The National Careers Service

The National Careers Service provides free, professional careers information, advice, and guidance to help you make decisions about learning, training, and work at any stage of your career. The service is available to anyone living in England and aged 13 or over.

Through the National Careers Service, anyone can access professional careers advice and support for free via webchat, on the telephone, and face-to-face with a qualified careers adviser in your local area.

Skilled careers advisers can provide support on any aspect of your career journey.

The Team

As part of the National Careers Service team in the Southeast, you will be part of a small cohort of highly experienced and qualified Careers Advisers provide Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG) by various methods including, Face to Face, Telephone and Virtual (MS Teams) appointments. The success of team is their excellent communication and ability to support each other on a daily basis.  

The Role

As a qualified Careers Adviser, you will be responsible for the daily delivery of Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance to adults on a range of opportunities, including learning, career paths and employment.

As a Careers Adviser you will use your experience of working with people within the community from a variety of backgrounds using various methodologies to empower customers as they seek to overcome barriers to progression and make informed career decisions about their futures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate their abilities to achieve their goals on an outcome-based contract supporting others to achieve their goals. You will be organised, flexible in your abilities to support the needs of the charity.

From time to time, you will be required to attend CXK Head Office (Ashford, Kent) for meetings, events and other organisational activities.

Minimum Criteria

· IAG qualification at Level 4 or above

· A commitment to undertake all necessary training for the role including Career Progression Development (CDP) as directed

· Education to at least A level standard (or equivalent)

Essential Criteria

· Full UK drivers’ licence and use of own vehicle for work purposes to travel across county to support the charity needs as directed by the Area Manager

· Experience of working towards and achieving targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with regular reviews, to meet the delivery needs of the charity

· Experience of direct work with face-to-face collaboration with people in a formal or informal setting 

· Experience of Microsoft products and ability to use them effectively, including Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams, and use of PowerPoint

· Experience of working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds

· Ability to build effective and professional relationships with partner agencies and organisations

· Efficient data inputting skills that show an attention to detail and an understanding of the impact of this work

· An awareness of the issues affecting people, particularly the impact of social and economic disadvantage on personal motivation, confidence, and ability to progress through education, employment, and training

Fight for Peace is a global organisation that uses sport and martial arts combined with education, employability training, and personal development to address violence and support the development of young people in communities affected by crime and social inequality.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Primary Intervention Manager will lead and coordinate the delivery of all primary intervention services within the academy. Content Development & Design 

• Create high-quality digital and media learning materials, including guides, toolkits, presentations, eLearning modules and video resources tailored for creative professionals

Location: Based in our Central Office in Islington which is around a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station. About you

You will be able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information effectively, and able to upskill others to be empowered to perform within their roles, with knowledge of clinical excellence. You will have:

• Registered Clinical Profession; Specialist Registered Mental Health Nurse, Non Medical Prescriber qualification or equivalent
• Proven leadership in clinical service delivery within health, social care, or third sector settings

To provide specialist mental health advice, support, and advocacy to victims of trafficking in the Modern Slavery Response Team. To help identify and navigate risk, create case formulations, and ensure service users are linked into all the supports they need. Key Responsibilities

Information, advice and guidance:

• Work one-on-one with adults and children with a visual impairment and their carers/ families, providing a comprehensive initial assessment in a person-centred, empathetic, and empowering manner.
• Provide internal and external referrals and deliver follow-up actions to enable maximum wellbeing for service users.
• Manage incoming and outgoing referrals internally and with a wide range of external providers, communicating promptly to manage cases effectively and safely.
• Work closely with team members and volunteers to collate and send Information Packs and other necessary communications such as appointment letters in accessible formats.
• Assess risks as needed and report any safeguarding concerns to the Safeguarding Lead.

Equipment:

• Be aware of and able demonstrate and advise on equipment for people with a visual impairment when needed and/or refer to other services.
• If needed during home/ care home visits, provide minor adaptations such as high visibility tape on steps or tactile markings on appliances.

Data management:

• Ensure that all service delivery to individuals and service user data is promptly and appropriately recorded and managed on the Vision North Somerset database, in accordance with procedures.
• Work with team members and volunteers to maintain accuracy of the Vision North Somerset service user database, including collecting data permissions and equality monitoring information from service users during visits.

