stakeholders, Community Members, partners & event attendees, answering and directing queries and scheduling appointments and virtual/ in-person meetings

• Assist and participate in discussions related to the data and information management programme

Essential attributes, skills & knowledge

• Experience working in a project support role or data-related role focused on project administration, data and information management, data analysis, and/or stakeholder engagement
• Experience and comfort working with data and digital related subject matter, possibly gained through research, project communications and/or analysis and review of data sets
• Strong organisational skills, and experience with administration, meeting coordination, logistics contracts, budget tracking, etc.
• Good communication skills for partner and external communication and comfortable providing facilitation support (e.g. webinars, workshops etc)

With a renewed, strategic focus on policy, this position will play a leading role in establishing a policy function that will enable us to be the definitive and credible home of student voice at LSE. A function which will become even more important when we enter the second stage of the strategy in 2026, when student voice will become the central strategic focus of the organisation.

Sitting within the broader Student Voice Department (alongside the Advice Team), you would lead a friendly, talented team of four permanent Student Voice Coordinators (SVCs) who together account for all of the Union’s policy, democratic, representation and campaigning work, alongside a part-time member of student staff.

Variety is hard-wired into the role. In addition to overseeing policy and research output, you would be responsible for leading a democratic and governance structure that is so innovative it is currently the source of an international academic study. Accountabilities here would include delivery of our biannual student elections and sector-leading Student Panels.

You would also be responsible for leading on how we support our elected student representatives and campaign groups; and for the Union’s academic representation work.

Given the breadth of work undertaken within the team, expect there to be plenty of opportunities to grow, develop and pick up new skills outside of the main responsibilities of the role.

This role is fast-paced and so you’ll need exceptional organisation and planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once in a calm, effective manner.

The team you will be managing cuts across several areas and contains five people. We’re therefore looking for a confident leader with line management experience who is able to inspire, motivate and develop a talented and ambitious team to reach their full potential.

You will be a kind, supportive leader who cares about the people in their charge, but who also has high standards and that is able to performance manage when needed to ensure the team meets expected standards and delivers expected results.

We are looking for someone with exceptional written and verbal communication skills; an ability to interpret complex information and present it in a concise and accessible manner; and with experience of delivering high quality research and policy output.

With responsibility for leading on several projects, both within the team and cross-organisationally, prior project management experience and knowledge will be important, as will the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Knowledge or prior experience within Higher Education or the student movement would certainly be an advantage, but is not essential and we very much welcome applications from those outside students’ unions who have transferrable skills and a who possess a willingness to learn.

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. They happen across the UK and around the world, both online and in person. Our events add to the impact of our work in tropical medicine and global health, but also raise funds to allow us to continue our work as a charity.

The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. They should be comfortable liaising with venues for meetings space, developing budgets for events, managing logistical aspects of the events programme and setting up new events online and in person.  

Main responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the meetings and events programme meeting its financial and other goals and KPIs under the existing strategy
• Overall responsibility for the delivery of the events with a focus on expanding global reach, supporting careers, and improving the financial position
• Manage events from conception to completion - delivering events to the highest standard to meet their objectives of success – quality and cost effectiveness
• Attend the Meetings and Events Committee, optimising meetings including helping set the agendas, leading discussions, writing minutes, liaising with the Chair
• Assist to identify, appoint, and manage Scientific Chairs, Committees, and Sub Committees to secure event speakers, secure attendees and sponsors.

Job Purpose

BSR events are a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, offering the very latest in science, innovation, research and cases. 

Our events team deliver the award-winning Annual Conference (Manchester 28-30 April 2025) in a hybrid format to c2000 delegates, plus our Case-based conference (Leeds 5-6 Nov, in-person c300 delegates) as well as a programme of celebratory awards. 

The Events Executive works alongside the Events Manager, Digital Events Manager and Head of Events to deliver our events. Working on a range of areas from registration, logistics, being the main point of contact for delegates and liaising with venues and suppliers. This is an exciting role for someone looking to get more exposure to different areas of events and liaise with multiple stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

Event coordination

• Coordinate the registration management process for BSR conferences, including: arranging our registration services, data management and reporting.
• Manage the events inbox, being the main point of contact for delegates for all queries.
• To coordinate networking sessions and taster workshops within annual conference.
• Organise logistical elements including award prizes, abstract poster submissions and processes, arranging site visits, accommodation, travel arrangements and expenses.
• Manage CPD accreditation of events and activities.
• Provide content for webpages and emails to keep delegates informed.
• Input into our event budgets by monitoring progress and providing financial reporting and reconciliation against income and expenditure.

General

• Be a core member of the events team by attending and inputting into all planning meetings, venue site visits and delivery of events onsite.
