As our Communications and marketing assistant you will be a key member of the Winchester Hospice Fundraising Charity team, supporting the realisation of our communication, engagement and marketing plans to our stakeholders, allowing the charity to deliver its innovative fundraising strategy to be able to meet ambitious financial targets.

In this role you will collaborate with the wider team to ensure a unified and effective approach to fundraising communications, helping to ensure that the charity is financially sustainable and widely recognised by the local community. You will support the promotion and delivery of events, large and small, provide excellent communications support to steward donors and to enhance supporter journeys. You will contribute significantly towards the delivery of meaningful digital and print communications. Your proactive, can-do attitude and dedication to communications will play a crucial role in building a charity brand that is pre-eminent and synonymous with Winchester.

Job description

We are looking for someone with a compassionate outlook who enjoys working with young people (students between 18 and 30), can maintain a positive mindset in unpredictable situations and handle responsibility. This is a people-centred workplace and all work we do is geared towards our mission and to look after the welfare of the students living here. It is essential that anyone applying for this role is aligned with our mission and as passionate as we are about it.

You will be working as part of a small team, sharing office space and in close collaboration with colleagues and students. This is a diverse role where you will meet interesting people from around the world. The day-to-day job can be challenging, but we provide full training and the chance of learning many new skills. Reporting to the Warden / Deputy Warden and working alongside another Assistant Warden you will assist with the general office admin duties and various tasks around the house (including some basic maintenance and repairs) for which we will provide adequate training – however, a positive attitude is essential. You will also need to be comfortable with taking personal responsibility to ensure delegated tasks are completed successfully, effectively and, where necessary, using your own initiative.

Whilst your role and daily tasks may vary, they can include (not an exhaustive list):

·Maintaining office admin paperwork, computer filing, responding to e-mails & phone calls

·Completing basic bookkeeping tasks, e.g. inputting/issuing invoices & receipts into Xero

·Inducting new residents - hour-long introductory talk to ensure they are very familiar with the running of the House from their arrival onwards, ensuring rooms are of an acceptable standard when they leave – this needs to be done with the right measure of authority

·Bedrooms & Bathrooms – repairs to fittings, unblocking drains, replacing sealant etc.

·Pest control – e.g. checking for rodent or bedbug activity, organising and potentially carrying out treatment

·Preparing and cleaning rooms before letting where necessary - e.g. following maintenance (note: rooms are otherwise cleaned by residents; communal areas by professional cleaners)

·Pastoral care – e.g. discussing personal or academic issues with residents and finding solutions

·Planning and supervising communal activities, e.g Welcome party, barbeques, etc.

·Social media posts, taking meeting notes, working with the charity trustees.

As a Public Fundraising Assistant, you’ll help deliver engaging face-to-face and telephone fundraising campaigns to grow Dogs Trust’s supporter base. Working in our Public Fundraising team, you’ll play a key role in helping us care for thousands of dogs across the UK.

What does this role do?
As a Public Fundraising Assistant, you will: 

• respond to public enquiries, complaints, and donation updates related to face-to-face fundraising, ensuring all communications reflect the Dogs Trust brand, tone, and procedures.
• liaise with fundraising agencies to monitor campaign performance, resolve incidents or complaints, and ensure all campaign requirements are met.
• support quality assurance by reviewing mystery shop reports, visiting fundraising sites or agencies, and providing feedback to improve performance.
• assist with administrative and campaign support tasks, including managing fundraising materials, handling database queries, and helping with copy and proofing when required.

This role is being offered as a fixed term, family leave cover contract until December 2026. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for 22nd May 2026, and will take place on Teams.

The Coin Street Nursery has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic team player, who wants to gain experience in a non-domestic kitchen supporting our in-house nursery chef. Your role will be to support the chef running the nursery kitchen, providing food for the children and childcare staff in our 59-place nursery. Ideally you will be familiar with working in a similar setting, though this is not essential.

We are looking for someone who has passion for ensuring young children eat healthy and balanced meals, takes initiative and is eager to learn. We’ll provide training – Food Hygiene or Food Safety – if you haven’t already done these. Independent Age is the national charity focused on improving the lives of people facing financial hardship in later life. We believe no one should face financial hardship in later life.

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK. 

We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

This role is part of our Facilities and Property team. The Facilities and Office Assistant will ensure our office is a well-maintained, welcoming and inclusive working environment for colleagues and visitors. They will support the Facilities and Property Manager with day-to-day office running, health and safety and will work closely with teams across the organisation to create a safe, positive and inclusive workplace environment. The postholder will support staff onboarding and wellbeing and contribute to a high-quality employee experience in the office and working from home.

You should have good customer service skills and mindset, able to provide a welcoming experience for visitors and colleagues. You will enjoy relationship‑building and have a person-centre approach to supporting colleagues and an ability to communicate sensitively with older tenants. You should be highly organised with attention to detail and have an ability to switch between tasks and prioritise in a role which, by its nature, involves interruptions.

This is a part‑time position of 28 hours per week, usually worked over four days, though we’re happy to consider five shorter days. The role is mainly office‑based, with occasional hybrid working arranged with your line manager. Your working days will be agreed with the Facilities and Properties Manager (who also works part‑time) to ensure full office coverage across the working week.

The Role

This is a great opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of legal policy issues and contribute to the work of a dynamic policy department.

You'll support the Justice team, working closely with Policy Advisors to track legal and political developments and carry out supporting research. You'll help shape robust, evidence-based policy positions and contribute to policy analysis and development, including opportunities to engage with expert solicitors from Law Society Committees and our wider membership.

Under guidance, you'll help draft policy content such as consultation responses, reports, and briefings. You'll also support the Law Society's engagement with key stakeholders, including members, legal professionals, civil servants, and partner organisations. This will include attending and representing the Law Society at external meetings.

The role also includes administrative tasks, such as helping to organise events, maintaining reporting systems, and supporting day-to-day team operations.

This is a varied and rewarding role, ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and start a career in legal policy.

What we're looking for

You will have good understanding of the law and legal environment, and an enthusiasm for developing your knowledge across a broad range of legal issues. You will be able to work closely with others to produce high-quality research and understand the key points of new issues quickly.

You will have good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and develop relationships with people from a broad range of backgrounds.

You will be flexible, organised and proactive and have experience of working to deadlines and adapting to new priorities as they arise.
