ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring an Area Manager to provide management and oversight for services which span across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC). Our services provide 154 units of accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. The services are 24 hour supported accommodation sites. You will have the overall responsibility to deliver the highest standards of service quality, performance and improvements across your services through excellent leadership and embodiment of our SIG values.

As the Area Manager, you will lead the team to deliver exemplar Trauma Informed support to our residents and participants. The current team you will directly manage:

• Deputy Manager x 3
• Activities Coordinator x 1
• Resettlement Manager x 1

Rota: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, flexibility required to meet service needs, based across all RBKC services under your area

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Line Management and Leadership

• Provide high quality support, leadership and line management to staff, offer guidance, support, and advice to the team and support them to perform to the best of their abilities.
• Provide leadership and management throughout the full employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular one to ones and team meetings to support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed.
• Proactively embed a culture of learning, development, reflection, and evaluation in a psychologically informed environment.

Service Delivery

• Manage the overall day-to-day operational delivery of your service, working directly with your team, colleagues, residents and participants, as well as other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the needs of our residents.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Manage the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• Previous experience in people management and development
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

Job Title:             Hackney Service Delivery Manager 

Salary: £32,000 per annum (FTE)

About us at the NCT

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable NCT Perinatal Service Delivery Manager who is passionate about supporting parents and infant feeding to lead on this project.  This role is home-based but will include travel across the Hackney region (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the role

You will be responsible for managing the parent support project in its entirety across the region. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading on perinatal peer support across the region.
• Managing the project staff team.
• Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all services are accessible and inclusive.
• Engaging with communities through networking with other local organisations.
• Report progress on project status, timelines and delivery against key performance indicators.
• Participate in local perinatal networking/task and finish projects, so that the programme is an integral part of the local perinatal and infant feeding provision landscape, and is able to advocate for and chaperone perinatal service users at a strategic level, raising the profile of NCT’s perinatal offer locally and nationally.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our commissioners, staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is 28-35 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is a home-based role, however travel across Hackney will be required.

Role Purpose

This is a senior support post of essential development importance to allow the Dean, Chief Operating Officer, Chapter and committees to develop and maintain an effective system of governance for the Cathedral with adherence to the highest standards of good governance practice. This will include relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. The post holder will provide comprehensive and effective secretariat support for Chapter and its statutory committees.

Job Description

Job Title: Governance & Committees Manager

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Key Relationships: Dean and Chapter, Chief Operating Officer, Committee Members, Cathedral Safeguarding Lead

Salary: £27,200 (pro rata from £34,000)

Hours of work: 28 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks). Some flexibility will be required to allow attendance at evening meetings and events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Governance administration

• Assist in the production and submission of a range of information required in order to demonstrate compliance;
• Liaise with external legal advisors as required;
• Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for statutory bodies including the Charity Commission, Church Commissioners, Information Commissioner’s Office, HSE and Companies House;
• Act as the Whistleblowing Officer and assist in the working of the Whistleblowing Policy;
• Assist with the completion of questionnaires and reports for the Cathedral’s insurers, Association of English Cathedrals etc;
• Maintain the declarations of interest and gift registry records for senior staff and committee members and record in the minutes when committee members are conflicted out or need to declare an interest;
• Assist the COO in keeping a log of complaints under the Complaints Policy adopted under the Cathedrals Measure and help to ensure that complaints are dealt with according to the policy;
• Provide such other support at the COO reasonably requires including correspondence, research and diary management.

Committees administration

• Lead the co-ordination, preparation, planning and follow-up for meetings and other committee work associated with the governance of the Cathedral. This will include issuing invitations, booking rooms, issuing Zoom invitations, arranging refreshments and access needs, assisting in the drafting of agendas, gathering and circulating supporting papers for the meetings, attending meetings, taking confidential minutes, circulating and amending minutes and maintaining action trackers for the members of the following committees: Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committtee;
• Assist in the work of the Nominations Committee to recruit members for the new committees;
• Assist in the work of the Standing Committee as it prepares for Chapter meetings;
• Assist the Dean and COO in their governance responsibilities under the Care of Cathedrals Measure 2021, including being the point of contact with the Fabric Advisory Committee and liaising with its Chair and Secretary;
• Liaise with committee members and maintain good relationships;
• Liaise with professional advisers where appropriate and in consultation with the COO;
• Assist in the scheduling of training and circulation of information and papers for Chapter and committee members as required. 

Safeguarding administration

The Cathedral follows the safeguarding best practice and guidance set out in the Diocesan policy “A Safe Church” and also follows the policies and guidance set out by the National Safeguarding Team.

Reporting to the Cathedral Safeguarding Lead (CSL), the post-holder will:

• Assist the CSL in ensuring that safer recruitment practice is observed in all recruitment;
• Undertake the DBS checks for staff and volunteers if required, including verifying identity, submitting the applications and reporting to the candidate’s line manager/team leader when the checks have been completed. This will include advising colleagues as to which checks are appropriate and liaising with the Diocesan Safeguarding team and Volunteers & Community Officer;
• Maintain accurate records of all DBS checks carried out in a central register;
• Arrange for all new staff (paid and volunteer) to attend safeguarding training and arrange follow-up training for existing staff (every 3 years). This will include ascertaining which levels of training are required and which individuals will also need specific additional training for their roles;
• Liaise with the trainers to identify training sessions, book rooms and catering and arrange room set-up;
• Maintain accurate records of all safeguarding training carried out in a central register;
• Report to Chapter when required.

Additional responsibilities

• Support the COO in the coordination of risk management across the organisation;
• Arrange and manage the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and parish clerking duties;
• Ensure timely publication of statutory notices in advance of the annual APCM;
• Assist the COO with returns, reports and filings for the Parish;
• Support data protection compliance across the organisation;
• Ensure that the highest standards of professional performance are maintained;

• Participate in the arrangements for this role’s performance review and appraisal;
• Ensure that professional skills are regularly updated through participation in training and development activities;

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.
