Role summary

The Head of Business Development is responsible for all income generation for the organisation. Working with the CEO they are responsible for creating and executing our business development strategy. They work closely with the senior team to ensure the long term financial sustainability of the organisation.

Goal of the role

The goal of the role is to generate more income than is required to run GoodGym each year and to develop plans to do this sustainably.

Key responsibilities and accountability

• Develop and manage a business development strategy in line with targets and needs of the organisation.
• Stay informed on changes and trends in relevant funding areas and keep the organisation informed of where we might need to adapt to obtain funding.
• Accountability for all income including, but not exclusively, public sector, grant funding, brand partnerships, member donations and gift aid.
• Identifying new income generation channels, and working with the CEO to ensure opportunities and risks are understood
• Own the end to end business development pipeline - modelling, identifying opportunities, producing proposals, tender submission, negotiation of contracts.
• Ensuring visibility of funding pipeline for the CEO, Treasurer and Board, with regular review of accurate likelihood of delivery across each funding route
• Ensure reporting to funders is executed to a high standard.
• Build and develop relationships with funders and potential funders including chasing funding where necessary.
• Lead, motivate and manage staff and contractors in the business development team.

Wider organisation responsibilities

• Inputting to the overall strategy development of the organisation, and creating delivery plans. Assessing the financial implications of the organisation’s strategy and providing feedback.
• Working with others to ensure that the financial strategy and the organisational strategy are compatible. Work across GoodGym to understand the barriers and enablers for operational work in relation to partnerships
• Ensuring operational teams are consulted on proposals that affect them Building the GoodGym brand and reputation through all interactions and communications, particularly amongst potential and existing funders.
• Reporting relevant information to the Trustee Board, and attending meetings as required
• Working with others to ensure that GoodGym communications reflect our obligations to funders and partners

Growth Opportunities

You will play a key role in the senior leadership of the organisation, and be a representative for GoodGym in meetings with various stakeholders . The role provides the freedom to influence strategy in consultation with the CEO.

You will work closely with other teams across the organisation meaning you can learn from their skills and experiences. You will also have the chance to work closely with our trustees who have a wealth of varied experience and expertise.

Your manager will support your personal development and provide suggestions for learning opportunities, mentorship, training or non-executive roles. There is an annual organisation budget to support the cost of external training.

Job Title: Primary Futures Project Manager (Maternity Cover)

Reports to: Head of School Programmes

Location: The role is open to hybrid or fully remote working but the candidate would be expected to be able to occasionally travel to schools within the funded project areas (including Westminster, Chester and Lancashire) and attend occasional meetings at the charity’s offices located at Quantum House, 22 – 24 Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, EC4A 3AB.

Purpose: Are you an experienced project manager with knowledge of the primary education sector who can confidently lead an exciting funded project for 12 months, helping children broaden their horizons and discover their futures? This is a fantastic opportunity to take on the role of Primary Futures Project Manager for Education and Employers charity supporting the delivery of our internationally recognised career-related learning programme in primary schools. The programme is called Inspiring the Future and is known as Primary Futures in primary schools.

Through our programmes, our charity brings inspiring volunteers from the world of work into schools, helping children learn in a fun way about a wide range of future jobs and career pathways, broadening their horizons and raising their aspirations and attainment. School activity sits at the heart of our charity’s mission which is to: ‘ensure that every young person in our country, wherever they live, whatever their parents or carers’ circumstances, has the opportunity to meet a diverse range of volunteers to hear first-hand about jobs and the world of work’.

This important role will manage and lead the day-to-day delivery of a key primary school focused project for the charity, funded by the Westminster Foundation. Responsibilities include leading the delivery and coordination of a multi-year funded project, managing stakeholder and funder relationships, overseeing programme activity across schools and partners, monitoring performance against targets and budgets, reporting on impact and outcomes, and providing line management and support to a remote team member to ensure successful project delivery.

Remuneration: £36k per annum FTE.

