Job Purpose

Oceana is seeking an experienced Development Lead to curate, grow and diversify our rapidly expanding fundraising and partnerships portfolio. Working closely with our UK team and US-based international development team, you will be responsible for the collaborative stewardship of relationships with some of the world’s biggest environmental foundations and philanthropists.

You will help identify and drive new relationships, managing successful grant applications with trusts and foundations in the UK, and cultivating new fundraising streams. You will have a strategic mindset along with a meticulous attention to detail. Fostering exemplary relationships with diverse partners is central to the role and critical to our success. You should be experienced in handling competing priorities, delivering exceptional funding applications and reports, and providing updates with precision and confidence. You will also have a passion for growing and diversifying income streams and converting new interest into long-term, sustainable, support.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and People, you will work closely with our teams, and the global development department, to secure the sustainable resources Oceana UK needs to deliver further impact at this crucial time for our ocean. The role will also help Oceana maximise opportunities to deliver policy victories for UK seas for many years to come and strengthen our work globally.

You will be a self-starter, with a broad range of previous experience, and the ability to develop and manage your priorities in this new role. You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a small team. The position will be hybrid, with 2 days per week from home and 3 days per week based in Oceana’s office in Paddington, London or in Newquay, Cornwall. Occasional travel will be required to meet team members and stakeholders in geographically diverse locations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the development of a UK specific fundraising strategy.
• Manage relationships and reporting to existing funders alongside the international development team and Executive Director. This will primarily be with trusts and foundations, and individual philanthropists.
• Identify and develop new opportunities with trusts and foundations.
• Manage successful grant applications and budgets, co-ordinating and collaborating with the international development team.
• Work closely with the finance and campaigns team to ensure all relevant stakeholders are consulted in grant applications and reporting.
• Manage and deliver timely reporting, communications and updates to funding partners and stakeholders.
• Oversee and develop other existing UK income streams, including mass giving.
• Identify, develop and manage additional UK income opportunities, including with smaller trusts and foundations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance and People, and international development and budgeting teams to manage the income forecast and grant financial reporting.
• Maintain appropriate development records and database for all UK activity.
• Develop and manage key fundraising and partnerships events.
• Work with Executive Director to develop our outreach with funders at international events.
• Attend and represent the UK in monthly development meetings with the international team.
• Design and manage the UK’s development budget.

Candidate Requirements:

Education and work experience:

• Extensive professional experience in fundraising and development, ideally in the ocean or the environmental space.
• Good professional relationships with environmental trusts and foundations
• Demonstrable experience in managing successful multi-year grant applications and budgets with trusts and foundations.
• Strong experience of managing charitable foundation relationships and delivering detailed and timely reports, and communications to add value where required.
• Experience or working with campaigns teams to develop funding applications.
• Experience of managing philanthropist and major individual donors.
• Experience in prospecting, managing and analysing research on fundraising opportunities.
• Experience in co-developing and diversifying fundraising strategies (mass giving, digital, appeals, etc)
• Clear experience of in co-developing and diversifying fundraising strategies, and writing strategic plans, and contributing to planning and budgeting processes.

The Director of Programmes and Partnerships is responsible for ensuring The Diana Award delivers quality impactful programmes and develops strong strategic partnerships that harness young people's power and potential to change the world. The Programmes Directorate currently comprises four teams: Anti-Bullying, Mentoring, Social Action, and Impact and Influence, with a staff count of 25 plus a pool of associate trainers. The Director of Programmes and Partnerships will work collaboratively with other members of SLT and the CEO to drive forward the organisation’s strategy and plans as set out in The Diana Award’s five-year strategy, Future Forward, and play a vital role in shaping the new strategy.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Senior Leadership

• Drive the organisation’s strategy and vision as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, taking key decisions in the best interest of the organisation.

The Head of Finance has lead responsibility for overseeing the finance function of the organisation.  The role reports directly to the Chief Executive, is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and works closely with the Board of Trustees and in particular with the Treasurer.  The post holder also has responsibility for the line management of the Finance Officer and the Feeding Service Administrator (Finance Team).

