Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is a UK-registered charity (1081455) offering funding (Awards), training and media profile to inspiring leaders of wildlife conservation projects across the Global South. We support pragmatic, sustainable, and long-lasting work rooted in science and community involvement. The charity funds projects directly and we remain in regular contact with Award winners (grantees). Our funding is raised each year, mainly from family foundations and trusts, as well as from individuals, corporates, and international NGOs, with a current annual income of £2.6m/year. WFN is governed by a committed trustee board. Our team is dynamic, passionate about our mission and ambitious. The opportunity

Established in 1993, we have channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation. They should have demonstratable skills in online communications and audience engagement, knowledge of wildlife conservation issues, experience with event organisation and the ability to support a vibrant team to flourish. The Communications Assistant will report to The Head of Communications with matrix management to the Operations Manager, dividing their time by working on communications 3 days p/w and office administration and charity events 2 days p/w. Main purpose of the post
We are seeking to appoint a Bids Manager with experience in managing the development and submissions process for successful research bids, to be part of a wider team that spearheads RUSI’s research fundraising efforts. Reporting to the Director, Research Business Development, the successful candidate will lead the process for preparing high-value bids, including drafting sections of the narrative and reviewing budgets, and be responsible for building central resources to improve and facilitate effective business development operations. This is a highly collaborative role that involves building very strong internal relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders and skilfully managing competing priorities, personalities, and deadlines. We are seeking a team player with a pragmatic and positive attitude, who will enjoy learning about RUSI’s research areas and building stronger systems and processes to help us to make Business Development more efficient and successful.
Key tasks

For UK Government, US Government, EU and Canadian Government bids, and bids over £100,000 value to RUSI:

End-to-end project management of high-quality bids, including tender responses, funding applications and requests to participate.
-
Manage internal and external communications to ensure that the RUSI team, and partners, are aware of evaluation criteria, key themes, deadlines, and other critical information. Agree roles, responsibilities and timelines between key stakeholders.
-
Compile and arrange high-quality and compelling bid language working with subject matter experts, draft responses to institutional questions, and offer quality assurance ahead of submission.
-
Review project budgets to be signed off by RUSI’s COO, ensuring that they are prepared consistently and in line with RUSI policies and funder requirements, working with RUSI research teams to achieve this.

Serve as the institutional point of contact for the key funders listed above – attend Early Market Engagements/supplier events, funder events, webinars, to ensure you are up to date on their priorities and RUSI is competitive with our bids. Maintain a centralised database and disseminate up-to-date information on each funder’s practices, key dates, preferences, upcoming opportunities etc.

For all other bids, review budgets for accuracy, competitiveness and to ensure costs are in line with RUSI’s policies and previous submissions, and, once finalised, seek approval from the COO.

Work with the Director for Research Business Development, Research Directors and the Deputy Director General to identify and cultivate new relationships within each of the key funders, ensuring that we have good awareness of upcoming plans, expectations and priorities.

Facilitate links to partner organisations (primes) and build and manage consortia-based relationships to ensure we have oversight of upcoming opportunities and are able to negotiate successful partnerships.

Ensure use of best practice across research groups in our approach to bids and budgets, and that key documents, outcomes, research impact, and decisions are saved centrally for future use.

With support from the BD team, develop and execute a plan to inform, train and mentor research and central services colleagues on best practice for bids, including a focus on wider business awareness.

Respond to due diligence requests received by RUSI from research funders, ensure we have a central database of up-to-date policies and documents required to respond successfully and quickly.

Work with the Business Development team to build organisational systems and processes for effective BD, collaborate with BD colleagues to share feedback and ideas, support each other, and develop central projects to improve BD across the organisation.

Attend Business Development meetings with research groups and build strong relationships with project managers and project officers, capturing feedback and seeking input to BD processes and practices.

Manage the process for new funder approvals with the Deputy Director General.

Be a member of RUSI’s Research Committee and report on bid statuses and other relevant information when needed.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team as the E-Commerce Manager.
In line with our ecommerce strategy, Sustrans has invested over the past years to increase sales through our e-commerce shop and now needs to find new approaches to maximise revenue.
As the E-Commerce Manager, you will be responsible for maximising e-commerce revenue by optimising the martech stack, improving audience insights, product development/management and promotion through digital and offline marketing channels.
As part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team, you will work closely with colleagues in Supporter Engagement and Giving, Strategic Communications, Finance as well as external agencies and suppliers.
This role has line management responsibilities for two-part time colleagues, the E-Commerce Promotions Officer and the E-Commerce Products Officer.

About you

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Individual Giving Manager to join the Fundraising team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for 12 months. This role is critical for the success of our income generation activities and acquisition of new supporters.
We are looking for a target driven team player who will skilfully and tactfully manage a variety of stakeholder relationships, including our face-to-face agency partners and volunteers. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look to build on successful growth of existing supporter acquisition initiatives.
About the team
This role sits within the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement, you will also work collaboratively with the Individual Giving Manager – Donor Development, Individual Giving Officer, Supporter Care Co-ordinator, and the Events team. You will also work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including our Branch Network and Regional Hubs to connect with new supporters across the UK and maximise opportunities.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of:
- Experience of developing and running successful individual giving programmes to recruit new donors.
- Experience of managing external relationships at all levels, for example with suppliers, agencies, including effective negotiation on costs and contracts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Oversee, convene and deliver TAC programmes, developing live and digital content in line with our strategic priorities.

Governance & Compliance
- Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
- Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
- Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
- Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.
- Respond to general enquiries by email or telephone, manage own workload and maintain an online diary, using agreed TAC systems.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent

Centre Management and Student Support
· You will work 1:1 with our community of school/college coordinators in your region to support them in delivering the programme. · Regularly communicate and report to the Head of Programmes
· Execute our strategy across the region
· Support schools and colleges in programme onboarding (students and mentors) and delivery of paid internships
· From time to time there may be a need to deliver sessions to skills and careers leads and to groups of young people within the school and college setting

General
· Promote a commitment to high standards of service, and to equality of opportunity through leadership and good practice.
· With the Chief Executive, Director of Programmes and Operations, and Heads of Programmes , monitor the state of Career Ready in the region and seek ways to promote its achievements and improve the service given by the central staff team.
· Attend meetings and training days with the national team (approximately 2 times a year – these have tended to take place in London).
· Ensure that all regional management information is submitted to the national Salesforce database in a timely and accurate way.
· In collaboration with the Career Ready team, raise our and key stakeholders’ profile in the area, celebrating success via socials and the local media, business and education communities.
· Undertake public speaking as required to promote the work of Career Ready in the area.

The role is largely responsible for delivery of 1MM Mentoring Programmes. This includes partnership development, matching mentors/mentees, and oversight of mentoring relationships. Also to consider safeguarding measures, fundraising, and meeting growth targets. The role will help to establish a pipeline in line with 1MM’s aspirations for 2024 and beyond. This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
1MM Regional Manager for Programme Delivery’s main tasks include:

Helping 1MM to scale by helping establish over 150 new, high quality mentoring matches each quarter. (A match means that the mentor and the mentee have completed 1MM’s training and have had their first meeting)

Meeting all quality assurance KPIs.

Maximising conversion, retention, and mitigate drop-off

Ongoing support for key stakeholder partners, including Youth Partners, and maintaining strong relationships.

Securing at least one new partner per quarter.

Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to users.

Providing regular reports on progress related to the role.

Potential for line-management responsibilities as the team grows.

Terms and Conditions: This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.
Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata). We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.