Project Management

• Lead the day-to-day management and coordination of a five-year funded project, ensuring delivery is aligned with agreed objectives, targets, timescales, budgets and funder requirements.

• Lead the development of high-quality primary-aged resources for teachers, pupils and parents/carers, overseeing the scoping, creation, and refinement of materials to support project delivery and enable schools to sustain career-related learning beyond the funded programme.
• Lead engagement and delivery with a designated group of participating primary schools, developing strong relationships with teachers and school leaders and tailoring support to their needs.
• Maintain a clear understanding of the needs and context of participating primary schools and geographical areas, using this insight to inform project planning and delivery.
• Ensure teacher training and support builds schools' capacity and confidence to embed career-related learning and independently use Primary Futures beyond the funded intervention.
• Oversee volunteer and employer mobilisation required to meet project delivery needs, working collaboratively with colleagues, employers and local stakeholders.

Reporting

• Lead on the collection of project data and feedback to monitor progress, demonstrate impact and inform ongoing improvements to delivery.
• Oversee the implementation of appropriate reporting mechanisms, including Salesforce and SurveyMonkey, to ensure accurate and timely recording of project activity and outcomes.
• Ensure project data and evidence are accurate, timely and sufficient to demonstrate progress against agreed KPIs and funding requirements.
• Produce high-quality progress updates, reports and other project documentation for senior leadership and funders.

Line Management

• Provide effective line management, direction and support to a remote team member, including performance management, professional development and regular review of progress.
• Plan and allocate workloads, balancing competing priorities and ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet project and organisational targets.
• Provide oversight and direct leadership of key project activities, including employer encounters, virtual events, teacher training and primary school-based delivery.
• Work collaboratively across Education and Employers to ensure communications, research, evaluation and employer engagement support project delivery.

Philanthropy Manager

Philanthropy and Partnerships fundraising at Alzheimer's Research UK has grown significantly over

recent years. The Directorate has a strong track record of soliciting seven-figure donations and

winning significant corporate partnerships with well-known and well-loved brands such as Omaze,

Cadbury, Warburtons, Roadchef and Dobbies.

We are now building upon this success and have launched a new, significant fundraising campaign.

This campaign will help drive further transformational growth, from income across major donors,

trusts and foundations, and corporate partners. Ultimately, it will help us fund cutting-edge research

that will bring forward the day when we can diagnose, treat and prevent dementia.

The Philanthropy Manager will play a key role in the success of the Philanthropy Team. Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy and other stakeholders across ARUK, the Philanthropy Manager will drive income and deliver transformational gifts and strategic relationships with individual major donors and charitable trusts and foundations. 

Key Responsibilities:

Relationship Building and Income Generation

· Build relationships with a portfolio of high-value current and prospective major donors and charitable trusts, gauging their level of interest in our work, providing opportunities to engage with ARUK, and soliciting gifts through face-to-face meetings and events.

· Develop a thorough understanding of ARUK's projects, policies and activities to articulate the mission of our work and inspire people to join us.

· Tailor and develop cases for support to attract funding for ARUK's projects, fundraising across different areas of ARUK's work, including identified strategic priorities for the organisation.

· Present and pitch to potential supporters and donors, managing meetings where relevant and involving senior representation when needed — including supporting the Head of Philanthropy on high-value asks where required.

· Develop stewardship and engagement plans for donors, working with teams across ARUK to create bespoke and creative engagement opportunities, ensuring donors are thanked and updated and that their relationship with ARUK grows in depth and value.

· Work with the prospect development team to manage a portfolio pipeline, moving donors/trusts through the different stages to secure gifts.

· Lead on relationships with senior volunteers and senior leadership, where appropriate, empowering them to open their networks and ask for support.

· Work closely and collaborate with the Corporate Partnerships and other teams on cross-team fundraising opportunities.

Line Management

· Line manage a Philanthropy Officer, actively empowering, coaching and supporting them to develop their operational plans and deliver on key priorities. 

