We are looking for a proactive self-starter to sit within a high-performing team working to raise awareness of SSAFA’s support in the South West Region of England to those in the Armed Forces Community who need it most.
With the ultimate objective being to grow SSAFA’s presence, profile, and identity, the role is responsible for all marcomms activation in the region. The role holder will work to deliver the central Fundraising, Marketing & Communications strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Communications with close alignment with colleagues across the marcomms directorate. The marcomms manager will be responsible for managing marketing campaigns in the South West Region of England and promoting SSAFA’s fundraising initiatives and services. You’ll identify the areas of greatest impact and cut through, deliver integrated awareness campaigns and secure media coverage of fundraising events. Crucially, you’ll be able to identify stories which resonate with our target audience and write calls to action.
With a heavy focus on media and PR activity, key to the role is building strong relationships and contacts with relevant stakeholders in your region including media representatives, employees, volunteers, and case study beneficiaries.
About the team
The Communications team is a small but dynamic group of individuals with strong skillsets across Public Relations, Storytelling (case studies) and Internal Communications. The team is a mix of ex-forces and civilians, and they are always sharing knowledge and expertise with each other.
You will work closely across all directorates within SSAFA, with a focus in South West, to garner information and create compelling marcomms campaigns and activities to raise awareness of SSAFA’s work.

As a natural storyteller with strong media instincts, you will excel at securing high-profile coverage and elevating our brand presence. The money is used to grow their business, and once the money is repaid, lenders can choose to recycle their loan to support more low-income entrepreneurs, make a donation to support CARE or withdraw their funds. As of April 2026, Lendwithcare facilitated over 2 million individual loans to support more than 230,00 small business owners with loan support totalling over £62 million.

About the role
Working closely with the Lendwithcare Marketing Manager, the Lendwithcare Marketing Executive will deliver an exciting range of supporter communications and fundraising campaigns to drive loan funding and increase donations. In addition, the role will oversee the approval of up to 600 loan profiles published to the Lendwithcare website each month. This will include working closely with Lendwithcare colleagues to ensure a steady supply of profiles from local partners and growing a team of remote volunteers to edit the text provided to a high standard. About the role
We are looking for a Senior Campaigns and Digital Engagement Officer to bridge the gap between our work and the general public. You will be the engine that converts our legal wins and policy change ambitions into a public movement, mobilising our supporters to show up, speak up, and financially support our mission.
Key responsibilities include:
Campaign development: Lead the creation of digital journeys that take supporters from casual followers to active participants (signing petitions, emailing MPs, and donating).
Supporter engagement: Manage and segment our newsletter community, create high-performing content, and launch our first regular monthly giving programme.
Digital optimisation: Use data (Mailchimp, Google Analytics) to track ROI, optimize website "Action" pages, and ensure a frictionless, mobile-first donation experience.
Strategic growth: Contribute to the wider development of the charity, including our business planning and stakeholder relationships.
This role is fixed-term because this is the first time we are developing this work, with support from a restricted, time-limited grant. If by the end of the first year it is clear that the role brings significant value to the charity, we will be looking to secure alternative funding and extend the contract.
