Porchlight is looking for an experienced and compassionate Area Manager to lead the delivery and development of our internal Live Well Kent and Medway (LWKM) services and related support services, including domestic abuse support and work focused on the alleviation of poverty.

This is a key leadership role within our mental health provision. You will provide strong operational oversight across a range of community-based services, ensuring they are safe, person-centred, trauma-informed and delivered to a consistently high standard. Working closely with service managers, internal teams, commissioners, voluntary sector partners and statutory agencies, you will help ensure that people experiencing mental health challenges, domestic abuse, financial hardship or multiple disadvantage receive coordinated and effective support.

You will be responsible for supporting service performance, quality assurance, safeguarding practice, contract compliance and continuous improvement. You will also play an important role in developing staff, strengthening partnerships and identifying opportunities to improve outcomes for people using our services.

We are looking for someone with proven experience of managing mental health or related support services, including leading teams through complexity and change. You will understand the impact of trauma, poverty, domestic abuse and social exclusion, and you will be confident using data, insight and partnership working to improve service delivery. Excellent communication, judgement and organisational skills are essential, alongside a clear commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and recovery-focused practice.

About the role

The Business Development and Fundraising Manager will play a crucial role in delivering a key pillar of our strategy: to build Claremont’s financial strength and sustainability.

The purpose of the role is to increase Claremont’s income from hall hire, therapy room hire, office lettings and donations, so that we can strengthen our much-loved services for vulnerable people.

By tapping into unrealised revenue streams (especially from in our large and centrally located building) the Business Development and Fundraising Officer will bolster our independence and ensure that our services are not put at risk when grants come to an end.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development, Marketing and Promotion

• Develop and implement marketing initiatives to increase bookings for Claremont's halls and meeting rooms.

• Promote our hire spaces across online platforms (such as TagVenue and Sharesy), build new partnerships, and grow bookings through local networking and word-of-mouth.

• Improve our online presence and promotional materials by creating engaging content, including photography, video tours, signage and marketing literature.

• Support the marketing and promotion of office space rentals, responding to prospective tenant enquiries and assisting with the lettings process.

• Monitor booking trends and recommend new opportunities to maximise bookings and income.

2. Customer Engagement and Venue Hire

• Work closely with the Facilities Manager to respond promptly and professionally to enquiries about hall and room hire.

• Welcome new hirers, deliver customer inductions and support them throughout the booking process.

• Build strong relationships with regular customers, identifying opportunities to improve their experience and encourage repeat bookings.

• Help coordinate office space lettings and provide an excellent experience for prospective and existing tenants.

• Continuously review and improve the customer journey, using feedback to enhance Claremont's venue hire and lettings offer.

3. Fundraising and Individual Giving

• Work with the Head of Operations to plan and deliver fundraising events, including the Claremont Exhibits Private View, Craft Fairs and new legacy programme activities.

• Develop and administer processes for Gift Aid and individual donations, ensuring records are accurate and compliant.

• Explore innovative ways to increase individual giving, improve donor engagement and reduce barriers to giving using digital tools.

• Support the development of Claremont's legacy giving programme and wider fundraising initiatives.

4. Operational Support

• Be an active member of Claremont's small team, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the centre.

• Provide occasional front desk cover during staff absences, welcoming visitors and responding to enquiries.

• Assist with setting up and packing away rooms and equipment for activities and events when required.

• Support the successful delivery of centre events and activities, working flexibly to meet operational needs.

The Assistant Finance and Operations Manager is a new role for The Christie Charity (Charity) and a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to work for a fast moving, growing organisation. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to take ownership in the finance team for day-to-day transactional processing for The Christie Charity group. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop an understanding of charity and commercial finance. You will play a key role in supporting robust financial controls across the Charity group.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for coordinating and overseeing day-to-day transactional activity undertaken by the Finance Officers, including purchase-to-pay, supplier payments, accounts receivable, banking, income reconciliation, corporate credit cards and other routine financial processes. The postholder will ensure work is completed accurately and within required timescales, review key reconciliations and outstanding items, and provide support and guidance to the Finance Officers where issues arise. They will remain actively involved in transactional processing where required, particularly in relation to more complex matters, periods of high workload and the transition of activities into the Charity.

The postholder will act as the first point of escalation for transactional matters which cannot be readily resolved by the Finance Officers and as a key point of contact for routine finance queries from external third parties. They will work closely with colleagues across the Charity to ensure financial processes operate effectively while maintaining appropriate controls and segregation of duties.

The Assistant Finance and Operations Manager will be an important day-to-day user of the Charity's finance and purchase-to-pay systems and will take a lead operational role in ensuring these systems are used consistently and effectively. The postholder will support Finance Officers and wider Charity colleagues with system and process queries, monitor compliance with agreed financial procedures and identify recurring issues or opportunities to improve processes. Working with the Charity Financial Controller and Funds and Finance Business Partner, they will contribute to the continued development of efficient, proportionate and well-controlled financial processes across the Charity group.

Additional information

Upon joining The Christie Charity, day-to-day financial transaction processing will continue to be delivered by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust during the initial months of the role, therefore, the postholder will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with their finance team to ensure seamless operations and continuity across the Charity group.