· Work with the Head of Philanthropy to set clear goals, objectives and KPIs for the Officer and provide them with the ongoing guidance and support they need to reach them.

· Role model and actively embed Alzheimer’s Research UK values and behaviours across all activities, and champion the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Processes

· Liaise with the Philanthropy Executive (Admin) as required on expected income and gift restrictions.

· Work closely with the Donor Relations Manager to enable them to fully support donor relationships in terms of stewardship and recognition.

· Ensure supporter and event records are kept up to date through daily use of ARUK’s CRM (Salesforce).

Events

· Play a key role in the planning and delivery of team events such as cultivation dinners, with support from the Events Team.

· Explore and develop new fundraising event opportunities, working closely with the Events Team to create engaging high-value event

· Lead on bespoke events such as online donor presentations or tailored lab tours for a small group of supporters.

· Represent ARUK at Philanthropy Team events, and at other ARUK events where major donors or the representatives of charitable trusts may be attending.

A new service in the area, Wigan Crisis Space provides a safe space for those experiencing mental and emotional distress, and suicidal ideation. Forming part of the Greater Manchester VCSE crisis pathway, we are an out-of-hours, non-clinical alternative to A&E for adults to access timely compassionate support from trained recovery workers – the service operates from 3pm to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Salary - £40,300 FTE per annum
Hours – 37 hours per week (full time) including out of hours and weekend management cover, and support on a rota basis.

As the Service Manager, you will have a strong knowledge of the mental health landscape and a strong track record of effective management. You will have responsibility for two Team Leaders as well as overall leadership of the staff team (totalling 8). You will work closely with other service providers, as well as our Operational Manager, to offer first-class support for Wigan residents.

Main responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and management to the staff team to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective and appropriate service to adults living within the Borough of Wigan.

About the Role

As Area Manager you will oversee delivery of high-quality services across Wales. This includes:

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

2. Liaise with volunteers, external facilitators, school administrative and teaching staff on school projects as needed, in the pre- and post-event stage.

3. Attend in-person events in the borough (in both schools and workplaces) to assist with delivery, volunteer management and event logistics.

4. Compile data and reports on business and volunteer activity as directed by the Senior Project Manager on the Secondary Team. Work with the wider team to produce annual impact reports and volunteer data reports on specific projects, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement.

What is it like to work for us?

As a small charity we are able to provide a great work-life balance with early finishes on Fridays, Christmas shut down, training opportunities, a friendly office near Spitalfields, and a cash-back health plan.

We are looking for a motivated team player to join our Business Development and Philanthropy Team, which leads and co-ordinates our global fundraising from institutional and philanthropic sources.

You will provide crucial support to our team’s function by providing relevant and timely business intelligence and coordination to support our work with donors, including support for internal and external events that we organise to deepen donor engagement with our work.

Accountabilities

You will support the organisation of inspiring donor events, in person and online, working across multi-disciplinary teams and drawing together reflections and learnings afterwards to improve our donors' experience. You will help colleagues prepare for funding meetings — contributing to cases for support, proposals, donor reports and appeals— and support day-to-day stewardship, from thank-you letters to stewardship activities such as annual thankathons.

You will manage your own small portfolio of individual donors and charitable trusts giving at the £5,000 level, sending proposals and reports, and will maintain a strong knowledge of Practical Action's programmes so you can share stories of change and impact data confidently with current and prospective supporters.

You will support the team's intelligence hub: gathering, interpreting and sharing insight on key donors including governments, foundations and multilaterals; analysing funder strategies and calls for proposals; and working with regional and country teams to understand and meet their business intelligence needs. You will help ensure intelligence is shared and acted on across the organisation, including through the monthly news bulletin, and work with your manager to develop "so what" analysis that BD teams globally can act on. You will also keep our SharePoint and donor portal registrations accurate and well organised.

The Head of Fundraising & Business Development is one of three new senior leadership roles we're creating alongside our CEO, the first time OUTpatients has built a leadership team of this kind.
