About The Role

This is a casual Retail Assistant role, supporting the day-to-day running of the retail offer and helping to create a welcoming experience for visitors. Being a casual role means hours are offered on an as-needed basis rather than being fixed each week, making it a great option if you’re looking for flexibility or want to fit work around other commitments. Shifts are available across all seven days of the week, and you’re free to choose when you’re available.

The Arboretum is the UK’s dedicated year-round centre of Remembrance and is part of the Royal British Legion. At its core, the Royal British Legion is a people-focused organisation. You’ll be part of a friendly, customer focused team, helping visitors feel supported and making sure the shop is well presented and running smoothly. The role is varied and hands on, from assisting with purchases and answering questions, to supporting stock replenishment and working alongside volunteers. You’ll also act as a positive ambassador for the site, promoting activities and products in a way that feels natural and welcoming.

We’re looking for people who enjoy working with the public, communicate well and stay calm when things get busy. You don’t need to have done this exact role before if you bring strong customer service skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you. About the National Memorial Arboretum
The Arboretum is the UK’s leading year-round centre of Remembrance and a proud part of the Royal British Legion. This part-time maternity cover role (17.5 hours per week) is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the heart of a busy team and keeping things running smoothly. What You’ll Be Doing

As our Individual Giving Assistant – Supporter Retention & Development, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our fundraising campaigns and projects, helping to retain and maximise the lifetime value of our supporters. You’ll be one of the first points of contact for our donors, providing exceptional supporter care and ensuring every supporter feels valued. Your day-to-day will include:

• Responding to supporter enquiries by phone and email, ensuring all queries are handled efficiently and with care

• Accurately recording and processing donations, including “in memory” gifts, and updating supporter records on our database

We're looking for someone with experience of verging or similar church support work. Good social skills are essential as is the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.  The ability to work closely with and relate well to all Cathedral staff, ministry team, congregation, volunteers, visitors, and members of the general public will also be required. 

The two Assistant Vergers and Precinct Officers carry out a wide range of duties under the direction of the Head Verger and Precinct Manager.  Work includes: the careful setting up and delivery of all liturgical matters; ensuring a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for all working in, visiting, or using the Cathedral and Cathedral House and precinct and ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the Cathedral for all.

Essential experience and skills

• A flexible attitude and willingness to take on a range of duties including practical ‘hands- on’ work.
• Attention to detail and an ability to assess priorities including when under pressure.
• Understanding of liturgy or willingness to learn.
• Ability to be a good team player and work collaboratively with Ministry Team and Lay Staff.
• Good administrative and IT skills.
• Good communication and social skills.
• Good understanding of the importance of managing security and health and safety.
• Have an open and welcoming attitude to all including volunteers and members of the general public.
• A trained First Aider (or willing to be trained upon appointment to an appropriate level).

Desirable experience

• At least one year’s experience as a church or cathedral verger or in a similar role.

Specific responsibilities:
1.To assist the Support Service Manager in managing the delivery of specialist, trauma-informed support to adults and children living in refuge, recognising the impact of domestic or sexual abuse, harm or violence, and responding with empathy, respect, and consistency.
2.Contribute to a refuge environment that is compassionate, equitable, and grounded in integrity -where every individual feels safe, heard, and supported.
3.Manage Safeguarding across the service, complying with internal and external policy and legislation, authorise adult and child referrals maintaining a trauma-informed, non-judgemental stance that prioritises dignity and safety
4.Provide line management to Team Leaders and Support Workers in line with Cyfannol’s policies and values, leading recruitment, induction, supervision, training, and development in an inclusive and engaging way.
5.Key Contributor alongside Service Manager in risk compliance, supporting team members to regularly assess and positively managing risk in an inclusive and enabling way.
6.Manage the delegated aspects of budgetary responsibility including some purchasing, work closely with the Finance department.
7.Attend Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), core group and other similar meetings.
8.Provide support team with case management and direction, providing direct support for emergency/ crisis situations, complex cases, team member absence, when more than one worker are required.
9.Review complex or serious concerns or breaches that are impacting maintenance of licence/ contracts and escalate to Service Manager when appropriate
10.Grow your service team’s understanding, skills and confidence in providing support through informed choice where individuals design their own meaningful support outcomes
11.Manage data compliance and oversee regular service internal audits of service and case work, provide improvement plans where appropriate.
12.Fulfil reporting obligations to funders that are delegated by the Project Manager/ Coordinator which includes aspects of funding schedules, rendering of services and Commissioning audits
13.Complete delegated requirements for regular external data collection and reporting including National Quality Standards and Welsh Women's Aid.
14.Lead regular Service team meetings to support communication, reflection and service development
15. Encourage and support adults and children to have a voice within Cyfannol and the wider sector
16. Contribute (through working closely with the Facilities Coordinator) to ensuring a safe compliant and quality environment across Hwbs and services

18. Contribute to internal development projects as part of an organisational continuous improvement.

About the Role

About the role:

This maternity cover role offers the opportunity to work in close partnership with the Chief Executive, supporting effective leadership and strong governance at Single Homeless Project. As Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive, you’ll be right where leadership, governance and momentum meet, helping SHP stay focused, responsive and ambitious. You’ll support the organisation to make confident decisions and keep moving forward with purpose, often by ensuring the right conversations happen at the right time and with the right information in the room.

You’ll work closely with the Chief Executive, Executive Management Team and Board of Trustees, bringing clarity and structure to complex priorities. Key tasks

Casework provision 

• Provide support for our weekly sessions and programs.

• Contribute to the initial planning and development of regular and seasonal community events.

• Assist with delivering all scheduled workshops, courses, and community events.

• Manage logistical aspects of sessions, including preparing materials, setting up and tidying event spaces, and ensuring all essential items are available (refreshments, first aid supplies, registration and feedback forms, and fidget toys).

• Address practical barriers for attendees, such as coordinating transport expenses are covered and childcare support is arranged (if applicable).

The Community Fundraising Assistant (Ramadan Campaign) plays a crucial role during Ramadan. The role provides critical support in fundraising collections and events.  The role will involve working occasional unsociable hours (weekends and evenings) and national travel, sometimes at short notice, during the Ramadan period to maximise our income generating opportunities.

About the Role:

1. The main responsibilities of the role are lister below.  Other tasks may be assigned on an ad hoc basis in support of our Ramadan fundraising activities.
2. Attend mosques and Islamic institutions to collect donations and pledges in response to Muslim Aid’s appeals, supporting mosque collections through fundraising, data capture, and donor engagement.
3. Set up and break down fundraising events, assisting with event setup, registration, and coordination across multiple venues.
4. Provide administrative and logistical assistance before, during, and after events to ensure smooth and efficient delivery.
5. Assist in the logistical coordination of Muslim Aid’s Live Appeals, helping to ensure all operational and support activities run effectively.
6. Support and assist volunteers in running and managing fundraising activities, providing guidance and ensuring a positive experience for supporters.