These functions are anticipated to transfer to the Charity group with the postholder taking ownership of these responsibilities within the first 3 months in role. The postholder will be expected to work autonomously to ensure the smooth transition of activities to the Charity.

This post would suit an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment, where responsibilities may shift in response to organisational priorities. About the team

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by two Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships. 

The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.   

Impetus is driven by a shared belief in tackling the barriers that hold back young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education and employment. Alongside investing extensive financial and non-financial support in our charity partners through our Investment Team we also seek to influence decision makers to design and implement evidence led policy and direct new resources to get young people the support they need through our Public Affairs team. About this role

The Development Director (New Business) provides strategic leadership for Impetus’ new business development, prospect pipeline and high-value funding opportunities. The postholder will have responsibility for identifying, cultivating and converting new corporate, trust and foundation, and high-net-worth donor relationships, as well as continued relationship management for key, established relationships.

In 25/26, the Philanthropy and Partnerships team generated £11m in philanthropic income, alongside £2.8m in probono contributions. The Development Director will play a key role in delivering Impetus' growth ambitions, helping to increase philanthropic income to £14m by 2029. 

Working closely with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the role will translate the fundraising strategy into clear new business priorities, pipeline plans and prospect engagement approaches, ensuring a strong flow of qualified opportunities and sustainable growth in high-value income.

Working closely with colleagues across Philanthropy and Partnerships, the postholder will personally lead and support significant six and seven-figure prospects and strategic funding opportunities, while overseeing the stewardship and retention of current partners. 

Working collaboratively across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and with colleagues across the organisation, the Development Director will ensure a joined-up approach to donor acquisition, pipeline development, prospect conversion and stewardship, maximising income, partnership value and long-term impact within the agreed fundraising strategy.

Key responsibilities

New Business, Pipeline & Conversion

• Personally lead on six and seven-figure level priority prospects and strategic funding opportunities, managing the full fundraising cycle from qualification to close.
• Work with trustees, senior volunteers, and networks to unlock introductions and new opportunities, providing clear support and follow-up to maximise success.
• Evolve Impetus’ new business strategy, driving the identification, cultivation, and conversion of new high-value donor and partner relationships.

Financial management

In relation to the financial management of the Charity’s funds, you will ensure that Individual Named Funds, containing designated funds, are utilised in accordance with their Terms of Reference. You will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control across the Charity group, with the opportunity to take ownership of its two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial controls and reporting, supporting the Charity’s aim of maintaining strong governance across both charitable and commercial operations.

The Role

This is a new post and a significant one. As Business Development Manager, you will be the first dedicated commercial function in NEYDL, the only person in the organisation with responsibility for sales and income generation from commissioned services and traded products. You will report directly to the CEO and sit on the senior management team.

Your core mission is to grow NEYDL's earned income across two distinct strands: securing commissioned services and contracts with local authorities and other organisations in the North East; and developing a national market for NEYDL's training products and DigiDAD platform, enabling professionals and organisations across the UK to improve the support available to young dads in their communities.

There is no pipeline to inherit. You will need to identify the right routes to market, build relationships from scratch with commissioners and buyers, and develop the BD function as you go. The CEO will provide strategic direction and support, but you will need to be confident operating with autonomy, exercising commercial judgement independently, and getting on with it.

What you will do

Identify and pursue opportunities for commissioned services and contracts in the North East with local authorities, NHS commissioners, family hubs, children’s services and other public and voluntary sector organisations
Develop a national market for NEYDL's training products and, in time, licensing offer, working across both statutory and voluntary sector audiences. This will include selling training directly to local authorities, NHS bodies and VCSE organisations; testing demand from VCSE organisations for a licensing model that enables them to deliver NEYDL's approach locally; and exploring whether local authorities would fund or commission a local VCSE partner to do so. A key part of this role in year one/two is testing assumptions about which funding and delivery models have most traction.
Promote DigiDAD as a free resource to professional audiences, growing registrations and building relationships with organisations that can champion it with young dads
Develop and manage a BD pipeline, setting targets and reporting progress to the CEO and board
Represent NEYDL at sector events, networks and conferences nationally to build profile and relationships

The following targets relate to the areas of work this role will contribute to, alongside the DigiDAD Programme Manager and wider team:

Professionals trained through NEYDL's training products: 50 by April 2027; 350 annually by April 2029
New professional DigiDAD registrations: 750 by April 2027; 1,400 annually by April 2029
New young dad DigiDAD registrations: 510 by April 2027; 1,000 annually by April 2029

The Business Development Manager will play a central role in building the relationships and income pipeline that drives the training targets. DigiDAD registration growth is led by the DigiDAD Engagement Officer and wider team, with the Business Development Manager contributing through referrals identified in the course of other work.

Alongside these targets, NEYDL currently holds commissioned service contracts with several local authorities: Durham, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead. A key priority for the Business Development Manager will be to maintain and strengthen these relationships, ensuring contracts are renewed and the value of our work to each commissioner is clearly evidenced. Beyond existing contracts, we are keen to secure commissioned funding in areas of the North East where we currently have limited or no presence. 

