We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced support worker to join our Young People Support Team based in Hackney. You will provide client directed, person centred support to help young people achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment, and education. You will assist and collaborate with young people to create and carry out a support plan designed around their needs and aspirations, providing information and inspiration, practical support, innovation, and encouragement. You will have an individual caseload but will work alongside a team of Support Workers, with similar client groups, working to the same principles and goals.

The Role

An exciting opportunity to be part of a LGBT+ support service.The successful candidate will provide effective person-centred support to LGBT+ people living in Causeway’s specialist LGBT+ supported housing.Support clients to achieve tangible progress in areas such as tenancy management, independent living skills and training/education.Support LGBT+ clients to develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence. Equip clients for independent living and move-on to more independent accommodation.Develop support plans with individual clients that reflect their ambitions and aspirations with clear actions for achieving these. Contribute to risk assessment and safeguarding plans. Ensure clients settle into their accommodation and become familiar with the local area. Work closely with the Housing Team to ensure residents are complying with the terms of their occupancy agreements. Contribute to client involvement within the LGBT+ supported housing service. Be aware of trauma informed working, particularly with regard to trauma experienced by LGBT+ people. Ensure clients are linked into appropriate support services and sustain engagement with services.

Crisis House is a community-based crisis service, working to a recovery model with the aim to reduce the amount of A&E and Hospital admissions through evidence-based CBT interventions. Additionally, we offer a range of services for people with mental ill health to become more connected to their local community, building on their social engagement. To make this vision a reality we need an outstanding Youth Team Manager to join us on an interim basis of 12 months. As an experienced manager of a youth team provision or experienced youth worker, you will be passionate about driving excellence and facilitating young people to develop their talents.

Praxis has recently significantly scaled up its campaigns and communications work. We are looking for a new Stories and Media Coordinator to join our Fundraising and Communications team, to help ensure that people with lived experience of the immigration system are the driving force of our dynamic communications work, whilst also building the organisation’s profile and amplifying our systems-change work.

You will have experience of managing frontline staff, supporting them to follow service delivery processes and procedures to ensure effective and safe service delivery to achieve positive outcomes for young women and girls accessing the Victims and Witnesses service. Union Chapel has been running an important project to assist asylum seekers resident in Islington contingency hotels.

With funding made available by Islington Council, we provide wraparound support in the form of orientation workshops; health and wellbeing; information relating to the asylum process; ESOL classes; social activities and befriending.

Union Chapel is located in Compton Terrace, N1 but the bulk of the work will take place either in the hotels or in premises close to them in Kings Cross.

The post holder will work closely within the Church team and alongside the Margins staff, especially with our Social Justice Worker.

This post is part time – 3 and ½ days per week.  Some early evening work may be required.

Responsibilities and Duties

Run regular ESOL classes and organise new groups according to students’ needs

Recruit volunteers who will provide regular learning opportunities and befriending for hotel residents, including recruitment from within the resident group

Arrange Safeguarding courses and DBS checks for volunteers

Provide information to potential and newly recruited volunteers on the values, activities and scope of the programme

Maintain regular contact and support for volunteers

Manage a timetable for ESOL groups

Liaise with hotel staff and external partners to maximise learning opportunities for students

Plan English classes and provide appropriate learning materials and resources

Provide volunteers and participants with information on other opportunities within our programme such as workshops on the asylum process and health and wellbeing and other free opportunities

Report any safeguarding issues in a timely manner

The role of Head of Finance – Treasury and Financial Planning will lead, manage and co-ordinate the provision of the Groups Financial Planning, Treasury Management Services and Management Accounting functions as well as assist the Finance Director to lead and manage the Finance team.

The role:

• Lead, manage and motivate a team of four with two direct reports.
