The role of the Chief Executive Officer is to provide strategic support to the student officers within our student-led organisation, and to provide support and leadership to the senior leadership team and our Board of Trustees.
The post-holder is required to provide an interface between the Trustee Board and the leadership team, and between other key decision-making bodies within the Students’ Association, converting policy and strategy into action.
Our CEO will be a source of continuity within the Students’ Association, providing vision and expertise to drive the Association forward towards organisational goals whilst ensuring that the Association is structured to facilitate Student Officers’ work towards organisational objectives.
As a key contact and partner with UHI stakeholders, the CEO is required to work towards aligning the Students’ Associations' progression into the UHI’s strategy. The CEO should also ensure that all aspects of organisational risk are identified, monitored and managed.

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced, visionary leader to chair our Education Committee, guiding a passionate professional community and shaping the impact of acupuncture education.
This is a unique opportunity to foster collaboration, and champion the educational aims of an influential complementary health profession recognised by the WHO. To ensure an independent perspective informed by broader sector insight (across higher education and health), this role is open to senior education leaders from other UK healthcare professions outside acupuncture.
What you’ll do
· Support the development of the educational strategy and decision-making that ensures the committee’s work is both forward-looking and fit-for-purpose.
· Lead and chair meetings effectively, balancing strong voices and diverse perspectives.
· Uphold the principles of Public life (NOLAN principles) build collaboration and trust across committee members, staff leading on education, and external stakeholders.

Someone with significant senior leadership experience in UK healthcare higher education, from a profession other than acupuncture, with a strong understanding of professional education, governance, and academic standards.

· strategic thinking with the ability to bring external insight to influence committee outputs and alignment with wider organisational goals

Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Program Manager will work across the whole organisation, towards the successful development of the values and the proven model in a second site; and its partnership with the Essex site will be an important part of the role.
Camp Jojo is growing from a young, largely trustee led, organisation to a staff team led organisation. Again this role will be a fundamental part of that transition. This is a predominantly an operational post, and not responsible for the finances of organisation, though it will deliver operations within the board approved budget. They will also sit on, or chair, several of the Committees of the charity; including the Senior Operations Team.
The role will offer leadership to key functions of Camp Jojo, Camp Jojo staff and contractors, and to members of the Camp Jojo Board, in relation to the work of the charity. Whilst the majority of the work will be remote the incumbent will be required to attend some meetings and events in person, including at both sites. They will also be required to attend at least part of the actual camp events. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.
The Program Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, interact professionally with the Camp Jojo community and be very good communicators. They will deal with model consistency, values, and operational issues across both sites.

The Board of Governors is led by Alan Bishop, who joined as Chair in August 2019. Under Alan’s leadership and guidance, The Place has demonstrated dynamism and growth in dance development through our world-leading status despite an increasingly challenging external context.
Alan has been a passionate advocate for our artistic and educational ambition, championing a culture of thoughtful risk-taking underpinned by strong risk management. He has deeply understood and valued the innovative spirit that has defined The Place since its founding and his leadership has been instrumental in carrying that legacy forward- guiding us from our previous five-year strategic plan to our current vision, with boldness and creativity at its core. The Place expects to welcome a new chair in 2026.
The Governors help us shape our overall strategy and support The Place to fulfil its artistic and educational objectives within a sustainable business model. The Governors work closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, and play a vital role as advocates and ambassadors on behalf of The Place.
As The Place is a company limited by guarantee (company no. 883094) and a registered charity (charity no. 250216), Governors are both charity trustees and company directors.
There are two key departments; Education (comprising Research and London Contemporary Dance School and the Centre for Advanced Training), and Public Programmes (comprising Theatre and Artist Development, Producing and Touring, Creative Learning and Classes and Courses). These departments are supported by Central Services Teams including Communications, Development, Finance and Human Resources.
Key stakeholders and partners include Arts Council England, Office for Students, the Department for Education, Research England alongside the Charity Commission. We also have a partnership with the University of the Arts London (UAL) in support of degree validation and PhD supervision.
SALARY
The salary for this position is £40,000-£45,000 (depending on experience).
Salaries are reviewed in August each year when any cost-of-living increases are made. No salary changes are made until after successful completion of a probationary period.
CONTRACT TERMS
This is an open-ended, permanent contract. This is a full-time position (equivalent to 40 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager. A minimum of 50% of hours must be office-based, with the opportunity for some remote working in agreement with the line manager.
Whilst in the six-month probationary period the notice period will be two weeks. Once this period is successfully completed the post holder will be confirmed in the post and the notice period will be twelve weeks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Support
- Act as liaison between the CEO and internal and external stakeholders, drafting communications and ensuring clear, timely information flow; supporting scheduling of meetings and tracking of actions and, with support from the CRM Manager, ensuring key contacts and relationship data are accurately and securely maintained on the organisation’s central database.
- Coordinate meetings and agendas with the CEO, Director of Finance and Operations, Chair of the Board, and Board sub-committees; manage papers and follow-up actions.
- Organise external meetings, including venue liaison, room bookings, and travel arrangements.
- Provide administrative support to the Senior Management Team (SMT), including preparing reports, presentations, and other materials as required.

