The Role: Deputy Chief Executive/Finance Manager

We are seeking a proactive and strategic leader, with strong financial and operational acumen to strengthen the charity’s internal infrastructure. The role will lead on financial management and oversight, supporting the Chief Executive at a senior level, playing a vital part in ensuring the AAA’s long-term financial resilience, equipped the charity to deliver its mission for years to come.

It’s an exciting time to take on this refreshed role as Digital Marketing Manager at Hospice UK. After significant investment in our digital infrastructure and an overhaul of our communications strategy in recent years, we’re looking for someone to take our digital offering and supporter engagement to the next level.

Line managing a team of two, and with shared oversight of the organisation’s brand, this role leads the delivery of key digital marketing products in the organisation, including our Dying Matters campaign. It’s an influential and visible role within the organisation, and has the great privilege of overseeing the telling of deeply moving human stories of grief and compassion at the end of life.

The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for creating a rich and varied online experience for Hospice UK’s supporters. Overseeing our digital marketing and content strategies, you will work with powerful personal stories of hospice care, loss and grief. Your goal is to use these to inspire our public audiences to get behind our mission to make sure end of life care is there for everyone who needs it.

You’ll be a key member of our External Affairs directorate, and you’ll manage our digital content and marketing team, leading the delivery of key campaign and marketing content and products. The team is currently made up of three people. You’ll have a sophisticated understanding of how to get our audiences’ attention through effective use of tools including Meta Business, Google search and email marketing.

We recognise that search engine optimisation (SEO) and user experience are both critical to achieving our business objectives. You’ll lead on planning content that is SEO-optimised to get us appearing in front of as many people as possible, and structured in a way that gives users a top-class online experience.

Our social media channels have undergone a transformation since our brand refresh in May 2024, and are now engaging our supporter base – and those new to hospice care – in a highly effective way. You’ll lead the team that plans and produces content for both our member and supporter-facing social channels, finding new and engaging ways to keep growing our social presence.

We’ve made great strides over the past 18 months in working much more effectively with our Income Generation directorate across appeals, organic social media and paid social marketing campaigns. You’ll be a key part of the continuation and development of our work here, sourcing stories and content that further develops our success in these spaces.

With a highly motivated Membership Engagement team in place to strengthen our position as a membership body with the UK’s 200+ hospices, you’ll collaborate with this team to identify opportunities to work with our members for things like photography and filming, social media, and other campaign-related content.

You’ll have a key input into the delivery of content for Hospice UK’s flagship campaigns including Dying Matters and Hospice Care Week. With shared responsibility for brand development and guardianship, the role has significant visibility across the organisation, requiring strong relationship, motivation and influencing skills.

This is a reshaped role which comes at an exciting and important time in Hospice UK’s digital evolution. We’ve significantly invested in our digital footprint and infrastructure in recent years, with a new website and CRM, and a recently completed digital fundraising and social media strategy review now ready for implementation. Fundraising & income generation 

· Trusts & grants: Research, write, and submit compelling funding applications to trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies to secure new and repeat funding.

Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.   

  

We run a range of our own community services to support local older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people. 

  

We are looking for an experienced, confident and proactive fundraiser to join our income generation team to raise more grant income from charitable trusts and foundations primarily, along with corporates and other partners. These include local schools and community organisations. Maintaining great relationships with these and other supporters Is a key requirement of this role. A confident self-starter, you will have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Role Purpose 

Working alongside our chief executive (who is an experienced fundraiser), an external larger bid writing resource and heads of programmes, the key objectives are to successfully generate income with grants valuing up to c.£10k in line with KLS fundraising plan and annual budget; develop and maintain relationships, and secure funding from, a portfolio of loyal and prospective supporters. Stewardship, reporting, pipeline and other database management tasks are other key features of the role.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our sector-leading Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive.

We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and fantastic culture. As a key member of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll work alongside the Community Fundraising Managers, Executives and Co-ordinators to achieve the exciting growth plans in our new 3 -year fundraising strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on our DIY walking and cycling fundraising activity, which currently raises over £750k each year. What we want from you

We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. · Maximise income from existing corporate partners (and links through trustees, vice presidents, community, and major donors) through a clearly defined programme of research, networking, applications and excellent stewardship.

· Along with senior colleagues, represent the new organisation at virtual/ face-to-face meetings with existing partners and prospects, successfully engaging them with our emerging aims and objectives.

· Involve senior colleagues, trustees and other key stakeholders to open networks and support cultivation plans to ensure that peer-to-peer approaches are maximised.

· Using a wide array of digital and traditional channels to steward through storytelling and to thank.

Research:

· To direct the work of the shared Partnerships Assistant in researching, identifying, and maximising the potential of new corporate prospects using information held within the supporter databases as well as external sources such as LinkedIn, and business press.

Relationship building:

· Ensure all corporate relationships receive exceptional stewardship and that appropriate cultivation plans are developed, maintained and implemented – in particular, quality and timely reporting of impact achieved against funding provided.

· Build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within current and potential corporate partners to embed the organisation as a charity with a strong reputation for meeting the needs of corporate supporters.

· Plan and organise opportunities for funders to view the impact of their funding first-hand, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and met.

· Support the Chair, CEO and Director of Development to develop senior relationships with funders where appropriate, including support with arrangement of cultivation events, project visits and meetings through excellent research and timely briefing.

Collaboration with colleagues across the organisation:

· Facilitate and encourage new leads by building warm links with colleagues and coordinate relationship management between teams to ensure most appropriate relationship for the donor.

· Work with fellow fundraisers to run virtual and face to face events throughout the year to provide opportunities to thank our current corporate supporters and engage new prospects.

Reporting:

· Monitor income and expenditure to ensure sound ROI on all activities.

· Ensure accurate records of all relationships are maintained on the supporter database.

· Regularly report to senior leadership on agreed KPIs and income achieved and forecast.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll develop and implement innovative strategies that raise awareness, drive engagement, and increase income across multiple streams.
 
You should have a strong knowledge of marketing and communications principles and practice, digital marketing, and social media, and be confident in engaging audiences using real-life stories to demonstrate impact and influence action. In addition, you will have a successful track record of fundraising and/or other forms of income generation in the charity sector, including management, with proven experience in meeting financial and non-financial targets.
 
You should be able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, corporate, major donors and other individuals.

Deputy Head of Care

This Best Companies Top 100 mid-sized company and Top 20 charity is looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Care to hold national responsibility for the operational management of identified Care projects, driving their development and implementation.

Reporting to the Director of Care and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for the line management of Family Support Managers for the Kentown Programme and the development of new locality projects as identified by the Director of Care Services.

Having worked previously in a senior management role, with experience of working in a stressful and emotional environment, within the community, you have a commitment to working in partnership with children, young people and their families, developing, monitoring and delivering service outcomes and building and maintaining successful professional partnerships to ensure the service is accessible to relevant families.

What we’re looking for:

· An experienced child health, education or social care professional - applications will be particularly welcome from those who understand the impact on family dynamics of having a child/young person with a life threatening or terminal illness and those who have worked in bereavement support.

· A poised and convincing communicator - you will maintain effective relationships with stakeholders including families, referrers, partners and other statutory, private and voluntary agencies.

· Comfortable with a changing environment - you will thrive working at a fast pace and controlling tasks from conception to completion and understand that quickly connecting with people is essential.

· A persuasive, inclusive approach to achieving goals quickly and correctly – you have a strong sense of drive and a warm and friendly working style.

· Strong networking skills and confident use of MS Office - Educated to A-level or equivalent with a recognised childcare and management qualification (NVQ4 or equivalent)