Working with SMT colleagues, this role leads on all financial reporting and analysis to the team and to the Trustee Board and Finance Committee, the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.

The Head of Finance leads the annual audit and preparation of the annual report and accounts working closely with the Chief Executive, Treasurer and Chair of Trustees. As Project Support Officer you will support the London & South East Area Manager and Regional Managers with volunteer recruitment, documentation of training, giving our volunteers a fantastic experience, guest outreach and giving extra support to our London & South East projects as and when required to aid development and growth within the region.

Each of our Projects is run by Project Leaders (volunteer position) and supported by Regional Managers through recruitment and training of volunteers. Your will support the Regional Managers so that they can manage more projects, knowing that you have helped with the embedding of volunteers, along with supporting expansion plans within their areas. This support could range from developing relationships with our food suppliers, researching local organisations to support with guest outreach, and recruiting new Project Leaders for the Area.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to talk confidently to external people about our Projects. You will also be a good organizer, with the ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple Projects. You will have a passion for food and cooking, and be committed to our objectives and ethics.

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include evening and weekend work. As well as projects across London, our South East projects include Southampton, Portsmouth, Aylesbury and exciting new openings in Slough and Reading in 2024.

Asylum Aid operates as an independent charity, led by its own Executive Director within the group structure, and is ambitious about growing its impact and reach in the future to ensure protection from persecution for those who need it.  For over thirty years, Asylum Aid has been providing legal representation to some of the most vulnerable people seeking asylum. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

 The Head of People is a new role for the organsiation and you will be joining us at an exciting time, as we are moving into new offices and seek to drive forward our new 2025-2030 strategy.  This role will play a pivotal role in implementing our objective to be an employer of choice. maintaining and evolving our strong team culture, and strengthening our position as leader in evidence based management and leadership practices.  In this role you will be supported to develop the capacity, capability and human resource systems of the organisation to achieve impact at scale with a strong and effective team and will work in close collaboration with the CEO, the members of the Executive Leadership Team and Management Team as well as the Senior HR and Operations Officer.

You will provide leadership in developing and implementing our People and Culture strategic objectives. The Position

The Director, People Team works closely with Executive Director and the European Senior Leadership Team (ESLT) to lead the European People Team. Living / Environmental Conditions

The Role

· Work closely with the team to encourage greater uptake of the digital platform, physical activity and workshops programmes to improve access and connection with vulnerable adults from harder to reach communities

· Establish and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships with regional and local press channels, as well as other communication agencies

· Update and support the creation of information and images on the website regularly

· Oversee marketing communications including promotional material and effective digital campaigns, and the weekly newsletter

· To coordinate all aspects of print production, design, proofing and distribution of all publications, leaflets, brochures and publicity material

· Provide administrative support for all media, social media, website and press related communications

· Provide administrative support for the activity and workshop programmes across the organisation, to promote, raise awareness and collect reporting data

· Ensuring copyright, collate images and proofing for both print and digital promotional material

· Maintain and update a library of publications, reports, stories and promotional material to archive and showcase the organisational development, and development of the digital platform

· Manage Google Analytics and social media reporting

General Duties:

· General administrative tasks as required of the work when necessary

· Work with the team to support the recruitment and management of volunteers

· Attend and contribute to regular team meetings and supervision, as well as training sessions

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience:

· Proven experience on content creation, social media marketing and branding

· A creative marketer with a good eye for design

· Experience of developing communications materials across broadcast, print and online communications channels

· Proven record on successful individual decision making from within a marketing role

· Ideas orientated to drive an agenda within their role

· Experience of working with databases and website building

· Experience of using and establishing online content management systems and databases to effectively collate and manage internal and external intelligence

Desirable Experience:

· Experience of working with business management platforms

· Experience of the voluntary sector and community work

· An understanding of key current health and social care organisations

Skills and Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with people of different backgrounds within a variety of settings

· Strong ability to organise and forward plan

· Ability to lead and drive tasks towards completion to meet tight deadlines

· Manage a substantial workload and work with initiative and independently

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Training:

A short period of training and induction will be given internally by your supervisors.