Governance and Additional EA Support Duties
- Support the Director of Finance and Operations and Operations Manager to ensure AVUK’s legal obligations regarding governance, record-keeping and reporting requirements are maintained.
- Oversee office management and liaise with landlords at AVUK centres in London, Bicester, and flexible workspaces in Glasgow and Leeds.
- Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CEO or Senior Management Team, including planning and execution.

Camp Jojo is a small/medium, but growing charity with a committed team of Trustees, Special Advisors, and Volunteers. This is a chance to contribute to a dynamic organisation and work in a supportive environment. In particular, Camp Jojo’s extension of its work to Nags Head Farm, Appleby, Cumbria, is new; with Open Days held in 2025, and the first camps to be held in August 2026.
The holder of this post will be critical to this development; working to establish a sister site in Cumbria to Ivy Farm on Mersea island, Essex, with a well tried and tested model of operations. The role of Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager (Families and Site Ops) is to offer leadership and administrative support to key functions of Camp Jojo at Nags Head Farm, and to members of the Camp Jojo Board, in relation to the camps held at Nags Head Farm.
The Contractor will handle clerical and logistics tasks for the organisation in a timely and efficient way. The primary task of the Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will be to oversee family applications to the camps, and to maintain and develop data bases in support of this. They will hold a key role in relation to communications with the families pre-, during, and post-camps. In addition, they will attend and minute meetings, and contribute to camp operations in planning etc. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.
They will attend the first day (Friday) of each camp The Nags Head Farm: Operations Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, interact professionally with the wider Camp Jojo community, and be very good communicators.

