You will manage reporting timelines, supporting your colleagues to ensure effective delivery of programme reporting, according to the needs of SOS Children’s Villages UK and external donors. You will provide hands on support for the monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting of programmes, taking a lead role in the development of frameworks that will ensure effective capture of data enabling excellent reporting.

We are embarking on ambitious work around data analysis and research, and any experience you have in these fields will be highly valuable, and the appetite to explore them is essential.

You will be an active participant in networks, both globally and within the UK, contributing to our organisational knowledge on how to better monitor and analyse key areas such as gender and inclusivity within our programmes.

This is a home-based role, with regular travel within the UK as well as some international travel which you must be able to undertake.

The Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) is a charity with a £200m endowment and a mission that matters. We exist to prevent children and young people from becoming involved in violence. We do this by funding great initiatives, finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.

To make this possible, YEF funds a wide range of organisations aiming to prevent young people from becoming involved in violence. This ranges from delivery organisations providing front line services to young people who need it most, evaluators working with those organisations to understand what’s working, research organisations focused on helping us deeply understand the context and problem, organisations supporting us to put this knowledge into practice, and a variety of organisations supporting our team to execute in the most effective way possible. We have several departments commissioning this work to external organisations and a variety of different processes and mechanisms to do so.

As the volume of work we commission increases across our various departments, we’re looking for an experienced individual or team to support ensuring consistency, compliance with our policies and procedures, and training across a number of different teams on best practice.

Key activities  

· Conduct a thorough desk review on YEF policies and guidance, regarding our commissioning and grant management practices across our programmes, evaluation, research and change departments. Interview a subset of individuals to get a sense of their understanding and comfort with the policies. Produce a written report on how this is going, highlighting any areas where we could improve in consistency or best practice.

· Advise the delivery operations team on how they can best support teams to commission effectively, including helping to clarify roles and responsibilities and ongoing training or support needs for teams.

· If needed, suggest revisions to YEF policies, guidance or agreement templates to support greater efficiency, compliance or best practice.

· Conduct a series of trainings across our different departments to ensure staff responsible for commissioning understand YEF’s policies and best practices for distributing and managing the use of public funding.

· Create a set of public facing materials to help external organisations understand YEF policies and processes for applying for funding, as needed.

Deliverables

· Provide a written report on how YEF is doing adhering to its own policies, ensuring consistency in practice across different teams and adhering to best practice.

· Conduct 3-4 training workshops to different YEF teams, taking into account their own commissioning and grant management requirements.

· Conduct regular, informal advising sessions for a subset of individuals responsible for overseeing commissioning across the organisation.

· Produce a set of public facing guidance on YEF commissioning practice relevant for organisations navigating applications for funding.

· As needed, produce revisions to policy, internal guidance, or agreement templates.

Key requirements

· Must have significant experience of commissioning and procurement within an organisation of comparable size, preferably with organisations receiving and distributing public funding.  

· Experience and proven track record working to improve policies, processes and practices within an organisation.

· Experience of charitable grant-making or research work in the UK, either as a grantee, a grant-maker, or a grant evaluator or researcher.

· A strong understanding of UK government guidelines and legal terms and conditions related to grants and contracts for services. This does not mean you need a law degree, but you must be very comfortable understanding and working with a variety of different agreement mechanisms.

· The ability to understand, collate and synthesise complex sets of information and use them to make informed recommendations.

· Ability to work independently, seeking input from relevant team stakeholders throughout.

Desired experience

· Prior experience working with a What Works Centre or other evidence-focused organisation.

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, SE16.  Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to cover parental leave. 

The successful candidate will have accountability for several key areas of operational delivery of BITC’s programmes across England, Scotland and Wales. This role will ensure the high quality and consistency of performance through these aspects of operational delivery and development, working closely with businesses, internal stakeholders and external partners. This role is responsible for leading and managing a high-performing team, delivering programmes and contractual obligations across their patch. The post holder will lead on driving programme/contractual performance (both KPI’s and financial) motivating and inspiring the team.  They will also have responsibility for ensuring continued funding from key partners and securing new income; monitoring and reporting on this important activity as it contributes to BITC's vision within a set geographical area or programme/project areas.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of:

· Managing the delivery of contract and programmes to meet contractual obligations

· Working with business, schools and/or community organisations to create beneficial relationships

· Providing leadership, motivation and development for a dispersed team to achieve excellent results for businesses and beneficiaries

This is a fixed term contract for approximately 10 months to cover parental leave.

The salary level for this role reflects the contractual location and the programme funding.  The salary range is £33,120 to 41,000 per annum (regional) and £36,225 to £44,000 London office based.

What We Do

• Good Law Project is a not-for-profit campaign organisation which uses the law to hold power to account, protect the environment and ensure no one is left behind.

• We had a primary role in overturning the prorogation of Parliament in 2019. We successfully challenged the Government’s operation of a fast track ‘VIP lane’ for awarding lucrative PPE contracts to those with political connections and our campaigning played a key role in the Met Police opening an investigation into Boris  Johnson over the Partygate scandal. In July 2023, we forced the Government to accept that its flagship Net Zero strategy is unlawful and to develop a better plan.

Duties and key responsibilities: 

Office Maintenance

• Oversee the general maintenance of the office.
• Manage office supplies by tracking office inventory and replenishing supplies including kitchen and stationery.
• Ensure the office and meeting rooms are well-maintained.
• Manage Sarcoma UK storage, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
• Liaise with office contractors and service providers to ensure the office runs efficiently.
• Assist with office refurbishments, expansions, and relocations.

Administration

• Be the first point of contact for all enquiries to our telephone switchboard and info@ mailbox, responding in a timely manner to all enquiries and delegating across the team where relevant.
• Manage the daily postal system including opening post and recording donations on the finance spreadsheet.
• Managing deliveries to the office and organising couriers.
• Organise travel and accommodation bookings across the whole charity including fundraising events.
• Organise travel, meetings and staff attendance at events including the British Sarcoma Group conference.
• Make any bookings and arrangements for the team that involve financial transactions, for example booking travel, conferences, training courses, flowers for supporters and event purchases.
• Provide meeting room management, including bookings and catering.
• Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks for other departments when requested e.g. fundraising and information send outs during busy periods or absence.

Health & Safety

• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe working environment in the office. This
• Regular health and safety inspections of the office and workstations.
• Carry out regular DSE tests
• Arranging regular PAT tests
• Cary out fire risk assessments (training will be provided)
• First aid assistance and maintain the first aid supplies (training will be provided)
•  Review and update the health and safety policy.

Other

• Support the operations team when required, this will include finance, database, and HR functions.
• The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

About the Role

Through our range of programmes, we work to inspire and empower young people, whatever their background to succeed in work and life. A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working within a charity that focuses on developing young people from all backgrounds, and will have the experience, knowledge and understanding to drive forward EDI in external facing programmes.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

In addition to the key tasks and responsibilities set out above, all employees at this level are expected to:

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Full time working hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week, normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to our working practices and service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options, including part time, with suitable candidates.

The Role

This is a new role which will be focused on a specific project to initially set up and support our member led Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) task group and subgroups. One of the primary core initiatives will be the delivery of a mentoring scheme for our members with an inclusivity focus.

To be shortlisted for this post, you must have:

• Excellent Project Management skills and experience

• Demonstratable knowledge of the EDI space, leading practises and ideologies

• Previous experience of working with members/volunteers including in an advisory and secretariat capacity.

• An understanding of and preferably experience of managing mentoring schemes.