Local networking and knowledge:

• Develop and maintain knowledge and resources on relevant services offered by organisations to people in North Somerset. Work with the Administrator to maintain records on online files and paper files (for example service leaflets).
• Occasionally attend local meetings, arrange meetings with staff from key local organisations or represent Vision North Somerset to develop mutual knowledge of local services.

· Maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with Vision North Somerset staff (and volunteers if appropriate).

· Ensure that other staff understand your role and that you work cooperatively with good communication.

Advocacy Coordinator

Location: London (Hybrid - at least 2 days per week in the office)

Would you like to use your understanding of politics and political advocacy, and your relationship-building skills, to tackle injustice? Can you bring people together to work for change? We are seeking to recruit an Advocacy Coordinator to develop and coordinate the delivery of influencing strategies around the identified public policy priorities of the Methodist Church and the Joint Public Issues Team. In recent years these have includes issues around poverty, refugees and migration, the environment, the economy, peace and conflict, and politics.

About you

You’ll need to bring experience of coordinating campaigns or political advocacy initiatives and an understanding of different methods of working for policy change. You’ll need a good understanding of UK politics and of the context for public policy development, and to be a great communicator. You should be sympathetic to the mission of the Methodist Church, and share our commitment to seeking justice and to issues of equality, diversity and inclusion.

You would be working as part of the ecumenical Joint Public Issues Team, which brings together the Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches, plus associate partners, to work together for peace and justice. The Meridian One Community Garden is a meanwhile space which primarily grows fruit, salad and vegetable crops. We engage local people in the garden through weekly volunteer gardening sessions, school visits and other community events.

TCV are looking for a Senior Project Officer who has skills and experience in community engagement, delivering events and experience of managing a community facility. The community garden was established three years ago, and the site includes an office, community meeting/education room, toilets and a large polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will be able to effectively deliver different tasks as required, from planning and delivering a large community family weekend event to ensuring our site Health & Safety is maintained. The post holder will be able to lead volunteers in practical tasks such as making large, raised wooden planters, help maintain the garden plants during the Spring and Summer growing period and ensure administration tasks are completed on time. These administration tasks are varied and include procurement of materials, creating risk assessments, updating social media posts and completing task reports. The Senior Project Officer will be required to lead the delivery of our under 5's Nature Explorers outdoor playgroup activities, school visits, themed evening events and weekend family events. Additionally, the Senior Project Officer will deliver corporate volunteering sessions and provide holiday cover for our weekly Green Gym gardening session. Our wider events have included women's Pampering and Enrichment evenings, Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent workshops and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photography exhibition. Our weekend family events provide free food, music and arts and crafts activities. The post holder will also be required to lead occasional practical food growing and conservation activities with volunteers.

This a very much a public facing role and the Senior Project Officer must be welcoming and approachable to a wide range of stakeholders. The visitors to the garden have a wide range of backgrounds and needs, you'll need to be experienced in working with people, from toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, vulnerable adults, to corporate volunteers and senior staff from our funders and the local authority.

In addition to this Senior Project Officer role, there are two other part time Project Officers working at the garden. TCV offers an excellent, extensive training programme and additional support from a great team of local colleagues.

Usual working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times and home working will be limited, except in exceptional circumstances. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to plan & lead on the delivery of those evening and weekend events.

This role would suit someone with previous practical experience of day-to-day management of a community garden or community centre.

Ideally, we're looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what's equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is friendly, welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We'd therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, perhaps with experience of working in a community centre.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with mental health and/or dual diagnosis needs in either paid or voluntary roles. They will be able to learn quickly, gather and process information, make informed decisions, and maintain accurate records within confidentiality guidelines. The role requires the ability to work with individuals who may display challenging behaviour, using a calm, non-judgemental, solution-focused approach to defuse difficult situations and support positive change. Candidates should be optimistic about clients' capacity to change, able to work collaboratively to solve problems, and adaptable to a sometimes chaotic or pressured environment. A clear understanding of safeguarding principles and the ability to address concerns appropriately is essential, alongside a willingness to work unsociable hours, including early, late, and occasional weekend shifts as part of a team rota.
