Your new role

You will be responsible providing the utmost support to the Head of Finance and the wider Senior Leadership Team with diary management, minute-taking, board and council meetings, travel logistics and complex inbox management.

Main scope of the role

• Administrative support to the Executive Directors
• Office Support and Management

• Act as facilities manager for the office dealing with items such as telephone system, copier franking machine, furniture etc.
• Manage office cover and handling of inbound telephone calls.

• Maintenance of diaries - self-explanatory but often complex because of number of officers and entities.
• Arranging travel & itineraries - trips around the UK for Executive Directors.
• Confidential work for the Executive Directors.
• Assist in compiling agendas and reports for all Council meetings.
• Organise Council and other Committee meetings and meetings with Government bodies and other ad-hoc meetings.
• Taking minutes for Council meetings.

Your role

As Assistant Shop Manager at Scope's Bognor Regis shop, you’ll work alongside the Shop Manager, and use your creativity and flair to flourish in our retail environment. We are seeking a Fundraising Assistant at York Minster Fund for an initial fixed term contract of 12 months, commencing summer 2024. This part time, flexible role will support our team in administrative and fundraising tasks across a range of exciting activities and events, helping to raise funds for the Minster’s ongoing work.

Our ideal candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic and confident communicator across different groups of people and keen to gain experience across projects and events. We are looking for someone with some demonstrable customer service/administrative/business experience and sound IT skills; as well as an enquiring mindset with a willingness to learn about the fascinating world of philanthropy, fundraising and conservation. 

York Minster Fund is the lead fundraising partner for York Minster. We are an independent organisation, with a separate board of Trustees, who work closely with colleagues across the Cathedral to secure income for a number of much needed projects and programmes of work. Established in 1967, as an emergency response to an urgent restoration project, we secure funds from charitable foundations, major and corporate donors, legacy donors, individuals and events. 

Our funds provide much needed income for a wide range of projects, including the fabric and repair of the iconic Minster itself, the training of apprentices in traditional heritage crafts and strategic initiatives such as the realisation of the Minster's new international Centre of Excellence for Heritage Skills and Estate Management. 

In the last year we have built on existing strong fundraising relationships and techniques to explore new ways of engaging donors and digital audiences and this is an exciting time to join the Fund as we move forward on a number of major projects. As part of our small but highly experienced team, no two days are the same and the role could see you supporting with many different projects and tasks including donor events administration and delivery, correspondence and research.

There is some flexibility for home working, but we do need regular office attendance for this role in York.

We are looking for a Charity Shop Manager to cover shifts in both of the Harington Charity Shops in North London. The Charity Shop Manager (Cover) role, will be guaranteed 8.5 hours a week in our Hornsey charity shop. In addition to this there may be other variable hours over and above this, where they will be asked to provide cover when the Charity Shop Managers or Shop Assistants are on leave at either the Archway or Hornsey Charity Shops. Please note the salary is £28,598 pro rata depending on the number of hours worked. We are looking for someone who can be extremely flexible and adaptable to change. About the role

The London Library is looking for an Acquisitions and Discovery Assistant to assist in the acquisition and management of Library E-resources and print resources.

The role includes supporting the successful acquisition and seamless delivery of electronic resources to library users, utilising and maintaining relevant library systems and records; assisting purchasing decisions and supporting licensing, ordering and payment processes; verifying access, liaising with suppliers & Library IT, and ensuring correct metadata is presented to users; plus monitoring resource use and collecting data for the evaluation of subscriptions. There is the opportunity to support membership and services, including giving tours to prospective members.

In addition to assisting with the administration of E-books, the role requires processes associated with the management of the print journal collection, including serials and donated materials, such as checking in new issues and ensuring publications are shelved correctly, applying stamps, recording invoices, recording changes in publishers' information and preparing completed volumes of serial parts for binding and checking.

About the Team

As our Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you'll work alongside other Assistant Directors, contributing to a collaborative, non-hierarchical decision-making environment.

About the Role

As Assistant Director Activism & Advocacy, you will provide strategic direction to the heads of Digital campaigning, Community Organising, Policy, Research, and Public Affairs teams.

You'll support the development of high-profile campaigns and drive continual improvement to achieve Shelter's strategic goals.

This role involves building strong relationships across Shelter, promoting collaboration, and acting as a spokesperson when required.

You'll need excellent political instincts, campaign experience, and the ability to oversee the production of high-quality policy and research.

About You

We're seeking candidates with experience in matrix management environments, senior leadership skills in project/change management, and a track record of impactful campaigning, policy, research, or public affairs activities.

You should demonstrate the Shelter Behaviours, including collaboration, prioritising diversity, enabling decision-making, creating change, openness to risk, and learning from experiences.

This is a critical role supporting the Chief Innovation, Income and Engagement Officer, Executive Director of Policy & Research and Chief Medical Officer, which will enable them to make the best of use of their time to achieve the biggest difference for people at the end of life.

The ambition is to grow the programme sustainably in the long term but also ensure the target is met in 2024-25. This year will be about proactive engagement with a wide range of potential supporters, developing programme infrastructure and securing mid-value donations to build the pipeline from the ground up. In year two they hope to drive up gift volume and value.

The Senior Philanthropy Manager will line manage the Philanthropy Officer, supporting their development and fostering an overall culture of collaboration and high performance. The role will also personally cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing major donors, and work collaboratively on a programme of stewardship and cultivation events.

There is a huge amount of potential for this income stream, and with the right Senior Philanthropy Manager, the portfolio could really fly.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, develop and lead the Philanthropy Officer
• Manage a portfolio of existing donors, deepening their relationship with the charity and upscaling gifts
• Develop a healthy pipeline of new donors, managing prospects with a view to increasing gifts
• Lead the strategic planning for the major donor programme
• Develop an events programme for cultivation and stewardship of donors

Essential criteria

• Substantial experience of, and a strong track record in, major gift fundraising
• Experience of personally soliciting 5-6 figure gifts from major donors