RMF is a registered charity founded in 1855 whose aim is to assist registered doctors and their families who are in financial hardship. The Royal Medical Foundation is a charity based at Epsom College in Surrey, UK. It was founded in 1855 by Dr. John Propert. The foundation’s primary mission is to assist GMC-registered doctors and their families who are experiencing financial hardship. The foundation provides support in several ways: regular payments to doctors, widows, widowers, and children of doctors; One-off grants for emergency situations; and assistance with school fees for the children of doctors, helping to maintain educational stability during times of distress caused by illness, bereavement, or financial need.
The Role
The role will be assisting and supporting the case work manager in the good running, granting and management of awards to beneficiaries and the development of its impact in accordance with the RMF’s charitable objectives. The caseworker will report to the Case Work Manager but is accountable to the Chair of the RMF.
Case Work duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Investigating all applications, which meet the Foundation’s guidelines to satisfy their eligibility for financial assistance. Checking the applicants’ personal and financial circumstances to make recommendations of the type and amount of assistance required. Investigating supporting documentation, potential beneficiaries and conducting due diligence to eliminate any fraudulent applications, particularly if information provided is inconsistent.
- Ensuring applicants meet the Foundation guidelines and eligibility criteria and provide the relevant information needed.
- Support the Casework Manager with preparing, drafting and presenting case papers for quarterly RMF Board meetings, as well as regularly reviewing cases and providing updates where necessary.
- Administering new and existing grants and awards, including administration of regular payments to beneficiaries. Maintaining regular contact with all beneficiaries and ensuring that any problems are dealt with swiftly. Regularly reviewing and updating existing beneficiaries’ financial circumstances and liaising with the finance department and Administrator accordingly.
- Signposting and referring as and when necessary to other agencies (e.g. social workers) and charities. Maintaining close liaison with all the other Medical Charities to ensure that all applicants receive the assistance they need, and to prevent unnecessary duplication in financial assistance. Attending regular meetings held by trusts and charities to stay connected with developments in the voluntary sector and for networking purposes.
- Signposting to support applicants with Welfare Benefit advice - ensuring that beneficiaries are in full receipt of all their eligible Welfare Benefits.
Office and management duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
General Administration
- General office administration including dealing with all post, emails, and telephone calls for the RMF.
- Ensuring the various application forms and letter templates are kept up to date, including changes to state benefits.
- Track and monitor applicant and case load data, identifying any trends or patterns of behaviours. Regularly monitor and update key metrics relating to applicants and case work including number of applicants per quarter and their profile/demographic, number of open and closed cases and report to the Board on a quarterly basis.
- Draft a quarterly report to the Board, monitoring data and identifying trends relating to key metrics relating to applicants and case work including the number of applicants per quarter, their profile/demographic, number of open and closed cases.
- Providing timely information as requested by the auditors and responding to any queries form the Auditors. Assisting the Director of Finance and Secretary to Council in preparing for and drafting the Annual Report and Financial Statement.
RMF Board Meetings
- Support the Casework Manager with preparing the case papers and all supporting documentation for the Board meetings.
- Preparing the award and refusal letters after each meeting, in line with decisions made as recorded in the Minutes.
- Managing and tracking each beneficiary offer and acceptance of award.
Payment Arrangements
- Ensuring there is sufficient funding available for awards agreed by the Trustees. Liaising with the finance team to ensure payments are made on time and are accurate. Providing appropriate updated data to the Director of Finance (of Epsom College) to add to the Grants Financial Statement.
- Providing information for payment of the monthly BACS and other payments with supporting evidence and liaising with Director of Finance and Administrator for approval of payments.
- Ensuring the correct withdrawal of unused funds is put forward at each meeting and inform Accounts Department accordingly to deduct on the Grants Financial Statement when approved.
- Ensuring that the various payments requested by the beneficiaries are reasonable, are consistent with the minuted decision, that funding is available, and payment is actioned appropriately.
Marketing and Profile raising
- Support the Caseworker Manager in developing and implementing plans to raise the profile of the RMF and target appropriate audiences within the medical sector to increase appropriate applications and report back to the Board.
- Assisting the Caseworker Manager in raising awareness of the work of RMF including writing articles for medical publications, applying for charity grants and awards as well participating in charity award events;
Compliance
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns to the Casework Manager (or other senior manager) who will escalate to the Safeguarding Lead where appropriate – following all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of relevant regulatory and legislative guidance applicable to the Charity, including the Charities Commission guidance.
- Ensure board reporting, recording keeping and working practices are compliant with Data Protection principles, UK GDPR and other regulatory requirements;
- Maintaining a high standard of record keeping and detailed case records, including attendance notes of any communication with applicants.
Qualifications, skills, attributes, and experience
- Experience in promoting a charity’s mission and goals to offer appropriate support to potential applicants
- A good working knowledge of the processing of grants and awards in compliance with regulatory standards, alongside financial acumen
- Strong working knowledge of the advice sector, and the welfare benefits system to support the Charity’s beneficiaries, maximising their income and providing holistic signposting to other services

The Director of the CDMT plays a strategic role in performing arts training, education and assessment nationally and manages the staff and resources of an organisation of UK-wide standing. The CDMT is financed primarily by membership subscriptions. As this source of income is restricted, the successful applicant will need to demonstrate a strategic business sense and a successful income-driven record that will enable the CDMT to create, diversify and take full advantage of developing opportunities.
The Director must be able to liaise effectively with all sectors of the dance, drama, music and musical theatre education communities. They will have wide knowledge and experience of arts education at all stages of development from entry level, through Further/Higher Education to post-graduate level, and will also require an understanding of qualification frameworks in the UK. Knowledge and experience of inspection and self-assessment mechanisms similar to those operated by the Office for Students, Ofsted and Ofqual, is desirable.