Job Purpose: 

To oversee the management and growth of Venue Hire for our historic spaces covering meetings, conferences, talks, weddings and community activities. This is our primary source of income and key to supporting our library and learning programme, alongside our theatre income and fundraising.

The role will also lead on identifying and developing new business opportunities for other commercial income streams, building relationships with clients and partners, and ensuring that commercial activity supports the Foundation’s charitable purpose and long-term sustainability.

Optimising the use of space to ensure that St Bride Foundation (SBF) operates profitably as well as meeting the needs of our communities is a key part of the role. The Business Development and Events Manager will oversee the Venue Hire activity and promote the venue’s room resources, as well as supporting the Library and Workshop in the organisation of in-house courses, seminars and events.

Key Responsibilities: 

Events Management

• Manage the Events Team activity of promoting and selling the venue’s event spaces, ensuring SBF has good visibility on all relevant venue hire websites.
• Responding to and converting enquiries and monitoring conversion effectiveness.
• Managing clients’ needs for booked events.
• Negotiating contracts for both short and long-term use; and ensuring that all aspects of the venue are fit for purpose.
• Identify new networks and online promotions to promote the SBF offer

• Proven experience of planning and delivering events end-to-end, on time and within budget. Working with teams on a varied programme of activities for a diverse mix of audiences.
• Experience of working with volunteers running workshops and events, overseeing all aspects of delivery.
• Experience working with external partners, including community groups, local authorities and sponsors.
• Line management experience of an events team, including support with managing workload and personal development objectives.
• Experience of identifying new clients, generating leads, converting enquiries and developing repeat business or longer-term client relationships.
• Experience of using data, customer insight or market research to inform sales activity, pricing, service development or income targets.
• Experience in the charitable, cultural, or heritage sector preferred.

• Ability to troubleshoot issues arising during events including those relating to AV, catering and general experience of attendees to ensure seamless delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confidence in briefing and managing event speakers including volunteers and SBF Trustees to ensure smooth running of events.
• Confident relationship-builder, able to develop networks with corporate clients, event agencies, cultural partners, community organisations and other stakeholders.
• Able to set, monitor and report on business development activity and income-related KPIs, including enquiry conversion, occupancy, repeat business and revenue growth.
• Risk assessment and mitigation in event spaces and knowledge of licensing, insurance, accessibility and inclusion requirements.
• Financial management and budgeting, including forecasting and reporting of our events revenue.
• Strong IT skills, including CRM systems, ticketing platforms and newsletters.

Terms & Conditions: 

• Working Hours: 8 hours per day (including one-hour unpaid lunchbreak), five days per week. You will work on rotation with other members of the Events Team, on one of the following core hour slots: 08:30–16.30, 10:00–18:00, 12:00–20:00 or 14:00–22:00 with one hour lunch. Due to the flexible nature of the work you may be required to work outside of these times. Shifts will be planned and agreed in advance with the other members of the Events team. Ad hoc weekend work will be required from time to time.

European Food Business Manager (12-month FTC)

About the role 

As our European Food Business Manager, you’ll help Compassion in World Farming end factory farming and support a more humane, sustainable food system. 

You’ll build trusted relationships with leading food businesses across Europe, encouraging practical improvements in farm animal welfare and helping companies reduce reliance on animal-sourced products where this supports our programme goals. 

As our European Food Business Manager, you’ll be responsible for: 

• Building positive relationships with food businesses across Europe - Using a consultative, evidence-led approach to encourage meaningful public commitments on farm animal welfare, including cage-free systems, better chicken welfare and improved fish welfare.
• Supporting sustainable food system change - Helping companies develop practical, measurable targets to reduce reliance on meat, fish, dairy and eggs where aligned with Compassion’s work.
• Turning commitments into progress - Working with colleagues and external partners to support implementation, reporting, transparency and benchmarking through Compassion’s tools and resources.
• Representing Compassion externally - Contributing to industry meetings, forums and collaborative projects that help improve animal welfare and food system resilience.

About you

To succeed as our European Food Business Manager, you’ll bring strong relationship management skills and the confidence to influence, negotiate and support others towards shared goals. You’ll be comfortable working with external partners or businesses, adapting your communication style for different audiences and managing several workstreams at once. 

Skills and experience you’ll need to bring as our European Food Business Manager: 

• Experience of building and managing positive relationships with external partners, clients, businesses or stakeholders.
• Experience in sales, marketing, communications, procurement, supply chain, CSR, sustainability, food business or another relevant commercial or advocacy setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to adapt messages for internal and external audiences.
• Good project and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise, take initiative and meet deadlines.
• An interest in farm animal welfare, sustainable food systems, corporate sustainability or food industry supply chains would be helpful, but we are also open to transferable experience.

About the Role

As Area Manager you will oversee delivery of high-quality services across Lancashire. This includes:

A focus on team development, and the monitoring of performance and quality are key within the role.

Please note that travel across a large area is an essential part of this role and you may be asked to work unsociable hours on occasion. You must be able to attend in person meetings with commissioners and partners across Lancashire well as attending offices to meet returning staff.
